I bought bulk organic herbs online and have been using a recipe my midwife gave me: 2 parts red raspberry leaf, 2 parts nettle leaf, 1 part alfalfa, and 1 part oatstraw. I mix up a bunch of the loose tea at a time and then you use 1/4 cup of the loose tea per 4 cups of water and steep it overnight. I pour it through a…

I'm not sure what your dieting/weight loss/eating background is like, but I thought I might share my story in case it helps. I lost about 10 pounds in a relatively short period of time right before TTC baby #2. Although I was not underweight according to my BMI, the weight loss disrupted my cycles - - they became really…

It was carbs, carbs and carbs for the first three months. Now I'm craving non-meat protein like eggs and cottage cheese. I eat a whole egg and two whites scrambled with breakfast most mornings and now I'm eating 2 more hard-boiled eggs as a snack most days. Not the best for my cholesterol intake, but apparently baby needs…

This is great info, thanks!! I figured I would keep going until it got uncomfortable. I wear a HRM and I've already noticed that I have been using easier gears and slowed down on the sprints in order to keep my heart rate at an acceptable level (which is 160s or below for me). And I can definitely see how my growing belly…

Oops, meant to quote this, RBXChas. I'm new to this

We have similar tastes in names! With my daughter we had it narrowed down to Carolyn, Natalie, and Audrey and ended up going with Natalie. I think we're keeping the other two as potentials for this baby!

You always notice more pregnant women when you're pregnant yourself! Worst case if you sign up and don't feel up to running later in pregnancy, you can walk/run or just walk. Still great exercise no matter what!

I say go for it! I did a 5K on Sunday (at 15 weeks) and I'm signed up for a 10K in April and I'll be 6 months pregnant. I'm doing the 10K with a group of girlfriends and will probably be walking it with two other pregnant women who are about 5 weeks ahead of me. I'm sure the three of us are bound to get some stares and…

I'll be watching this thread too. We're not finding out the sex this time and I didn't realize how much harder it would be to come up with TWO names!

OP, you mentioned that you registered for a jogging stroller. Most jogging strollers are recommended for babies 6 months and up since they don't usually provide neck support or the harness/straps are not sized appropriately for an infant. However, many (but not all) jogging strollers can accommodate infant car seats with a…

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the, ahem, "exciting" dreams that often occur during pregnancy :blushing: Best part of being pregnant IMO!

Crunchy mamma here :) I did a midwife-attended waterbirth with my first and I'm planning the same with this one. Babywearing, extended breastfeeding, cloth diapering, selective/delayed vaxing, holistic care, etc. etc. I didn't consistently co-sleep with my first, although she was in our room for the first 6 months or so. I…

With my first and this one I started feeling movement around 15/16 weeks. But I have to by lying down with my hands resting lightly above my uterus to feel the movement. Right when I lay down to go to bed is usually when mine have both been most active. It does take a while to distinguish little baby kicks from gas bubbles…

I can sympathize with you! I had two episodes of mastitis in the first month - as if the first month of motherhood isn't hard enough! I didn't pump, but I do think my problems had to do with oversupply. I found myself in a catch 22 where I wanted to express extra milk in order to avoid plugged ducts and mastitis, but if I…

I'm in my 16th week and have already gained about 5 pounds. I gained 25 total with my first child and would like to gain around the same with this one. It was pretty easy to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight in 3 months with just breastfeeding and walking. I stopped logging food after getting pregnant because I couldn't…

Hi ladies! I'm in my 16th week and due July 5th. I also have a 3 1/2 year old daughter. Right now I'm doing spin class pretty consistently 2-3 times per week and trying to find the motivation to do some yoga, walking, or circuit training on other days. I've already gained about 5 pounds and I'm hoping to keep my total…
