I love super light weight wind breakers. I have a 1/4 zip Livestrong, and a full zip Pearl Izumi Elite that only weigh a few ounces each. If I need to take them off, I tie the arms around my waist, and they're so light I never notice them. I also love Columbia Titanium that has the silvery lining, it's great for holding…

I'd be happy with 4 good dogs, who never catch the scent of a deer, rabbit or squirrel & beller their heads off, and take off on me so my husband has to go hunt them down on the snowmobile; and who never get under my feet & trip me. Yup, that and an endless Hemlock forest trail to run in right out my back door.

My only point was they are not 2 different things. And this doesn't say what they did for cardio. Obviously running is much more weight bearing (and muscle forming) than cycling or eliptical would be. I repeat, I don't do any strength training for my legs, and they are solid muscle, so cardio can be a muscle forming…

This initial growth of any muscle slows way down after a short time, including weight lifting. You don't need to grow, you need to maintain muscle.
-
Why does everyone seem to think cardio is not also muscle building? My legs are solid muscle from running, any weight bearing excercise is also building your muscles, strengthening your bones, AND improving your heart. Yes, you need to do something for the top half also, but just wanted to state cardio and muscle building…

1,525 running miles, which is by far my most ever. I'm very proud to say most of them are on the trails, and not a one is on a treadmill!

I'm up to 9, can do either pull-ups or chin-ups about the same. For the last month I've been doing 20 (assorted styles including wide grip) almost every single day, plus 60 push-ups. I have a goal to do 10 consecutive overhand pull-ups by New Year's day. By the way, I could do about 2 at the end of August if I was lucky.…

Hi, I've been a runner pretty much my whole life. I run about 35 miles per week, usually 5-6 miles most days, and a long run of 9-12 miles on Sunday. My stats are on my profile. I would guess my mile time is slightly under 6:00, but haven't raced one in awhile. Good luck in your running!
-
I'm an inch shorter, but 120-130 is my weight range, I am also small framed. (You can see my before & after pictures on my page)

You have added so many years to your life...great years you can surely enjoy with your newfound skinny self...congrats! :)
-
I haven't benched much lately, just because I mostly run and don't hit a gym much. However now I do 20 pull-ups and 60 push-ups daily. When I did bench I was almost doing my body weight. I weighed about 125 and benched 115.

Milk really fills me up & satisfies me, and is a great after work-out drink. It's really cold here, so I have a hot chocolate after most runs with some peppermint marshmallows. Can't beat it! And then I'm much less hungry for dinner.

You must like to spit ;)

I'd rather die tomorrow than stop, slow down, or do less. And I'm old, so I don't need my uterus anymore. ;-) By the way, I feel crazy healthy.

Congratulations, what you've done is amazing, and takes a lot of work & determination. You should be immensely proud of yourself, which I'm sure you are! Glad to have you in our runners' world! :)

OMG that's the best LOL I've had in awhile. I have been put on the BOARD OF SHAME!

You are definitely not eating enough. I am 44, a runner, run up to 40+ miles per week, plus do speed work, core/pull-ups/push-ups, plyos, etc. and I feel TREMENDOUS! I have more energy than I know what to do with most days. I weigh 124 and eat every single excerise calorie back, plus some. If you take care of your body,…

Another vote for Elf! Plus the new Grinch. Any Christmas movie really, I LOVE Christmas movies! :)

I have something hurting every day lol, my main problem is my feet, but hip, back, knee, muscle pain all sneak in there. I've just come to the fact that this is life after 40. It will never stop me :) I know a lot of people that are out of shape and never do a thing that hurt a lot worse than I do. I'd rather be injured…

Have you ever been on a trail in the woods when the first snow of the season is glistening on the pines, and the leaves from fall are still wet on the ground, and geese are honking overhead, and all you can smell is the musky piney smell of the woods, and a deer runs by, and OMG you are missing so much in life. GET OUTSIDE.

You can feel sore tomorrow or you can feel sorry tomorrow. YOU CHOOSE.

Try running 10 x 800M at a good hard pace without some mileage under your belt! You can do them, but they sure won't be fast, and neither will your marathon time.

The human body has very few limitations. Keep trying & you'll be amazed every day at what you can do! What you just did is the perfect start. Congrats!!!
-
44 here. Exercise more than diet will help keep you feeling young & strong. What towel?
-
And hence a runner was born! :)
-
So happy for you! Happy Birthday, and Happy I Love Running day! Congrats to you!
-
Well this sure isn't true for me. I love running more than just about anything, and the longer the better. I never run under 5 miles at a time (I do about 40+ miles per week). This first mile or two are always the hardest for me. I am injured at the moment, and I can't even tell you how depressed I am that I can't run.…
