  • Every so often, I wish these forums had a "like" button. This is one of those times.
  • 5'0" and I put 100 as my goal, mostly to put in a number. I'm much more focused on size than weight.
  • For me it'd be the boobs. After 3 kids, they could use a little... revitalizing, shall we say. (And hey, if someone wants to throw in a tummy tuck to get rid of all that extra skin, I'm all for it.)
  • A good book is a good book, regardless of the age it's marketed towards. I read what I like, and I don't care what category people place it in. So yes, this includes a healthy dose of YA.
  • You're clearly not taking parents of toddlers into account. The only time I get to sit is when my two-year-old is napping.
  • Not for me. I only go out to movies maybe 2-3 times per year, and I've never liked theatre popcorn. Never was a drinker, never smoked, have always walked everywhere so I don't buy gas (I don't have a driver's license, heh), never indulged often in fast food. The biggest difference in my lifestyle between now and where I…
  • Cellulite will get better with more muscle tone, although it will likely never go away completely. Stretch marks, unfortunately, are forever.
  • If it's an actual cheat day, something I've planned ahead of time, I don't log. I make mine on special occasions (maybe once a month?). If it's just a day in which I'm going over because of poor planning or indulging in cravings or underestimating what I'm eating, I log it and let my numbers turn red.
  • Fat free jello pudding.
  • Does he have something like a Wii or Xbox Kinect? You'd be surprised how much those can get you moving even in a regular video game (as opposed to one of the workout programs available for those systems) if he plays on them instead of on a computer.
  • I eat back about half my exercise calories. MFP can sometimes be rather generous in their estimate of calories burned, so to keep on the safe side, I try to eat back about half. Works for me, at least so far.
  • age: 30 height: 5'0'' SW: 130 CW: 120 GW: 105ish? Looking for size more than weight, really. Must get back into my pre-preg clothes!
  • MFP wanted a goal weight, so I put in the weight I was before I had kids. It's within the healthy range for my height, and it looked good on my frame. As other posters have said, though, I'm far more concerned with size and how I feel than I am with the number on the scale. If I wind up weighing more but wearing the same…
  • For one thing, MSG is a fairly common allergen, while natural glutamate is not. (Yes, I'm sure there are people in the world who are allergic to glutamate, but it's not a common allergen.)
  • Sounds to me like all we have here is a thread where men complain about women, disingeniously disproving their original point. Way to go, guys.
  • My hips. Curves are good, but I'd love to get rid of the love handles so the hips could be one smooth curve instead of looking kind of... bumpy.
  • Yes, it's more expensive to eat healthy. Fresh fruits and vegetables cost a lot more to buy than fatty processed foods. There have been numerous studies showing that people living below the poverty line tend to obesity because they eat what they can afford. When a fast food burger is cheaper than a head of lettuce, well...…
  • Great post. Bump.
  • This Saturday is a family occasion that revolves around food. I already know this, and am going in with the awareness that there's no way I'll make my calorie count that day. In fact, I don't know if it would even be possible to log everything, since there'll be a ton of things I won't even know what they are (other than…
  • The husband sleeps beside me and the cat sleeps on my head.
  • Poking my head in here in hopes of some more discussion on the topic. According to MFP, my BMR is at 1200, but that site puts it up at 1325. Does MFP lowball the BMR, or is the other site unreasonably high? I'd really like to go with the more accurate number.
  • I don't think it really matters as long as you're consistent with the way you deal with it. Make a hard and fast rule for yourself. I usually eat something after my late night workout, and have decided to record it as breakfast instead of as a snack. But since I do that every day, the calorie count works out to be the same.
  • Mine's a small one: the sundress I had to have my husband zip up for me last year I can now do by myself. No groaning zipper!
  • Yes, there are a ton of threads about people who keep losing inches but don't see any progress on the scale but this is the first I've seen about the opposite problem. I have no idea what causes it, but it's annoying me greatly. I know I'm getting stronger and fitter, since I can do things I couldn't do before I started,…
  • I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to let you know you're not alone! I'm having similar issues. My scale shows a slow but steady decrease in weight, but according to my tape measure, I've made no progress at all. I haven't lost so much as half an inch. Frustrating! Would much rather have it the other way around!
  • I think I have to adopt this as my new mantra. Generally, when the workout gets hard and I'm covered with sweat and my muscles are whining, I take it as a personal challenge. I narrow my eyes at the whining muscles and inform them "I. Can. Do. This." The Zombie Apocalypse line might be more motivating, though. Put the fear…
  • Oh, a book thread. I will be in here often, I'm sure. Books are the only things I love more than chocolate. Let's see... recently read Gail Carriger's Soulless (fun Victorian-era paranormal mystery with vampires, werewolves, and parasols) and Leigh Lavalle's The Runaway Countess (sort of a gender-flipped Robin Hood in a…
  • It won't help right away, but loose skin does slowly regain some of its shape over time. If you've lost a lot of weight over a short time or had a baby, it might take a few months but your skin does tighten up a bit, especially if you're already living healthy.
  • I hate gyms, so I don't go. I took up bellydancing instead, which is something I can actually have fun with. I think the key to a workout you'll be able to stick with is to find something you enjoy. If you're eating at a deficit, you don't HAVE to work out, especially not every day, but it's definitely better for you to…
