Yeah, I tried to account for that. It would take approximately 100,000 extra calories a year to maintain 33 extra pounds. I totally buy the 200,000 number, it makes sense. It just would be crazy if the 3500 calories math worked linearly like they say it should. We'd all be on "My 600 Pound Life."

How could we be consuming 200,000 more calories a year without gaining like 57 pounds a year? Isn't the average like a pound a year? I know, as we get larger, our calorie needs increase. But, this is still a big difference. If you use the BMR calculators and some funky math and estimation, we can predict that 1 added pound…

Protein should be a minimum if you overshoot it that is fine. You can set it to 88 grams but nothing stops you from eating 150 grams instead. Just don't eat less.
-
I am a super-fan of protein and have a personal goal of 180-200 grams a day. But, protein doesn't need to be higher than fat to burn fat. I think there is a wide-variation between what works for fat/protein ratios and people should find what they are comfortable with. There's no reason she won't be successful with the…

1Nana2many, I am glad it is working for you and your husband. Sometimes the damage done is hard to reverse. I am a bigot and a hard-line low-carb fundamentalist, but I am also not completely blind to the different struggles other people experience on their journey. It is great that his A1C is back in normal range and the…

Yep, I am still here. Unfortunately, I lost my 1500+ day streak at some point. I was offline for too long. I never left though. I am still rambling about the same things that I was ranting about 4-5 years ago.

I think I commented somewhere that I was logging my food for the first year of my keto/carnivore period, and infrequently during the second. It was more of a desire for data collection. I don't consider logging and recording calories to be the came as "counting calories." Most people who are counting calories have a limit…

That should be better. The weight didn't come on in a few months, it will take some time to come off. I usually find that I out-perform the calorie predictions anyway.

https://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ and don't pick sedentary unless you really don't move much at all. Like, literal bed-bound or couch potato. This suggests 1350 is a 37% deficit and is very severe and likely going to cause issues. A 20% deficit of like 1700 is more reasonable, will get you fine weight loss, and will make…

Anyone on here can add me.

No. I am glad you posted. It is just that I can't promise my advice works for your situation. I can't speak to it. You found one of the exceptions that I can't make the same claims as I make for other diets. Other people might be in the same boat as you.

I have that app.

I am not a big breakfast eater. When I do, it's usually savory stuff like leftover steak and cheese.

They make me gain weight. I don't restrict calories and eat until I am satisfied, and those screw the whole system up. When I eat them, not only do they have calories, but my body seems to think it was robbed of calories and demands even more in other meals. It can really mess me up. I have a graph somewhere where I went a…

I sent you all friend requests. I always enjoy having new friends here. I suck at logging. I have been doing this for a long time and just eat the foods that I know work for me.
-
Excuse me for being pedantic, but shouldn't the last weigh-in be February 2nd? That way we include the results from every day of the month in the differences?
-
I am the wrong person to guide a vegetarian LCHF diet. I mean, I run the low-carber carnivore club and am the basically the opposite of a vegetarian. I can't think of any of the original low-carb plans that were vegetarian, only ones that have been modified to fit the constraints of a vegetarian lifestyle. It doesn't…

We've been approving new people all day. I know most of them won't listen to me. I still have to be me. The day I stop telling people to not count calories is probably the day I closed my account.
-
Yep, you made it.
-
You must have been somewhat active on MFP, you survived my friend purges. I routinely go through and unfriend everyone who hasn't been active for over a month. So, you either got lucky, or you were secretly on here waiting to come back.

It is going to be hard for you. Things don't turn around in an instant. I would suggest limiting the carbs, obviously. That will help. Beyond that, it's going to take time and consistent work. I would stay on all the medicines until things improve.

I still drink coffee. And, it is something that I admit isn't ideal. I would have never started if I had to give up coffee at the same time. I did, eventually, drop the coffee for like 6 months to see if it had a major impact. It wasn't enough for me to keep it out. I added it back in.

I responded in the other group, but I will be another voice saying that if you're consuming any fiber, you're not eating a carnivore diet. Some of the more significant improvements from the carnivore way of eating happen because we have completely removed that most damaging of antinutrients.

Oh no... I am going to get "Dick" "Pox" on my "Butt."

I no longer eat anything sweet or consume fat bombs. But, the above is my favorite and easiest recipe from back when I did. * 12 tsp (4 tablespoons) of coconut oil. * 3/4 oz of cream cheese * 1 tablespoon sugar-free Torani syrup (usually vanilla) * 1 teaspoon cocoa powder * 7 grams of Truvia * 60 grams (about 4 squares) of…

If you are getting inadequate amounts of protein, your body will take it from muscle or other tissue. You'll break the stall, on the scale, but it will come at the cost of health. Depends on how low you're going on protein, but it doesn't really matter. Protein is almost never the problem.
-
I don't see anything major from what we've been doing here. Maybe some clarification, but I think we were already on that page anyway. We don't have many problems here. I can think of very few times being a "mod" here has required me to do anything aside from approving new members. Not that we've never had to handle…

Well, it's like 0.6 g per egg, so more like 22 grams for 36 eggs. Not that it matters all that much, in my view. I don't worry about carbs from stuff like eggs and cheese. All raw foods have an element of risk to them. Actually, all foods have some risk, but raw foods have higher risks. If you're comfortable with the risk,…

I would find it pretty boring, but I see nothing wrong with this. You'll get plenty of protein and fat, and be fairly low carb (~22 g). Nutritionally, eggs are fantastic. I was going to watch that whole video, but I got bored with the talk of cholesterol.

Anyone can add me. I've been around forever. The only downside, I don't log. I no longer feel the need.
