  • Let's hope no one calls foul, because it's too late now. 291 grams of ground chuck, with a little salt and some garlic, pepper, and chili powder (just a little). Edit: Any ground beef might be within the rules, but I bet my wife stabs me if she catches me grinding up a ribeye.
  • You can tell him I didn't count calories at all while doing keto. I would log them [sometimes], but if I wanted a 4,000 calorie day then I had it. The average tended to work out to be a deficit my body could safely handle. And, it slowly slid into maintenance near the end. You don't need to count. He could totally track…
  • Question: Does anyone think it would be cheating to grind up a chuck steak? It's the same cut they use for burgers. I don't want the cheap stuff raw, but I think it would be easier to eat (right now, while not feeling like burgers) if I could have some raw meat. I can't see how it's cheating... since it will basically be…
  • Single protein sources are really not the ideal, anyway. Can you survive on fresh meat from one source? Yes. Do you need or want to? Probably not. My normal days are steak based, as I like steak best, but I include burgers and lamb, and sometimes chicken too. Today is an "off" day. I made a pound for lunch. I probably…
  • The problem with these sorts of reasons, they are too frequent and often prevent anyone from ever starting. Of course, that might not be the case here. Good luck, when you do start.
  • Are you sure you're not my wife? This is my pantry and exactly what she does.
  • I haven't looked into the details, but it looks like a decent start. Why wait? Why not do it now?
  • Here is day 3 http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/FIT_Goat/view/day-3-30-ground-beef-816751 As you can see, scale weight is dropped again. For a total of 4.4 pounds in 2 days. I didn't think I had that much water weight to lose. The trend-line has only moved 0.3 kg, which is the line I really pay attention to. At the end of…
  • It might be. It probably takes you to your web-browser, and you might not be logged in there.
  • You can't? Can anyone else see it? I might go back to opening it up, but deleting buttloads of comments, if it becomes a problem.
  • I have made it friends only for now. Sorry, but I will friend just about anyone from here. I don't need the drama. More importantly, I want to avoid getting on the bad side of MFP. They're "tolerant" of low-carb, but I doubt they would be willing to accept a debate about how eating just meat can be healthy.
  • Went to the store and grabbed some burger tonight. They only had 45 pounds out. So, I am 10 pounds short. But, this will last a while. On a bright note, the meat was labeled $11.29 for each chub, but it rung up $9.99 a chub. That's $2/lb. The total was $89.91 for the 45 pounds. There's a lot of hate for this on the bottom…
  • We've even separately for a long time, because I only eat meat. We might eat with each other, but it's never the same food. Weight was down again today. I'll post details before going to bed. Today is going to be a long day.
  • Here is day 02 of 30. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/FIT_Goat/view/day-2-30-ground-beef-814926 I also include pictures of exactly what ground beef I will be eating.
  • I am tracking change in weight and estimated body fat percentage. I am also tracking calories in. I could probably also report what my fitbit says for calories out.
  • Benefits of *this* in particular, or my diet in general (which is already meat only)? This will likely have little benefit over my normal diet, although the removal of dairy will speed my weight up. The reduction in spice carbs might help a little as well. I also think I might end up eating a little less than normal,…
  • The calories per day will be on each blog post. I'll also keep a running average. * Starting weight: 82.5 kg * Estimated Body Fat: 21.8% (based on the average of the Military BF formula and the Covert/Bailey formula) * Estimated Body Fat: 26.3% (based on electrical impedance method) * Estimated TDEE: 2,800 calories/day…
  • I actually know a lot of people who do just ground beef for a period of time, to establish a baseline by removing all the possible variations in their diets that might cause problems.
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/FIT_Goat/view/day-1-30-ground-beef-813773 Today is up. I didn't get much eating in. We'll see how my appetite improves over the next few days. If it doesn't, my weight is going to drop faster than I expected.
  • Last time this happened to me, the place had burgers and wings. I got both. Bunless burger and a big pile of wings and blue cheese dressing.
  • No added fats. If I want more fat, I will buy fattier ground beef. If I want less fat, I will buy less fatty ground beef (or not eat all the fat). Personally, ground beef around 20-25% fat (by weight) works pretty well to meat my typical fat numbers. It works out to be around 75-80% calories from fat.
  • I do not handle carbs well, any carbs. This is especially obvious with what most people doing keto consider "acceptable" carbs, like fiber and sugar alcohols. Both of those will tear me up and make me suffer. Most other carbs also have significant pitfalls for me. I have experimented with allowing some back, it usually…
  • I almost never eat grass-finished beef. My meat is always grain-finished. I have other threads where I explain my reasoning behind this. My "light" seasoning requirement makes this less useful than you might think. Others might not be as strict as I am with that one. It helps to remember that my normal eating habits are…
  • I am already bored of ground beef. Lol. But that is just in my head, because I think of a how many meals of just ground beef that I have in front me me.
  • I think variety is "nice" and I can understand why people like it. I also think variety is completely unnecessary if someone is eating a complete food. A lot of people struggle because they are convinced that they can't survive without a multitude of food options. My wife is one of those people, who will tell me that she…
  • I am probably going to start tomorrow. Finishing up my last ribeye tonight. My wife will eat the cheese and eggs that I have in the fridge.
  • Again I go back to the Fat of the Land (pages 54-55 ... but if you read the whole chapter he addresses this sort of thing in depth). Around a week in, the men do tend to get bored and frustrated. They don't want to eat. Then they tend to get a bit of an appetite and eat something. Stefansson (on page 59) hypothesizes that…
  • I am keeping the coffee. There is no way I could quit that during the school year.
  • My hunger rose, but my calories rose to match it. My calories rose slightly until they balanced out at a comfortable point. I am rarely hungry now, although I eat a lot more.
  • I would leave that up to each individual to decide. For me, it will mean only meat (ground beef) and no dairy and eggs. I might start earlier than some. We'll see when I get the burger. I also will probably go all the way through the month of April. At the very least, I'll do it for 30 days. I would not fault you for…
