Sure thing! After are hard workout, glycogen is depleted and when you eat sugar (from simple or complex carbs) your muscles will soak up a fair amount of it along with some water right away. When you work out hard, you get tiny micro-tears in your muscles. To repair, they retain some water to help the process along. Once…

I gain 4-6# every weekend when I go out on long bike rides. It's just water retention in my case. I hold onto it through the week but when it finally does come off, I also see the ~2# of lard I've lost that week come off at the same time. It stinks to see the number go up after a ride, but it's pretty stinking awesome to…

You didn't gain 4 pounds from that meal. You are retaining water. If you were following a lower carb diet plan prior to your cheat meal, you were in ketosis, which accounts for about 3# of water weight. Once you ate all those delicious carbs at OTB (omg i love that place), you went out of ketosis, retained 3# of water in…

heh. i consume about 300mg of caffeine a day but i stuck to the instructions on this stuff because i didnt know how my body would react to the ingredients in it. i didnt want to drop dead of a heart attack in the name of trying to lose weight. it's not safe to just take however many you want. the instructions are there for…

The instructions aren't extreme, you just have to follow them :) Days 1-3, take a pill on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Starting on Day 4, you can also add a second pill 6-8 hours after the first, also on an empty stomach. Once you've made it through the first 4 days, you can begin to add a second pill to…

i hear ya, girl. it's frustrating as hell, ain't it? meh, there's more than one way to lose weight. those who think atkins is the devil, but haven't been able to lose weight on other plans may very well be shooting themselves in the foot by not trying something new. atkins is decent. its sustainable. it only gets…

Couldn't care less if people like Atkins or not. Just popped in to say mmmmm, thanks for posting that pic of the salmon. It looks so tasty. Now I know what to cook for dinner tonight :D People have misconceptions about a lot of things. If you think you have a hard time defending Atkins, think about how rough the folks…

My trainer actually recommends this product, which is odd because he doesn't recommend a lot of this type of stuff. It's not exactly cheap. I went out and bought some anyways. Then I forgot I had it. LOL Thanks for posting this question. I've got to go pull it out of the cabinet and put it into the morning routine starting…

216 calories per muffin. The stats at the bottom of the recipe are for using regular 0% yogurt. I have not calculated the difference when using greek yogurt, but I'm going to eventually, as that's how I make them. Again, if you use greek yogurt, CUT THAT COOK TIME WAAAAY BACK. LOLOL! I was SERIOUSLY PO'd when I burned the…

LOL OMG, well, now I guess I shouldn't complain about the dorky tan lines. So glad I don't have a compound fracture pic to share. hehehehe!

the reason i dont use sunscreen is because as it gets warmer, the jerseys will be tank top rather than short sleeve, and the shorts get shorter. that and the sundresses provide me with a pretty nice tan. it eventually evens out. man, just thinking about it makes me so happy to be shedding the winter lard layer and looking…

omg ya, my legs look funny from the shorts i was wearing, too. let me take a pic right quick, hehehehe :)

Eat it before your workout ;) Readily available carbs will help you get through the workout with more energy. We eat PBJ sammiches just before a ride ;)

:) Don't just take my word for it. Check this out. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/24/health/webmd/main1342839.shtml "In the study, nine male cyclists rode until their muscles were depleted of energy, then rested four hours and biked again until exhaustion. During the rest period, the cyclists drank low-fat…

Planters makes a prepackaged deal. A box of 7 packets, 200 calories a pop. :) It's the only way I can eat nuts without overdoing it. Other ideas: avocado, olives Re: protein shakes. These are great for recovery drinks. Have one within the first 15 minutes after a workout to get the most use. Your body is highly susceptible…

Thank you for mentioning this. Ya, if I go all day without eating, it doesn't matter WHAT i put in there. Its going to come flying out moments later. Yay.

It's nice to see someone else on this forum posting the issues they have experienced after this surgery. I basically got a lot of flack off some members for talking about all the issues I, my fiance, and several friends have ALL had since having this surgery. I don't understand why people have to be so damn ugly about it.…

It probably has a lot to do, also, with where you carry your weight. I carry mine ALL in my stomach. It's disgusting. I really think that even when I'm down to goal weight of 165#, which, if my body stays true to form and drops a pant size every 10#, would put me around a size 6, I'll still have a tube of lard hanging off…
-
Hey fellow stretch :) I'm 6' too. I typically go down a pant size every 10#. I remember a couple years ago when I hit 182#, I was a very comfy size 10 and could zip and wear out of the house (but not comfy) a size 8. It's so different for everyone tho. A friend of mine is 6' tall as well, and even tho she's REALLY thin,…

Forgot to add....the fit test is just a 'sit down, relax, be quiet, wear your HRM' test and it is supposed to calculate your VO2 max. I have a hard time understanding how sitting completely still for 5 minutes or so is going to produce accurate results for the VO2 max when the sports program at a local college here has a…

HRM's are funny. My Garmin HRM tells me I burn, on average, about 1,000 calories more than my Polar HRM does. This is when out on bike rides such as today. I don't trust the garmin. There are a lot of online tools to calculate caloric expenditure, and they usually come WAY closer to my Polar's output than the Garmin.…

What is it with people constantly having to confirm they know people who didnt have the issues with this surgery that I and others i know have? It's not like I told her, hey girl, go get your gall bladder removed! It's all the rage in weight loss miracles these days! LMAO I'm happy for all of you who know people who got…

Every Sunday night, I make a huge batch of steelcut oatmeal. If you've never had it, you're missing out. It's nutty almost, and so different from rolled oats. I sweeten it with some agave nectar and toss in some cinnamon. Then I portion it out into daily servings (I've got a ton of those little disposable tupperwares that…

I went to school with a Laura Tremblay, it's not just a name for movies ;) I think she is miscalculating her exercise and throwing off her caloric needs.
-
They think she was asking a loaded question so she could sit back and watch the chaos. I don't think that's whats going on here.

shes working out..... :D
