I use EAS AdvantEdge pre-made protein shakes. I prefer Vanilla ( I can get a case at BJ's) or strawberry (available in 4 packs at local stores). After my second surgery, I had a hard time getting them down, my nurse recommended mixing them with ice in the blender or just pouring them over ice. Which helped.

Yes, I had some fears before surgery (RYN - 11/28/12). I was more public about my surgery and weight loss as I was asked to write a blog for a local magazine. My thought was If I'm going to lose 80+ pounds in 6 months, no sense not being open about why. For the most part, people have been accepting and supportive of my…

I bought this cookbook and got rid of it. Just about every recipe had wine in it. I use many of my "old" recipes, but I do like things plain and simple. My mom's Meatloaf recipe was a big winner this winter.

My story is similar to Turtle13 (5 months out as well). I met with two surgical groups and sat thru over 4 webinars (called emmi's) as well as my own research. For me, the RNY (or Gastric Bypass) was the option that statistically offered the most weight loss. I think the average is 60% of the weight you need to lose. By…

Maggy - Congratulations on reaching your goal! That is amazing and wonderful. You might consider changing your diet a bit, adding a little more fat or carbs into the mix without increasing the calories. I know that when I was stalled, it was suggested that I lower my carbs and that made a big difference. Hope that…

Congrats! My surgery was 11/28/12. Down 55 lbs since surgery, with 20 lbs to reach the surgeon's goal weight. My advice (although not solicited) is to start walking as soon as possible. It really made me feel much better. Good Luck!

Glad I'm not alone. Just was reviewing body types and styles to wear as my body type has changed. The big boobs are gone, wearing a size medium top. All I can say is "Wow"!

Xcarrie3137, I have had a really successful bypass. Even with some complications. I had surgery on 11/28/12, I lost 30 lbs before surgery and have lost another 40 since. January 3rd I had to have emergency surgery, as I lost so much weight so fast my internal stitches came undone. They were able to go in laproscopically…

Ladies, I have been working through this as well. What is "thin" enough? I got some helpful advice that I will pass along. Each day look in the mirror and find 2 things you like about your "new" body. I had surgery 11/28/12, I'm down 40 lbs post surgery 70 lbs since 9/12. I've gone from plus size 20 pants to a size 10. But…
