Hi! I'm Michelle (aka TheMobileMom). I am returning to running after having peroneal tendonitis for the past 4 months. As I make my way back to my standard 20mi/week, I'm looking for some inspiration. I ran 3 Half Marathons in 2013/2014, and will run the USMC Historic Half this May again. My big goal for 2016 is to run the…

Well did my runs last week despite the yucky weather. Tues I ran 3 mi in the house. It was really fun hearing the kids go, "Mommy, no running in the house!" Wed hit the dreadmill, after PT - 3mi (speedwork) Thurs - dreadmill while kiddos at TaeKwonDo - 30 min of rolling hills level 6 (This one just kills me) Fri/Sat - Rest…

Just an update. Finished my long run (5 mi) on Saturday - Week 2 Hal Higdon's Novice 2. Not a stellar time (10:20 splits), but it felt really good to get out and run. I ran part of the race path. Sunday I squeezed in a 3 mi run before the rain/snow hit. Used yesterday as my rest day. Trying to figure out how to run today…

What's your goal time? 2:10 Is this your first? This is my second (Running USMC Historic Half, Fredericksburg VA - May 18); Ran my first 12/8/13 in 2:14 (Blue and Gray Half, Fredericksburg) How much training are you doing a week? Running 4x/week (Using Hal Higdon's Novice2. May move up to Intermediate, which means running…

I would be happy to join you. I am training for my 2nd 1/2 marathon in May. I don't think the length matters as much as actually putting my shoes on and running. Let me know.

Ladies, Finally got the cost estimate from the Dr. I posted elsewhere that I have decided to pass on surgery at this time for a number of reasons. Here are a few: cost - nothing would be covered by insurance; recovery time; and fear of complications; However, I would like to share the pricing for those thinking about…

Jello sugar free pudding cups! I had one every night once I was allowed to eat. My favorite was the vanilla choc swirl, just found the DuLeche. In a pinch, I could throw some protein powder in it to increase my protein for the day.

I think some is genetics. I have lost 120 lbs. and my legs and arms are pretty tight, not perfect. I do drink a good bit of water and use skin firming lotion (Nivea). Yesterday at Jazzercise a women commented on how my skin has tightened up recently (13mths post surgery). Exercise is a must, daily pushups and running (3-4…

All this advice is excellent. I was really glad I started exercising 5 days a week. I did jazzercise, which gave me cardio and weight training. Extra situps/crunches also helped in recovery.

Shannon, I hear you. It's my tummy flapping when I run to my bed at night that just grosses me out, I'm fine in clothes. I want to run the Marine Corps 1/2 in May and if I'm out for 6 weeks this spring I don't know if I can make it. I'll let you know what I find out when I meet with the good doc in January! PS You are…

Anne, I've had some complications early on (so I am probably a bit sensitive in this area). The most recent was in August (9 months post surgery), my stomach hurt after I ate (every time I ate). That issue cleared up in about two weeks, by just going back to a basic diet of soft solids. However, that being said you can…

I didn't report in last week as it was my birthday and I was taking a break. I'm not sure these last 4 pounds are going to come off by Halloween. I have not been trying very hard the past week. But it is amazing to see that I've lost 7 pounds since we started. It's been raining here for the past 6 days (and the temps have…

Congrats, Stroynaya!! And good job!!

Last week was not as productive. I twisted my ankle on Thursday and didn't run all weekend, as well as treated myself to SF ice cream and skipped my food log! So back at it as of yesterday. I'm really hungry today, don't know if it's the change in weather (temps are heading back up to the 80's), another weight loss looming…

Good luck ladies! I had my surgery 11/28/12 and am down 120 lbs. Before surgery I started protein shakes and cutting back on my beloved diet cokes. My surgeon put me on a liquid diet for the two weeks prior to surgery (yes, thanksgiving sucked!). I did have complications, my internal stitches came undone and had to have…

Been a banner week for me!!! Ran 11.5 miles yesterday. (The first 10 in 90 minutes) The cooler weather here in VA is helping with my speed and logging my food regularly is helping with the weight loss. Starting Weight 147 Current Weight 140.6 Goal Weight 136 (want to hit 140 by my birthday - 10/7) Exercise goal: Run 12…

Congrats! What a great way to celebrate.

I would seriously consider buying off the rack for this. My sizing dropped so fast for the first 4 months. Then it stalled for a few months and dropped again. I started at a size 20 (plus) petite, by March (3 months out) I was wearing a size 10 pants. I now wear a size 4-6 petite. My one year anniversary from surgery will…

Came close to 140 (142 lb) mid-August, when I was in pain and not exercising or eating much. However, popped back up to 146 when I was able to eat again. Probably won't hit 140, by labor day but I'm OK with it. Still moving down the charts, slower is better at this point. Committed to run 1/2 marathon in December, which…
