  • I've barely scratched the surface of the links attached, but this conversation has me intrigued. Thanks for posting.
  • Oh, and you mention that your D is in range - if it isn't above 75% of the range, so in the top quarter of the range, it is not at optimal levels. (Thyroid patient here who has learned a bunch in the past decade about the significant difference between "lab acceptable range," "patient acceptable range," and "optimal…
  • It's kind of a simple math thing, too, when we start in the Morbidly Obese range... We are far more surface area from which to lose weight, so we could literally lose 1 inch of fat depth over our entire body and feel like we aren't any smaller when in reality, that could be 30-40 pounds!!! This is when I focus on health…
  • So-called "keto flu" is low sodium and electrolyte imbalances. Most time, it is 100% avoidable... @hbiscotti
  • @xDaniDragonflyx The most important thing for me was to resize the pictures - and to have someone else look at them. The easiest way to match picture size is to use the T-shape on your face as a guide. The distance between your eyes is set, as is between the eyes, nose, and mouth...they are all attached to bone guides.…
  • @DarthWaderMT I've heard some really good things lately about actual prescribed dental appliances for apnea for those who do not tolerate machine usage well (I'm one, too). I am working to make time for research before my next appointment...
  • In order for Calcium to get where it needs to go, you have do have D to absorb it, K2 to tell it where to go, magnesium and potassium to get it there, and boron and zinc to keep it there!! It's been a struggle for me, let me tell you! The kicker was the Boron... Made SO much difference. Apparently, you know how magnesium…
  • @4031isaiah I think I mentioned it before, but I read (well, listened to) an e-book called, "Change Anything: The New Science of Personal Success." One of it's main points was that WILLPOWER IS FINITE AND WILL FAIL YOU. It was really eye opening for me. And man, the number of subtle outside influences on us. Colors, music,…
  • I need to read through this, so I've saved it down. Thanks, as always, @cstehansen - for all of your hard work and dedicated research!
  • @Llamapants86 Congrats! That's some awesome progress there.
  • Goodness, @lamlam2013 Bombarding your whole family with some good thoughts and healing prayers!!!
  • @4031isaiah I'm soooo sorry to hear this. Having been on both sides of this (just visited or just missed visiting), I hope you're thankful that you got to visit while he was still here... <3 It makes a whole lot of difference in regrets and such. I'm sorry you had to travel so much, and that the siren song of comfort carbs…
  • @Lisbydezign I'm sorry to hear of your loss. (hugs) Happy Early Birthday. Just think of this - having a reasonably indulgent holiday (while seeing and doing all the things = lots of movement!) is why you've fought so hard lately. Life happens. Just don't let it set you back months. Restore your soul - that allows the body…
  • I managed to delete the comment I made this weekend, but I'll see if I can remember. Look up Darth Luiggi on Reddit/Keto. He's been weightlifting while keto for 10+ years, if I recall. Remember that anything over 25-30 minutes of intense exercise and 45-60 minutes of light exercise will create a hunger over and above…
  • @BarneyRubbleMD So it's time to just get started on the next binge-free streak. You've done it before, you know you can do it again. (hugs) Just remember to nourish yourself today. You deserve health... No guilt. Nourishment! (hugs)
  • @lilred806 Low vitamin B shouldn't be an issue on Keto of you're eating animal products, unless you have an underlying issue.
  • @FIT_Goat might also have some ideas for how to stay on plan at Disney...I forget his advice... Turkey legs, perhaps?
  • @skctilidie I have a few friends who stay fully keto at Disney World semi-regularly! Good luck. P.S. I think one blogged about her experience, if you're interested... https://www.rjtheodore.com/low-carb-disney-dining-plan-day-1/ She goes through all the days, week plus, including her reflections on what she would do…
  • https://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipes/low-carb-tortilla-chips-keto-gluten-free/ https://www.ruled.me/keto-tortilla-chips/ https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/fat-head-nachos/ https://simplysohealthy.com/best-low-carb-tortilla-chips/ And I've heard of and/or used each of these sites for various keto recipes before... I'd probably…
  • Thanks!!
  • The only thing I can suggest is to start getting rid of the guilt. If you binge, accept that your body had an emotional need of some kind, and that now you need to accept this. Do NOT punish yourself. You may regain for a short time, but getting rid of the guilt is one of the only things that contributed to helping me. At…
  • @elize7 This made me smile so much!!! <3 Yay... I'm so happy for you.
  • @xDaniDragonflyx Have you tried sipping hot tea? Gives you something to do with your hands, hints of sweetness (if fruit is your fave), or some rave about peppermint tea. Something else to munch on would be celery or a large...primarily "undecorated" salad, rather than the usual suspects. Some times of sugarless gum will…
  • @astartig This sensitivity to salt might also be to table salt/iodized salt. I've recently run across some medical data that says that table salt, and what's used in soy sauce as well as most cooking, if not explicitly sea salt ONLY, will spike blood pressure in many folks. Reportedly, sea salt is absorbed differently (and…
  • Actually, I read up on something similar recently. It has to do with getting oxygen into the muscles, since the way Keto works, it isn't naturally aerobic or something. Due to the lack of glucose, we need more of a light warm up to do anything that uses the muscles. They said as long as it calms down within 15-30 minutes…
  • And just a side-note, as it was just referenced in another post, but Lysine has anti-viral properties, and isn't expensive. Elderberry extract is also a viral inhibitor, though more expensive per dose than the lysine... I bought some to take as an immune system booster this flu season, since I have at least one coworker…
  • I take Lysine sometimes for the anti-viral effects. I'd not read about it for blood pressure. Granted, I still take magnesium glycinate, which has lysine in the formulation... @tcunbeliever - Do you have any resources you can share on the Lysine-blood pressure connection? I'd love to read up!
  • Oh, and a second enthusiastic vote for the Mississippi Roast and Egg-Roll-In-A-Bowl, too! Soul bread was okay for me (I messed up a recipe...LOL)... Burger in a bowl works, too, with a patty or ground meat. Probably my favorite meal I made, aside from taco meat for ALL THE TACO SALADS IN A BOWL...was a knock-off of Zuppa…
  • Our "sister" group also has a recipe sub-group that might give you some more resources... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/112055-the-low-carb-high-fat-recipes-group-lchf
  • I did post the links on page one, but here is the pictures I meant: Believe it or not, Staci is 11 pounds heavier (142 pounds) in the picture on the right (May 2011) compared to the picture on the left (131 pounds, October 2010). So amazing, the differences.
