  • I never grind mine, it doesn't matter if they are the black seeds or the white, I eat them whole. One good tip I learned, soak the chia in water until they become a gel, you can then substitute that for an egg in recipe's. so much lower calorie.
  • So true. I have some low carb friends, but no paleo/primal :-(
  • True, then you have a steak to die for. I have mainly rib eye, rump or sirloin and so far I have not had a dry tough one. Over here we can buy direct from the organic farm, and our supermarkets do carry a small supply. I was pleasantly surprised that even the supermarket organic meat is really very good. The farm meat will…
  • Thank you and the very best of luck. I may try out a 30 day challenge at some point, but I love Greek yogurt with berries, flax and chia seeds and really would struggle to cut them out. I keep telling myself I dropped carbs almost overnight, so why can't I do this. The mind is strong, but the craving for yogurt is…
  • Hi, I am in the UK but I do bake a lot. Mainly I use almond flour, but also coconut and peanut flour is good. I can't help with prices being t'other side of the pond, but for me, the cost of the flour is outweighed by the knowing what I am eating is wholesome and nutritious. That said, I still shop around as I can get…
  • Hello, I'm another newby to the group. I was diagnosed as a T2 diabetic and immediately I began to low carb. I researched different diets, and also met a guy who is paleo on another site. Seeing what he was doing, I looked deeper into P/P and decided it was right for me. I am primal as I do have some dairy, but I don't…
  • I absolutely agree, try to get your sugar fix from fruit. I know you know, but every time you give in to your cravings your body thinks 'hey this is good, if we keep at it long enough she will cave'. Once you wean yourself away from sugary things, you will suddenly realise that it's been x amount of time since you had a…
  • Hello, I am new to the group but not primal/paleo. With steak here in the UK to get a good quality grass fed piece, I always buy organic. Cooking, I lightly grill (broil (is that right)? then wrap up in tin foil and put in the oven. As I have seared it, you don't lose much juice, but the juice you do have the steak cooks…
  • I eat Chia seeds every day with Greek yogurt, berries and ground flax - yummy!
  • That shake sounds great, I think I will try it myself. I eat a lot of berries and always have some in. Thank you for sharing.
  • Can you eat dairy? (Primal diet rather than Paleo). If you can, you can make some wonderful snacks from scratch that will ease the cravings and satiate your craving. I eat primal except I don't have milk, but make things like bounty balls, they are coconut in the middle dark chocolate (high cocoa content) on the outside.…
  • I'm a low carb clean eater (T2 diabetic) and this is a really great site. Some recipe's wold be far to high in carbs for me, but many are brilliant. Thank you for sharing.
  • This is true. Diabetes can't be cured. Certainly it can be helped and by cutting carbs we do lose weight and it lowers our BG. Once we lose weight then our BG's are again easier to control - generally. I speak from knowledge and cutting my carbs to 30g a day or less reduced my levels to normal and drastically reduced my…
  • Your very welcome Bill. Sometimes when an issue is looked at from health or other perspectives, it's a little clearer to understand. Dr Atkins is certainly one of my hero's. :-)
  • I'm classed as an ultra low carber. I am a T2 diabetic and carbs send my BG soaring, so I eat, or try to eat less than 30g a day and stay in ketosis. By doing this diet the weight is just falling away, I am about 9lbs away from my idea weight, or at least I was before I went on holiday (I refuse to get on the scales this…
  • I eat primal as I won't give up cheese, Greek yogurt and cream. My weight has plummeted, but I do home bake a lot and that doesn't help the calorie count - sadly. I don't have any milk at all, just cream. I am in the UK so perhaps the grass fed meat is easier to come by? I don't know, but all my fruit (berry's are the only…
  • Greek yogurt with strawberry's, raspberry's, blueberry's and blackberry's with ground organic flax. I have this every single day with a large teaspoon of chia seeds. Yummmmmmmmmmy!
  • Absolutely! I weigh every last little thing so I know exactly what I am eating. I would be afraid I would have too much otherwise and as a T2 diabetic I can't afford to get things wrong.
  • Fruit and veg, my local greengrocer as everything is locally sourced and organic. Meat from my local butcher, again all locally sourced and organic is available. Holland and Barrett for specialist flours like coconut flour, also for nuts and seeds, and supplements, everything else is from Sainsbury's, even fresh fish as we…
  • Carbs in those levels will push my BG up to very dangerous levels. I eat an absolute maximum of 25g a day, and most of those are from fresh veggies.
  • Me too. I only eat at most 25g of carbs a day, but I do eat quite a bit of healthy fats. I'm a T2 diabetic so have to stay away from carbs, so to replace them, fat works for me.
  • I am a T2 diabetic, and am on day 8 of my version of the Newcastle diet. The only difference between what I am doing, and the study group is using Atkins shakes, as they are low in carbs. I am also not having any solid food, ie the veg for at least the first 4 weeks, then will add 200 calories of green leafy veg into my…
