  • I weigh in grams, if I am a little uncertain of an exact weight, I would rather go up a few grams just to be on the safe side.
  • ^This. I don't have artificial anything in the house. I eat Primal so it has to be clean for me. I wouldn't have margarine if it were free.
  • I'm 47 and weigh 131lbs. I have lost over 100lbs and have around 5 to go. Not sure if I will stick to that as I wear a UK size 12 (USA size 8) but due to loose skin know I would be a UK size 10 (USA 6) but don't want surgery.
  • I eat clean while losing and I plan to eat clean when I get to maintenance. The extra calories will allow for treats and such, and we shouldn't decide to never eat higher calorie/treat foods ever again. Life is too short and if you feel your jeans are a little tight just reduce calories and get rid of the little extra.…
  • I bought a beautiful summer suit as a reward for doing well, I didn't look at the sizes properly and it arrived two sizes too small. I am soooo close to being able to fit into that suit. It has now become my goal. Once I fit into it I will be happy with my size. We CAN do this ladies. :-)
  • I am T2 diabetic and I take Metformin. When I first took it, it decimated my appetite and I lost a hell of a lot of weight far too quickly. I still take Met now and while it does little for my BG I have superb control with 25g or less of carbs a day, it does offer good cardio vascular protection so my Doctor is happy to…
  • Ultra low carb primal, so about 99% clean. I am also T2 diabetic hence the ULC. I love this lifestyle it suits me and my health needs perfectly. Like everyone I slip now and again, hence I didn't claim to eat 100% clean. :-)
  • I'm T2 diabetic. I eat primal, and under 25g of carbs a day and have been under 25g for a year and a half. I don't eat wheat or grains, and my only carbs come from veggies, berries (the only fruit I eat) nuts and seeds. I am now 111 pounds lighter and love low carb. For me there is no better lifestyle especially when my…
  • I am five and a half weeks out of having an appendectomy. I ate much less the week I was in hospital as the food was gross. I lost half a stone in the week I was in hospital and three days prior with appendicitis. Since I have been home my appetite is appalling, I am really struggling to eat. I just eat as much as I can…
  • I eat primal (ultra low carb) as I am diabetic. I found making up a 'snack bowl' helped. Mine has low carb high fat items, but you can put in whatever you like. To try to get into a better routine of not snacking, make up a bowl, reduce the calorie content by a set amount each week. You could then get yourself our of the…
  • Ultra low carb, keto adapted for over a year now. I eat Primal and love it. FR me if you like. :-) I am in the UK.
  • The OP sadly is right. My aha moment came the day I was diagnosed as T2 diabetic. My whole world fell apart for a short while. I then picked myself up and realized it's now or never, the decision was easy. Do I wish I had done this sooner? Oh, hell yes. Now, I am on a strict diet for my diabetes and to lose weight. Ok, I…
  • This. I have lost over 100 pounds and have always eaten the yolks, and always will. The cholesterol in the yolk stops our bodies having to make it, so why not eat the yolk and get the goodness from them?
  • Ditto, I think my fat is around 65% almost all sat fat.
  • I second those thanks.
  • YES!! Most months only a pound or two and it comes off quickly, this month it was five pounds and I feel quite sluggish and bloated. Roll on the menopause, due any time now. :-)
  • I can't help but agree. We are for the most part adults, who can work out for themselves with a bit of understanding and help what is right for us. I see this same kind of post over and over and actually think it's rather quite rude. Perhaps people should mind their own business and let others do the same. People will post…
  • Ditto. Each day I put two tablespoons of Braggs ACV into a large tumbler, add lime juice and down it goes. Does it help? Who knows, but with some trace elements as long as it's heavily diluted I see no harm. In the UK we can't buy ACV with the mother, I have to order mine on line.
  • Cake, especially old fashioned recipe English traditional fruit cake. As a diabetic I can't have it. Life is so unfair!!
  • Are you sure you're not me? I could have written this post in every single way!!
  • Welcome to the group, for someone diagnosed for such a short time, your determination to find help and advice is truly amazing, well done. Too many people leave everything to their Doctor. When I was first diagnosed I was shown this website: http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf It helped me so much to learn how to reduce carbs…
  • I couldn't eat broccoli, the texture made me gag. I wanted to eat it though as it is so good for us. I found something called sweet stem broccoli in my local supermarket (I am in the UK) I tried it and yippee I can manage that, It also taught me, if I cut regular broccoli into very small florets I can manage them. It is…
  • "I drink 1/4 c of heavy cream almost every day. I'm also a huge fan of butter, bacon and cheese. My lipid panel had improved tremendously, as has my weight " Ditto - I eat loads of butter, bacon, cream, cheese along with veggies which I cover in butter or cream if I make creamed leeks. I eat red meat almost ever day too…
  • Oh I so agree with No's 1 and 3. The other bad thing, when I curl up in bed I can't have one knee on the other, they are too boney and it hurts. :-)
  • My largest macro is fat and the majority of it is sat fat. It really boils down to what you believe. I don't believe for a second sat fat is bad my grandparents ate loads of it and my grandmother lived to her 90's. It really is about your personal views on dietary fat.
  • Add strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and flax and I agree with you. Healthy yummy meal for anytime of the day!!
  • If you are feeling deprived of the yummy carby food out there, I would advise you Google low carb (insert the food you crave). Quite often you can find what you want with a lower carb count. I eat under 25g of carbs a day, I don't feel deprived but I do sometimes wish I could have certain things. So far I have always been…
  • I read this thread with a bit of guilt. I have not been drinking nearly enough water. I went into town and bought a one litre sports bottle today, filled it and have got loads more water in today. I add a slice of lime and it's so refreshing. I really needed this thread, thank you OP!
  • That's true. The average UK size is a 16, I am currently a 14 (US 10). I would like to get to a UK 10 (US 6) but with my height, build etc it may only ever be a dream and I can only reach a 12. Either way, I am down over 100 pounds, so wherever I do finally end up, it's better than where I began. I have never wanted to be…
  • I had fruit cake with wheat flour and sugar last week (a cheat day I sorely regret). It took 4 days of not being able to be too far away from the bathroom for things to settle down again. We live and learn. Welcome back :-)
