OK...THANK YOU ALL! You were RIGHT ON about how nice they were and informative. They had a track around the store and the gal had me walk quite a bit around...back and forth...barefoot then in every shoe she put me in before we FINALLY found the right ones! Oh my GOODNESS what a difference. When I put these on it was…

Let me know what you find out! I'm researching the same thing, which is how I found your post! ;-)

get the ultra or the one. they both track flights of stairs and sleep. I didn't think I would use the sleep feature, but after discovering (from my activity level on fitbit) that I sleepwalk, it has been WELL worth it!

I just got my fitbit ultra in April. I would LOVE the sync ability and vibrate awake feature of the fitbit one, but my budget is really tight right now and buying pants that don't fall off is a higher priority than the fitbit upgrade. I'm kind of hoping they will offer some kind of upgrade discount that will make it…

Biscuits and gravy is a savory dish... I forget what the brittish name is...but something to do with soda because they are made with baking soda. It is a flour, baking soda, salt, butter (lard or shortening...I like shortening best) cut together and then rolled out and cut into circles. They rise when baked into a flaky…

Even within the states there are language oddities. In the south, "do you want a coke" means "would you like a beverage" In Wisconsin...a Bubbler is a drinking fountain...or "water fountain" as many people say, which I always had a hard time with because a "water fountain" to me is a shallow type of pool of water with a…

I checked facebook, cooked a breakfast for my teenager, shopped for running shoes, looked up a calendar of 5k's in my area and registered for one (my first), creeped on my friends blogs...checked facebook AGAIN...and still no newsfeed. Honestly didn't realize how dependant I am on it! (hmmm...food addiction becomes MFP…

http://www.bigriverrunning.com/ I'm not supporting the store...just the HUGE listing of area 5k runs (and other runs) I found out about it after I got a letter sent home from my kids high school about the school's 5k fund raiser. (it will be my first 5k ever) The link connected me to bigriverrunning and I was totally BLOWN…

I'm 44 (do I have to admit "and a half" like my kids?) Feel free to add me. I'm in for life. This is NOT a diet. It is lifestyle changes. I am doing it VERY slowly, one healthy habit at a time. My goal is not a specific weight...it is the maintenance of that weight! Good luck on your journey and feel free to add me anyone!

CONGRATULATIONS!

This is lifestyle for me...so no hard and fast rules. Just slowly building better habits. What I have done so far is LOG EVERYTHING (I try to log BEFORE I eat it, kind of like checking to see if I have enough money before buying an item) -not drinking calories (I used to do starbucks or high sugar coffee drinks almost…

Bump for when I am home and can copy/past to my cozi recipe file! I LOVE doing crock pot cooking! No way as a single working mom that I could keep my crew fed otherwise!

Native- English (American, though I am known for throwing in British spelling on things like colour...) When I speak, I have a unique accent that is a mix of Wisconsin (Canada Light-eh, dontchaknow...and ALL o's have TWO syllables) and southern texas (all y'all want to friend me now?) NEAR Native ASL (I'm not a CODA but I…

I always take the stairs (never elevator...but this isn't new since I was trapped alone in an elevator when I was 14). I take the long way around whenever there IS a long way around. I use the bathroom UPSTAIRS (and take the stairs to get there and back) I'm a clutz and I drop things so I get in extra squats and lunges. If…

Feel free to add me. I splurged and got a fitbit which keeps me going. I use the bathroom upstairs so I get more flights of stairs in every day, and I park further away, and I walk the long way around. I finally started couch to 5k (free on line and free phone app) and I do that on the treadmill with a fan blowing at me…

Yeah...I googled, too. Seems half a pint is one cup...so four pints or more per day. "It comes in PINTS?!" (Quote from Lord of the Rings that I couldn't help but post...I'm such a Geek!)

Balance it out by adding some protein which helps to level out your blood sugars. Instead of a sugar high followed by the crash (the sleepy feeling) you should get more even energy levels. Good luck!

Seconded!

PLEASE remember that the end GOAL is maintaining HEALTH and not the number on the scale. My dad has lost 160 pounds THREE separate times in his life. He always says the problem isn't getting it off...it's keeping it off. For me...getting it off isn't terribly easy, either, but I'm working to do it one habit at a time…

Thank you all! Amazing and profound people here! I am so blessed!

For the whining...I think it is a typical phase at that age...I summoned amazing patience and would say "Sure, when you ask me in a big boy voice!" (or big Girl voice for my step daughter, who STILL whines with her MOTHER, but not with me.) As for the tantrums...NEVER give in. NEVER. Then when it happens, early on (you…

Simple MATH If you break/cut it in half, it halves the calories, right? So just keep halving until it is a bunch of crumbs (this can also be accomplished by chewing a minimum of 32 times! Which SHOULD put you into the negative calorie realm with all of the facial muscles involved...) and then when you are down to .00000009…
