  • Tomorrow I weigh in. I look forward to Fridays, because it is a day for me to evaluate my progress. YES to progress. YES to confidence. YES to doing what I can each day to lose weight and develop good habits.
  • I just wanted to add here that I am really excited to see so many people interested in a topic concerning health and knowledge. With this much energy being put forward on thinking about what to put into our bodies, heck, we should all be down at least a pound this week just from concentration. Here's to health and good…
  • Thank you, it was indeed just something to share. Meanwhile, I stand by my posting that it is healthier to drink less than 8 glasses of "pure water " per day than to force down 8 glasses of "chemically sweetened and flavored water".
  • Yep. Drink 8 glasses (or more) if you want, but it is a myth that 8 glasses is "required" for the average person under normal conditions.
  • Yes, that is what I speaking about in my original post. I'm glad that many of you have seen that. :)
  • The article did not say that 8 glasses was bad for you. It just said that it is a myth that the average person needs that much. If you want more, go for it. But if you want less that 8 glasses, don't feel the need to force it down (especially if you have to disguise the bland taste with chemicals). Of course, as others…
  • The purpose of the post is to point out that it is myth that the average body needs 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day. My statement is from by an article which bases their viewpoint on science. The topic came to mind to me in another posting where there was conversation that evolved to include about whether adding…
  • I get an organic vanilla flavored soy milk from Costco (their brand). It is actually tasty. And, it does not need to be refridgerated until it is opened. And, because it is storable, it is part of my hurricane and earthquake supplies (better prepared than left without food during an emergency!).
  • Dr. John McDougall is a well known expert on dietary needs. His website states: "To be on the safe side, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends men, women, and children should get five percent of their calories from protein. WHO recommends pregnant women should get six percent." "Americans are getting too much…
  • There are many myths out there, without any science behind the myths. I am here to learn, and welcome MFPs to find a reliable source with scientific evidence of a counter position and post it for us!
  • I am editing my posting, it sounded too mean and did not represent well what I wanted to say. I think there is validity in being careful of the amount of water you consume. Also, there is not any science behind needing excessive amounts of water (even 8 glasses a day is not needed). We need to be cautious to not pursue a…
  • Well to add to the conversation, there is NO SCIENCE behind the advice that you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. For a starting point on this fact, google, or see the article: "The claim that you need eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day has been debunked. Again."…
  • Hi Everyone. It is always nice to read all your posts and see what is up with everyone. We each have our own lives but the thread of seeking weight loss and a healty lifestyle runs through us all. Everyone have a great Thursday! DeeDee

  • The judge was a jolly looking fellow, sort of a mix between a round bodied Santa and a cheerful Col. Sanders, of the deep fried chicken fame, which of course made the entire group start to get hungry because they'd not eaten since their arrest the night before.

  • Perhaps there is no "real" sugar in it, and instead it has some other sort of other sweetener that they are beating around bush about. Because if it is pure lemon juice, there are no calories. It is a SWEETENER that turns lemon juice into lemonaide. And the type of sweetener would tell how many calories are added.
  • I couldn't follow what was the lie to you, but I agree about not spending at a business that lies. That is why I stopped spending $$ at McDonalds, years ago they lied when they said that their oil was vegetable, but the truth was that it was from animal byproducts.
  • A slice of crunchy whole wheat toast. Just plain - I love the natural sweet taste of whole wheat toast.
  • So I did my event yesterday, and there was only junk food (chips, etc), so I just drank water. Unfortunately, when I got home I was overly hungry, and that always leads to me overeating. It is like once my brain recognizes that there is food available, it goes into "eat eat eat" mode, and I overeat. First a low-cal…
  • celebrate life by dancing naked in the fountain pool in front of the police station, exposing their bodies of varies sizes and shapes to the entire city police department, which was guaranteed to end up in getting them all handcuffed and thown into the "drunk tank".
  • I had a productive day with "work & chores", but on my diet I regained a pound. Tomorrow I have a volunteer function, and who knows what I'll end up eating. Sigh. Here comes that problem of trying to lose that last 10 pounds. I gotta stock up on some low calorie snack foods, maybe some airpopped popcorn. My mind is kinda…

  • Hi. It is evening and I am about to log in my food for the day. I usually wait until the house is quiet and then settle in for some MFP support. Everyone, have a fantastic Tuesday and keep plugging along towards the goal of your weight loss. Here is to a healthy life, full of fun and exercise.
  • I like to weigh myself daily, so that I can feel the "reward" if I've dropped a bit, and on the other hand I can give fuller concentration to what I am eating, if I've not dropped. But, everyone needs to figure out which works best for them. Some find weighing daily as stressful. But I find that weighing daily is a tool…
