  • never would use food prep, even if doing loads you don't need to move around that much but would use housework if doing something out of the ordinary, eg carpet shampooing the house, doing all the floors, moving furniture but then i very rarely do large amounts in one go
  • how do I join? or do I just have to post lol
  • HI I am Andrea (despite my profile name!!) originally looking to lose 22lb now round about 16lb but not doing very well at this. I am 43 and work in Adult Education feel free to add me.
  • my cross rottie does that too however our first rottie never realised she was one lol and I expect she would have run rather than fought to protect me
  • my lab often barks at men, or people approaching us in the dark (unless I order him not too and/or distract him) but, like someone else has said, this is fear on his part and if the barking did not scare someone off he would likely run!!! (He is rescue and was badly treated in the past) My other dog is a rottie cross black…
  • feel free to add me. I teach Adult English in the UK and manage a curriculum dept however I am currently looking to move into a local FE college. I am similar size and weight to you Andrea
  • Parents don't usually supply cleaning or other equipment either!!
  • I am in the UK and I have never heard of having to send in anything for the teacher to give out!!! Once a year there was always a school Christmas party where all parents would send food including cakes/sweets but that was once a year. Many UK schools do enforce a ban on sweets and crisps (for americans crisps are a common…
  • It will normally depend in part on how much you have to lose however you are quite small to begin with. Have you got a before and after photo to share on here as maybe you can't see it but we will? It not then it will come quite soon for you but maybe also look at doing strength or anything that will tighten up your body…
  • 30 (I am the female in my profile pic)
  • I run with my lab sometimes. On normal walks he is a puller so I use a special harness that puts the main weight on his front however this limits him rather than stops him from pulling. If we are somewhere he can go off lead all is fine as he has good recall unless there is water near by and then he ignores me until he…
  • I don't suffer from it but my grown up sons have had it for years!!! I found myself chuckling away the first time I saw the advert as i now know that there is a name for this strange affliction that my sons have and also that it must be very common if they have decided to turn it into an advert.
  • You may be making the mistake that many people make at first with C25K, including myself. often newbies run far to fast on the running seconds and so tire all too quickly. It took me to week four and having to stop to be sick to realise that I was doing the running bits too fast. it should be just slightly more than fast…
  • depends on your age but ALL adults have some sign of wear and tear = arthritis and docs are quick to write people off when actually there is so much that you can do. I have hip arthritis and doc said not to run however I paid for sports physio and lo and behold I can run again, (still building up) Seriously I recommend at…
  • if you don't feel clams in the glutes, tilt your hip when doing them, also do them with legs raised as the foot end. http://www.runnersworld.com/injury-prevention-recovery/study-links-hip-instability-runners-knee
  • my pilates teacher takes into account my dodgy hip and gives alternative exercises for anything that puts stress on the hip flexors (my weak area) Mind you it makes me feel a little old as the two other people in the class needing adaptions for hips, have both had hip replacements and must be in their late 60s/70s!!
  • maybe add in regular pilates to balance out your body and eventually avoid injuries. Should help with all sports really as well as being good in its own right.
  • I like blogilites, has lots of pilates plus hiit and cardio workouts that you can follow as a series or pick and mix. you can find mini 10 min workouts that you can easy fit in to odd time and/or use as part of a bigger programme and it is all free
  • I would go with something that you can adapt to your own level first. The Zumba classes I have been to (based in a local school/village centre etc ) have tended to have a mix of age (from 14 -60+) and fitness levels in there are also mixed as it is very much a case of 'put into it at your own level'. Though others on here…
  • starting weight 146 ib goal 140 work out 5 days a week = 1/2 before breakfast (swim/run) additional work = pilates min 2 time per week at least 2 classes per week (any cardio and/or home workout) walk briskly 3 + times per week
  • I bought some for the first time last week to do oil pulling with it and to moisturise my hair but in the space of a few days I have used it in cooking (flavour for rice), added to my baths, done oil pulling and discovered the best use for it yet!!!!! on the dogs! Melt a little between my hands and then rub over the dogs…
  • growing up in the uk in the 70s on a low budget we did not have much in the way of treats, take aways, puddings, sweets or meals out so that helped and veg was a part of main mains but it was really boring food and very low standard! all veg and potatoes were pressure cooked to death and meat was usually the cheapest cuts…
  • difficult to say without all the facts since we can't tell if the parent is buying their own food, using little or lots of utilities (e.g. tonnes of electric equipment etc) but if money was tight and the parent was happy to contribute then I would take it, at a fair amount, in the sense that we are all in it together and…
  • yolk for me too lol but then I might have the whole egg scrambled with smoked salmon or as an omelette with mozzarella cheese (low fat) and ham/tomatoes/mushrooms etc depending on what is in the fridge.
  • well done, it has clearly worked well for you. I think the C25K programme is just such a great thing that everyone should try it. Made for all beginners, can be worked on at the level that suits the user and though challenging, it is so easy to work through if you push yourself. It is also free to download and needs very…
  • have been having a similar problem and I am aged 43 and was eating fairly low carb. I tried eating more...I tried eating less....neither made a difference however.... I have just started losing again following a diet called 2 weeks in the fast lane. Very easy to do, no funny foods and plenty to eat. I think I have found…
  • no deep reasons for me, I just got older and less active, but carried on eating all the same foods as I always had. When younger, a combination of running after kids, a reasonable metabolic rate, not owning my own car, plenty of housework, jobs that involved being active etc.. meant that I stayed the skinny thing I had…
  • I don't know how old you are but you sound similar to me. I am 5'3 too and eat around 1400-1600 a day though my working out is not as consistent as yours but I do try. I lost 11lb when I first started and then got stuck for months and months. I started at 159. I have recently re set my ticker and started again trying new…
  • I am in that group I think! at 43 I get a lot of water retention and the weight ain't going off like it used to!! But I still live in hope lol. fortunately for me, I had my kids young so not having to look after little ones!
