Best thing about the new year
I am not into New Year promises but that does not mean I don't face the New Year with optimism. What sort of things are you looking towards in 2018.

Currently doing stronglifts 5x5 and only a few weeks in, so on a very low weight but I have an old hip problem starting to reoccur. Last time it was linked to running and had me out of action for weeks and involved expensive physio to recover so I am wanting to avoid this this time. My main problem is using the hip flexors…

Define low fat please!
Hi, due to gall bladder disease I have been told to eat low fat all the time and I was wondering if there is a simple calculation e.g. food with less than ?% to know whether something really is low fat. Obviously I know lots of veg and fruit and no fried stuff but I am thinking of recipes I use, meals out etc. Though I…

Help please, where do I start in simple laymans' terms
Please help me find the place to start. I have been on MFP for a long time and seen no real weight loss despite calorie counting (and doing it proper) and increasing my fitness, which is a bonus. There is just so much info on here and elsewhere that contradicts and I have got myself lost in it all. What I can doI like…

People with less than 20lb to lose from start to finish
Hi, there are some amazing stories on here of people losing lots of weight but what about those that came on here with smaller amounts to lose as being so close to goal when starting, can also be a challenge. Details please of those that met goals under 20ib and how you did it. Pics would be nice too.

Yoga or pilates?
those of you that run please..... what will work best? yoga (fairly standard style not chanting style) or pilates or both! how to pull my stomach in
Right I know spot reduction does not happen and I am using diet and exercise to lose overall weight but can anyone recommend good exercises for the ab area to help me develop my poorly used muscles and pull that stomach in? I am not after body builder abs, just want to train the muscles better, just like I already do with…

M-100
anyone do these and if so have you had good results? I just followed a link and they looked useful, especially for next week when I am on holiday and/or days when I have little spare time. I already do kettlebells at home, zumba and lots of walking so looking as an add on rather than an only exercise.

are short bursts as good as longer sessions
this may be a daft question but if you did some form of exercise 10 mins at a time, five times a day would you be burning the same as doing one 50 min session?

30 days of no losses
Well I started this in March and lost 4lbs only over the first fews and then stalled. For 30 days now I have not lost a single thing despite only going over once to any significant amount (and it was my birthday) plus the odd over by 100-200 cals but also the odd under by the same amount too. I have put my cals up a little…

struggle to eat 1200!
I have only been doing this for just over a week and beforehand I was generally eating well with a few pig outs (curry take aways/wine/cheese) each week. The rest of the time I had good breakfast, decent lunch and ok tea! Now that I am doing this I have cut out some of the rubbish (and keep the rest within the calories…

Hi I am new too
I am female (despite my log in name suggesting otherwise) and I am 41 nearly 42. I changed jobs a few years ago to one that involves sitting down a lot and now I am paying the price. Would be great to chat with professional working women around my age, also attempting to lose weight.
