Please help me find the place to start. I have been on MFP for a long time and seen no real weight loss despite calorie counting (and doing it proper) and increasing my fitness, which is a bonus.

There is just so much info on here and elsewhere that contradicts and I have got myself lost in it all.

What I can do
I like running but I am still only at the 5k stage
I am interested in lifting and have access to very basic set up at home (simple bench, dumbells/bar and some weights) and, once I know what to do I can also use in a gym but currently I don't have the confidence.
I have access to classes and do enjoy yoga/pilates (I have joint issues so this helps) and I have been trying body pump- more to learn some form rather than any long term plan.

Physically I have asthma but can exercise fine. I had real problems with my hip that stopped my running for months and now means I need to keep under 3 runs a week. Weak wrists but can work on that.

5"3.5 in height and 149 lb with too much on my belly.

At least 80% of diet is home cooked with some take a ways on on Friday night or the odd meal out so food not too bad. I am currently eating around maintenance to counter act low calories for a while.

Help me please- or at least point me in the right place to start
