Hi PURR tro fee

Dont listen to sarcastic-man:wink: Dont start in front, you will be trampled! Get there in plenty of time esp if you didnt pick up your bib. Dont worry about carb loading, but do try to use the restroom before the race. Start at a comfortable pace. You can always speed up. Since you have only been running for 3 months dont…

I quit diet soda for about 6 months. Didn't make a bit of difference to my body when I started back up again. When I quit I did have the caffeine withdrawal headache for about a week. Drank the flavored water but not very fond of it. So I never actually gave up the artificial sweeteners ever. I noticed no change in my body…

Yea--that doesn't work really well. How long does it take to burn off 2000 calories? You can't exercise off a bad diet unless you are a professional athlete, and they are typically disciplined in their exercise and their diet.
-
I run fasted as I get cramping and side stitches if I eat. I can drink fluids but not too much, for the same reason.
-
Well, I don't think my son is going to be ready for the race--so I will probably have an extra bib if anybody is interested.

If you don't pay attention to your diet and you start running, you will begin to get hungry due to running. You can pack on the pounds that way. You have to pay attention to your diet or how your clothes fit and/or your weight and make adjustments if the clothes get tight or the scale numbers go up. I am starving all the…

I don't feel them much with squats either, but weighted LUNGES---wow! My tush <glutes> are sore for days after if I do lunges right.

You are about my age, and I started running a bit over a year ago. Pushing too fast early on (not running much at all) sidelined me with a knee injury for a couple of months. I ran a few 5K's then 2 10K's and did my first 1/2 in June. I am very slow and didn't want to race the 1/2 (I had 10 days to prepare as my friend…

This x 1000! Please read it, it is priceless.

Read the following--if I had read it I would not have been sidelined with an injury last year. Priceless advice from a very experienced runner. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running?

In for 100--will likely be treadmill for the most part--so hot and humid in florida recently.
-
As long as your kidneys work fine you are good to go.
-
I was expecting something masculine-facial hair, large shoulders, narrow waist, narrow hips, muscles, hairy chest & extremities. You have a serious body image problem.

I agree, I am very lucky! We have passes to not only Disney (well sort of, hubby works for the Mouse so we can get in on non-black-out dates) and to Universal. However kids have gotten bored of Disney since we have gone so much. Since I just started running last year, my son and I have run only one Disney race and we are…

It was actually ok--I decided to not race it but to run it like a long run. I walked at each aid station--there were 14 if you could believe it! I had water at each station, about 1-2 ounces I would guess, and twice I had gatorade. I tried the goo at mile 7, which just made me really thirsty. I also took advantage of the…

Great job and Congrats!

I try to run in the early morning, or after dark. But really, I am transitioning to treadmill runs.

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1069268-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition ^^. Read the getting started forum. After you read that, and all the links, calculate out your daily energy requirement and depending on how much weight you need to lose subtract 500-1000 calories from that number. Don't overestimate…

Just. No. All you are doing is losing muscle. Not the way to do it.
-
I haven't done a full- and every race that I have signed up for handed out the shirts with the race packets. It was the medals that got handed out at the finish line. A Florida thing perhaps?
-
Nothing. I get fluid before a run - good old diet Pepsi- and head out. Did my first Half Marathon without eating before mile 7 or so when I had some weird chocolate goo that made me really thirsty. Should have skipped it. I would have been fine. Of course diet Pepsi isn't the best fluid but it is my one bad habit. Oh well.

Dave does more 5 K's, I would likely stick with his advice. Carson is more of a long distance expert, but Dave is too. I don't know!
-
I think when my goal became to be fitter than to lose weight. I would love to get rid of the stomach hang. But I am already at a good weight for my height. Just need to firm things up!
-
Awesome job! Keep up the good work and read this if you haven't yet: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running?

Not only do you have secondary amenorrhea, you may have the female athlete triad--which includes osteopenia. Not having enough nutrition also weakens muscles, joints, and contributes to injury. While many women would relish not having a period (I know that never bothered me), the long term effects of this are not good.…

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running? Just read that first post^^
-
YES!!!! I was going to post this if I didn't see it. READ it and HEED! Great advice and I wish the mods would pin it already! Just make sure you increase slowly so you don't get hurt-been there. Just to let you know, running sucks at first for everybody, not just those who have extra weight to lose. Don't give up …
