Intense college and post grad classes. Too busy to bite nails.

Steamed broccoli until I am full then stop eating. Skip the dinner. Make sure I hit my macros the best I can. Exercise so I can eat more. Start over tomorrow. Bad/hungry days happen to everyone. Just have a plan for when it happens.

Congratulations

Contrary to popular belief, one's TSH does not necessarily have to be elevated to indicate hypothyroidism. As I stated earlier, a low TSH in combination with a low T4 can be indicative of central hypothyroidism. Endocrinologist. Not internet! [/quote] Uhm, you need to have a low T4 to have hypothyroidism. You cannot, by…

Join the long distance runner's group. Training2befast, SonicDeathMonkey, and Dave Martinez are great, plus you will get additional wisdom from CarsonRuns and one more Dave. However, I am betting that all will tell you to ease up on the speed of achieving your goals--Marathon next year.

I am still trying to figure out where the fat is.

Don't give up--the first month or two is really hard, but once you can run for 10 minutes straight it gets MUCH easier. Read the pinned topic in Fitness and Exercise : So You Want To Start Running, and heed the advice. It is priceless. Just remember that while your heart and lungs will adapt (relatively) quickly, it takes…

I feel you. I have been out for 3 months, doing physical therapy and got the ok to start running again--same stupid pain returned. No advice, though since I haven't been able to run again.

Um, do what you like, and you will enjoy, and what you will do consistently. I like running more, but bike as cross training and when my body decides to act up because I have been neglecting my stretching/strengthening/cross training. For me, I can burn more calories running in the same time frame. I would have to bike for…

Looks wonderful!

Hmm. What marathon?

If you don't like running then don't run. Find something else. Lots of stuff out there. If you want to like running but it sucks and hurts when you start--join the club. And read the stickied topic at the very top of Fitness and Exercise: "So You Want To Start Running".
-
Did you read the sticky post at the top of "so you want to start running"? Read it. Good stuff there.

Just keep in mind that errors up to 20% are possible. If your calorie count for weight loss and maintenance is small, those small errors in counting could affect your progress.

Get fitted at a running shoe store--then purchase them to keep them in business. You can ask to trial last years model which should be discounted, or look online for previous years models which could be discounted 75% (I have never been that lucky, but have gotten prior models at discounts of 50%). Shoes are the one thing…

Rowing machine--upper and lower body. Those crew boys are ripped and in great cardio shape.

Probably won't be 100% accurate but better than nothing. I wouldn't pause the HR monitor during the rest breaks, would be too much of a pain. It might overestimate a bit due to the rest periods.

The more expensive the protein powder the sooner is the expiration date. For the most part it is a guide, not a "this is pure poison after the following date" fact.
-
Those are two different questions. Strength training will "tone" your arms (lots of ways to do this). Weight loss in general while maintaining muscle mass will make them look leaner. Maintaining muscle mass means you have to lose weight slowly and have adequate protein intake. Crash diets and rapid weight loss will leech…

Battery is low, or the chest strap is in need of cleaning or replacement. Chest straps should be rinsed after each use, left to air dry, and washed every 5-7 uses. Try these things, and if none work to improve your situation call the company for advice.

If you want to be accurate then weigh the pan, add the oil, record the weight. Cook the egg out and re-weigh the pan and leftover oil after it is cool. The difference is how many grams (and you are using a scale that records to the gram, correct?) of oil you are eating with the egg. 1 gram oil = 9 Kcal. You can also weigh…

Sounds like you need to see your doc. Have you?

My fastest 5K was actually a surprise. I was running my second half marathon and increasing the pace toward the end. At some point in the last 3.1 miles of the half I beat my 5K PR. By a minute.

Try different cardio--swimming/cycling/rowing. Just don't do anything that hurts until you get authorization from a medical professional.
-
See your doc and get fixed up. Do something else to get in cardiovascular shape in the meantime that doesn't make you hurt. Then do the C25K plan, but if it is too much for you repeat days or weeks if necessary. Don't skip rest days. Make sure you stretch (find a good runner's yoga routine). Do strengthening exercises--you…

I think the previous poster never saw the movie "Airplane".

Feel free to add me--but join the long distance runners group. There are quite a few experienced distance runners who have seen nearly everything and give great advice. The advice given on the general forums (with the exception of the stickied "so you want to start running" topic) is hit/miss at best. Congrats on your goal!

Wonderful. I haven't been able to run in 5 weeks. Looks like I may be starting from scratch again. when the hip heals that is.
-
My goals for 2015 are: Stay injury free Cross train at least 2 days per week Maintain my stretching routine. All of those will help me start running again. When I am healed, I would like to start running again, slowly building up mileage so I don't get injured. I also would not like to wimp out in the heat next summer, and…
