HRM for These Activities?

Hello,
I know so many posts have been added about HRM and such but I've been seeing a lot of mixed responses. I understand they work for "steady state cardio" and would not display accurate results for, say, weight lifting. I wanted to ask how HRMs fare when it comes to a cardio-kickboxing class and also a conditioning boot camp class? There will be a few moments of rest but otherwise it's drill drill drill. Would I pause the HRM during the moments of rest or just leave it on all the way through? Or would it be completely useless?
Thanks

Probably won't be 100% accurate but better than nothing. I wouldn't pause the HR monitor during the rest breaks, would be too much of a pain. It might overestimate a bit due to the rest periods.0

My guess is that the inaccuracy from the rest breaks would sorta-kinda cancel out the inaccuracy from the points where you're coming close to maxing your heart rate. It's all fudge factor anyhow -- if you lose too fast, you adjust up...lose too slow, adjust down.0
