Hungry Days

I overate a bunch on Monday night going out to eat and ended up getting a migraine and the runs until noon today. Now, I feel extremely hungry.

Today I ate a couple homemade muffins, a bowl of yogurt & berries, and a bowl of veggies with a little bit of shredded cheese on top. I also drank 7 large glasses of water. But I still feel really hungry!

I only have 280 cal left in my (modified, higher) goal today, and I know supper alone will be closer to 400 cal. I only have an hour and a half until supper, but I feel extremely hungry now & am starting to get a headache.

Before I overate, I wasn't having this much trouble when I stuck to my calorie allotment. I'm guessing this is a sort of "hangover" from overeating.

Does this sort of thing happen to you? What do you do when you're really hungry but don't have many calories left for the day?

Steamed broccoli until I am full then stop eating. Skip the dinner. Make sure I hit my macros the best I can. Exercise so I can eat more. Start over tomorrow.

Bad/hungry days happen to everyone. Just have a plan for when it happens.

This is where watching your macros comes in handy. I find protein and fat more satiating. I try to get both at every meal. I'm not an expert, but I don't think it's a hangover type deal.

I can't tell exactly, but your list of foods sounds low in protein and (maybe) fat.

280 + exercise would give you more calories. Can you go for a walk before dinner? Focus on protein for dinner and maybe a nice side salad with (full fat) dressing.

If the hunger thing happens often, perhaps you may re-visit your initial settings. An aggressive weekly goal will give you a really low daily allotment.

I did revisit my initial settings, up from 1200 to 1300. I didn't have too much trouble with 1200 when I was living alone, but sharing a kitchen, having to eat a large dinner with my family, and always having fresh baked goods (even "healthy" fresh baked goods) in the house, 1200 won't cut it.

I've watched my macros carefully today, and I only have 7g of protein left to reach! I can probably go for a walk after 6, but since it's 33 degrees today my mom's worried about the heat and definitely won't let me go until then.

We only have frozen vegetables in the house today, but I'll see what we're eating for dinner and try to replace some non-protein things with those. I definitely can't skip dinner, that would make my parents really freak out.

If your mom doesn't trust you to walk on the heat and will freak out if you skip dinner...are you old enough to be here? That just makes my spidey senses all tingly. Regardless, 1200-1300 is pretty low. There's probably a reason you feel ravenous and it's probably because you aren't eating enough calories.

I'm 21, and she said I can go out now that it's later. I live in her house, I follow her rules lol.

Argh, ok. I thought 1lb/week wasn't too fast but maybe it is. I'm really short (5'2") and at 1.5lbs/week it sets it at 1220cal/day. I figured out I couldn't do that, and hoped I could do 1lb/week.

I am 5'3 and weigh 98 lbs and when it was set to loss before a beach vacation mine wasn't that low even at two pounds a week which is how I ended up losing a bit too much weight when I started running a lot. It was set to 1450 or something. I eat between 1600-1900 on days I log and I'm still losing very slowly 0.5 lbs or so every week-end and a half and figuring out my maintenance area and then slowly start to gain a bit back. So yeah being about your height I see why you feel so badly eating that little. Try slowing it down and seeing if you feel better.

1300 is really low and since you only have 24 pounds to loose you should really reconsider your weight loss goal. .5-1 pound a week is really as fast as you should be loosing.

Anyway some days you do just get plain ol hungry. I have found that you can eat an awful lot of pickles and not really get much in the way of calories. I keep them on hand at all times for just that reason. Plus they are refreshing on a hot day and the salty/crunchy thing is almost as good as eating a bag of chips.

Thanks everyone! I talked to a couple other people as well on here, and everyone said a much more manageable goal is to up my daily calories and work on just increasing my exercise. Probably a lot healthier too. :)
