No--this is great! This means that your aerobic conditioning can handle it. Congratulations! Now just be careful because once you get to a point where you feel like you can keep going, sometimes you will. And you know what isn't up to the task yet? Your tendons, bones, ligaments, and joints. They need time to adapt to your…

Depends on the circumstance. If you are running your heart out and they just barely get ahead at the end I would take it as an insult. If they are sarcastic-->insult. If they are running the 5K, and my son is running the 10K and they pass him at the end but say great job to him as they pass->not an insult (this happened).

It sounds like you are angry because her weight loss was easier than yours. I don't know what to say about the sister rivalry, but one poster did note that many people who lose weight after surgery go back to their old habits and regain the weight. I have heard that this is true. Just wait, in a year you will be down more…

Nonsmoker here. Started running over a year ago and couldn't go a hundred yards without chest burning out of breath feeling like I was going to die. Normal... That said, smoking will make it even harder.

Where are your stretch marks and how did you get rid of them? Mine won't go away

<----Treadmill totally overestimates calorie burn, unless you enter your weight at the end of the run like I did!

Um, unless you personally know the human in question it isn't worth getting your dander up. Many handicaps are not obvious or visible. If you know the person and they are obviously not struggling with mobility or out of breath and hop skip and jump into the store from the handicapped spot, well then, feel free to neuter or…

I burn more calories per minute running but you will burn more calories and be more likely to continue exercising if you find something you enjoy. If running for 30 minutes sucks, but you love biking and can do it longer and more frequently then cycling is the way to go. Of course you can always mix it up! Don't let other…

I signed up. Now I am wondering what I got myself into :frown:

<8.06 miles and 3 calories burned according to the treadmill. I waited until the cool down to enter my weight in pounds, you think that may have something to do with the error in measurement?
-
Not really, they act like eggs but don't taste like them. Give them a try if you like, but there is nothing wrong with the real thing.

Could be time to replace your shoes, bursitis, plantar fasciatis (?spelling?), stress fracture in your foot. Try resting. How many miles on your shoes? I wouldn't run if running causes the pain to get worse.

The heat in Florida derailed my May goals. June will be even hotter with more thunderstorms. 90 miles.
-
Either get my behind up early in the morning to run consistently or get to the Y in the A/C. My May goals fizzled due to the heat. Run 4 times per week. Minimum one long run per week of at least 8 miles. Stretch and Strength train 1 time per week. Remain uninjured. Going on Disney Dream on June 19: run the 5K on Castaway…

Size matters--the lighter you are the harder it is to burn lots of calories. The perks of losing all the fat :grumble:

Great NSV. Congrats!

I am in the same boat--I am pretty slow, typical daily run around 10:30 - 11:00 per mile range. I have noticed that as my weekly mileage increased my speed has increased (unless it is hot, and Summer is Here in Florida). More Miles is what I keep hearing, and More Miles is what I will be doing. You must be in some pretty…

Yep. Hashimotos and hypothyroid. (and more but this is enough for here) Don't use the diagnoses as an excuse, you can lose weight.

I have a polar heart rate monitor and when the heart rate is not picked up it means that I need to wash the strap. The strap is rinsed and air dried after each use and usually work well regardless of activity.

You haven't ruled out health issues. Anemia, thyroid, and chronic health issues can do this. Go ahead and slow down for your runs but get checked out by a doctor to ensure you are healthy.

Re:the Dave runner vs. the Carson runner. The two have completely different sizes, and am wondering if the reason Carson excels at long distances is that he has 50-60 lbs less to carry the distance. Dave is just bigger!

??? WTH?

I use a tuneband and like it. The recent versions have a small and medium armband size that are shipped with it: fits most people. It is comfortable and doesn't chafe. It is NOT waterproof so not good in the rain. Some sweat can get in if you connect the phone to the band before putting it around your arm, but if you put…

TJ MAX, Marshalls and Ross for tops/shorts/running gear except shoes: Running store for fittings, then wherever online I can find last year's style on sale. Tried the bras at above stores, but not supportive enough. Paid full price for Panache/UnderArmour and well worth the price. Some of the t-shirts I got from my races…

Are you able to swim or cycle? Those activities can help maintain your aerobic capacity while your knee heals, which is hopefully soon!

My kids are MOSTLY past the temper tantrum stage (10 and 13), but getting mad and yelling at them never worked, as much as it made me feel better it seemed to just escalate things. Give the kids choices--I typically answer the "can I have" question with a yes---and a condition. Right now my daughter wants an iphone--"yes…

You can see a doctor to see how bad the injury is--? stress fracture. Sprain? Strain? They can give you advice on how long you will be in pain and what you can do about it.
-
Planner--I like to have a t-shirt that fits, plus I like to save $$. I have on my calendar the last days to sign up for races before the price increases. I have been burned once, when I signed up me and my son for a race and he was ill. If that happens more often I may change my tune!

Over a week and they are still not up? WTH? :grumble: :grumble:
