  • re:http://www.championusa.com/workout-clothes/sports-bras-43553--1/maximum-support-bras/champion-double-dry-spot-comfort-full-support-sports-bra The smallest size online is 34C. Do they have any band sizes in stores that are smaller ? I am wearing a 32 band and think I am going to need a 30. I liked my Panache until it got…
  • I have a tuneband -- wraps on my arm. The default velcro strap became too big and they sent me the small--no charge. I also have a spibelt, but it doesn't have much room. I would try it out before purchasing if you have a large phone. My iphone 5 barely fits. I use my phone for tracking miles and speed as I don't have a…
  • sounds like good advice :) Thanks!
  • Posting here too (was in Feb challenge): Need advice on increasing miles. Signed up for 50 miles in Feb and got in over 60 so far (still plan on a run today of between 3& 5 miles). Would like to increase goal for March--would 10% over what I do this month be about right? I think my biggest issue is when I have a rest day…

  • Good for you! I am not as ambitious--doing a 5 miler at the end of April, a 10 miler in October, and considering a 1/2 marathon in November. Sounds like you can meet the time deadline, especially if you walk/run. You will do great!
  • I haven't been running long enough to get these remarks. Or maybe I just don't hear them because of my earphones... Of course I tend to be oblivious to things I don't want to hear :ohwell:
  • Caffeine has mild bronchodilator effects but I wouldn't rely on it. The doses you would have to take would likely make you jittery.
  • I don't work for insurance companies--but assumed that they would take into account studies that related lipid levels and mortality. If it is only one measurement...hmm wondering what the actuaries do... Here is one addressing lipid levels (including triglycerides) and mortality:…
  • Great job! And now that you can run 3, you can run 4, then 5, then the next thing you know you will be running a 1/2 marathon. Congrats!
  • Those are good numbers. Insurance companies will translate those numbers into risk. While numbers may be normal, a Cholesterol of 168 is not looked at as favorably as one of 125. Risk is higher for the 168, and even higher for 199 (once considered normal), and even higher for 225. Same with triglycerides. Lower numbers…
  • Your triglycerides could have been a bit lower easily if you had lowered fat intake prior to the blood draw. Example: labs drawn when on strict diet low fat (plus cholesterol lowering meds) for about a month: Total chol: 100 HDL: 39 Triglicerides: 84 LDL: 44 Labs drawn 6 months later with same meds, but eating as usual for…
  • "Fine" is a relative term. What were your numbers?
  • High fat intake prior to blood draws can be seen in triglycerides levels. Just keep that in mind.
  • Sounds like you are having a hard time adjusting. So sorry. Try to find people in your locale with the same interests and socialize, volunteer, join a gym, reading club, running club whatever interests you. As much as I am on this computer I know it isn't good for me-I don't let my "computer friends" be my support as…
  • Tell your doctor!!! There are other options besides beta blockers for migraines.
  • My weight varies more than 5 lbs during the day. This morning I weighed in at 123.6. Yesterday I was 129.2 mid day. It happens.
  • No, having ketones shouldn't be a problem. They may ding you if your cholesterol and triglycerides are up, so I would try a low fat diet for a week or so before the physical. Not sure if you are doing high fat or low fat. I would keep up the low carb, and increase protein if you are doing high fat. For god sakes don't eat…
  • The protein shake can add fat to your body if you are in a calorie surplus due to the shake.
  • Not for everybody, but lots of caffeine can mimic the same symptoms (jittery, high heart rate).
  • Don't use low thyroid as an excuse. I have it due to Hashimotos and I have lost weight. Get support yes, but use low thyroid as an excuse---don't. You will just sabotage yourself.
  • When I don't care if I balloon up again and fit in my big clothes. In other words: I hope never!
  • I have always worn size 8.5, but in running shoes I fit between a 9 and 9.5 (generally a european 40.5). Get fitted. If it doesn't feel right return them (check their return policy). I am nowhere near touching the top or tip of my shoe with my big toe. Sounds like you got the wrong size.
  • Congratulations and great job!
  • I initially chose 140,which is where I was in my low 20's. When I got there, I still saw lots of areas to improve, because under the fat wasn't muscle. I dropped my goal to 130. Same. Dropped it to 125. Stayed there for a while ( I am also 5'4"). I still don't see myself as thin. I am dead center of the BMI normal numbers.…
  • Congratulations! I too hate running when humid, but I live in Florida so most of the time it is humid.
  • Crap, so when I run a 10 mile, do I have to think about giving up my caffeine again? What a miserable week that was.
  • This: You need more fruits and veggies. Skip the processed foods and restauraunt foods, and don't drink your calories. Pick one thing at a time to work on for a day or two then work on the next step.
  • It is doable. Make sure that you talk to your doctor. My son has asthma and he ran a 10K with me last week, with more races to come. He is on a daily steroid inhaler, and for runs he takes albuterol 2 puffs before and then 2 puffs (albuterol) as needed during the runs. Unless your asthma is hard to control for some reason…
  • I suggest joining the long distance runners group. This topic has been covered several times there.
