I run because I hate running. I know, that sounds weird. I HATE running, but I LOVE a challenge. I believe it's the hard things that we don't think we can do that help us grow THE MOST.

if you decide to take a break here's what I'd suggest - Use this time to think about WHY you're doing this. We all love someone, and the HEALTHIER we are, the LONGER we get to live and love them (baring any tragedy). So those kids and husband? In the long run, you're taking care of yourself so you can live and love them…

Great advice on the stretching! However, the lactic acid causing soreness theory has been debunked. There appears to be no association between the Lactic Acid levels and soreness in muscles. "Contrary to popular opinion, lactate or, as it is often called, lactic acid buildup is not responsible for the muscle soreness felt…

Hard to say. I feel like, if I didn't sweat through my shirt, I didn't get a good work out. Sometimes I'm REALLY sore, sometimes I'm not, but I usually feel it in muscles when I really push it the same day.

I get the SAME THING. In my case, no one believes I'm just over 200lbs. I guess I "wear it well"? Whatever that means! I'm very athletic and I do my damnest not to let a number on a scale hold me back from living and doing what I want in life!

Try Sun Tea this summer! Just put a few tea bags in a large container w/ a lid. Fill with water. Put in a window sill or on the porch and let the sun brew your tea for you! Perfect in the hot weather the US has been seeing.

Consider cutting out all drinks other than water and unsweetened teas.

Scales are pretty inexpensive now a days! Remember - the surface you set it on makes a difference too! If you're weighing in on carpet, it's probably off. Use the same place - a hard surface, every day.

No one I've ever been with has cared that I have stretch mark scars. Maybe I've just been lucky, but they care more about who I am than a handful of scars. ;)

Hi there! I noticed your age. Because you're a teenager, extra sleep is probably a good thing. ;) I function best on 10 hrs.

I usually prefer to work out alone. It's "my time". I get to be alone w/ my own thoughts, etc. But I do like to check in with others about what they are doing! I like going for walks or hikes both alone and with friends.

Welcome a board! I really like using MFP instead of WW. I am NOT a math person, so I hate carrying around a calculator and trying to figure out how many points everything is worth - so calories make more sense to me. They are printed on most labels clearly, and it's a lifestyle change I can stick to! Many of the concepts…

Well, what I've learned is that just about any program will work if you stick with it. So you'd be joining weight watchers because paying for something makes you more likely to log, make good choices, etc? It sounds like you may be suffering from some discouragement and lack of motivation maybe? (Hey - we all get there…

I think I just loose belly fat first. I've been doing the elliptical every day (level 7, random setting, keeping it at 5mph or above, 18 minutes forward, 2 minute cool down backwards). I interchanged that with walking or running at least 30 minutes/day too. Just sneaking in a work out wherever I can fit it in. I figure I…

Try some ice cold water. It wakes your body up because it has to warm it up. I also find that Crystal Light Focus actually helps wake me up too, but you might want to check the ingredient list to see if there is any caffine in it. I agree with others that a short walk outside might be just the thing to wake you up and get…

Why not add more veggies to your evening meals? That will leave you some calories to enjoy a snack after dinner (like fruit)? Another couple thoughts: When I drink alcohol, it's harder to resist evening eating, but drinking something else with dinner other than wine helps (and saves calories). Sometimes grabbing a cup of…

There's a lovely easy trail by the water in Manchester State Park in Washington! For a more manicured walk, check out Point Defiance Park near Tacoma as well! They have a lovely asian garden!

Drink LOTS of water and STAY AWAY from CARBS! I found my stomach was more upset if I did the carb thing while on the meds. Keeping carbs to a min helped!

I eat the Kashi cereal every once in a while. The healthiest one is the Kashi Go lean. The others, while some are great, are just about as sugary as similar, cheaper products out there. I stay away from Nature's Valley products. I've found them to be loaded with sugar.

I've used Dr. Natura's 2 week colon cleanse. It was pretty intense, but after a couple of days, I felt increased energy. My Sailor used Hydrocolonics. He dropped about 5lbs, but eventually it builds up. From a medical stand point, that part of your body wasn't made to be completely clean. Much of the bacteria in our bodies…

No Pudge Brownies can be made Single Serving in the microwave. They are delicious!

That's me alright! I've already completed 2 Triathlons w/o coming in last, dodged stage 1 ovarian cancer, and I'm looking forward to completing the Everest Expedition in Disneyworld OR the Disneyworld Marathon in 2012.

I'm hoping the key there is "new husband". He may be thinking he's helping and talking "at" her life he'd talk w/ a buddy of his. Hopefully they'll discuss it privately and learn how to improve their communication. My Sailor sometimes talks to me like I'm one of this sailor buddies, but as soon as I point it out and let…

Got a Wii? I LOVE Just Dance 2!

My guess would be that it's to help build confidence more than anything, and make things interesting. It could be a VERY MINOR oblique work out, but overall the program looks like it's supposed to help boost confidence in doing controlled movements. It's in the control of movement where you can build muscle (look at yoga).

The link didn't come through. Post it again?

Very cool! For me, I discovered the key to kicking them was understanding myself better. I logged when I had cravings (date, time), where I was when I had it (at home, at work, in the car, etc), what I was craving (sweets, salts, chocolate, etc), and what the situation was (work stress, visiting a friend, etc) that helped…

Awesome! Remember - you usually lose MORE in the first week than you will on the regular basis. But keep it up!

This is a tough one, but here is my advice: DO NOT LET THE NUMBER ON THE SCALE DICTATE YOUR WORTH! You are WORTH taking care of (by eating healthy and working out). You are WORTH it! Celebrate your victories, but maybe don't focus on your weight victories? For example, I celebrate a really hard day working out by giving…
