I am in my second week of Insanity and I am seeing some awesome results. I know the wife is happy. If you do not have a HRM and really dont have the money for one, how else could you calculate the calories burned.

Your workouts may need to involve high impact exercises. This means you are going to want to do things that get your heart rate up, and stay up. As for food, its not all about how many calories you ea, its what you eat. just my two cents.
