30 years of evidence shows that, in general, Multivitamins are unnecessary and do nothing to improve health. http://hub.jhu.edu/2013/12/17/vitamins-might-be-harmful In certain populations vitamins are helpful, but overwhelmingly for healthy people consuming a standard American diet, they do nothing.

Google "Starting Strength". It's an excellent starter program that is easy to follow.

I also think it is probably unlikely that you are burning 200 calories in 12 minutes. In general, non-athletes can maintain 10-12 calorie per minute burns for short bursts of 10-15 minutes. If you are going in an "all out" effort, perhaps you are burning as many as 120-144 calories in that 12 minutes.

I suggest the Flex. I've had both a fuel band and a fitbit, and the fitbit is a superior experience.

As a food weighing crazy person myself, I can tell you that most chicken breasts I weigh are between 6 ounces and 8 ounces.

The portion guideline I go by is 49 shelled pistachios. This is about 1/3 of a cup and about 160 calories.

I'd say I didn't really feel slimmer until about 30-40 pounds lost. However, my pants were loose and I bought as size smaller after about 20 pounds. I didn't have a "whoa!" moment in the mirror until I had dropped about 50. I take a photo of myself every month in the same position, in the same place, at the same angle at…

I weigh myself daily using a scale that sends my weight and body fat percentage to an online service via wifi. The benefit of this is that it can show a trendline of my weight, and it also smooths out the bodyfat readings which can be erratic.

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I first started at the gym 8 months ago I felt terrible and moving my body at all felt bad and weird--and I couldn't do the things I wanted to do. Then, about 3 months in, I noticed things were much easier. Today, with 75 pounds less of me in the way, I can do a lot more. I'm…

You look amazing! What an accomplishment!

It estimates your BMR based on height and weight, but it adds calories burned based on activity, which it estimates for each step. Before I purchased mine, I asked two friends who have both devices. (I work with a group of people who are very interested in technology...) Both of them agreed that there was very little…

For someone your size, 30 minutes of moderate circuit training would burn between 275 to 375 calories.

I'd suggest hitting your first goal of 160. Once you lose that amount of weight you are going to feel fantastic and have a lot more energy. At that point re-evaluate based on how comfortable you are with how you look and how you feel. At that point you may want to forget the scale altogether and focus on your body fat…

Then that calorie number is accurate. Good for you! a max incline is very hard!

I'd say that so long as you do not feel worn down by the low calorie diet you are on, and have enough energy to do your workouts and other activities throughout the day, stick with the calories given, and do not eat back the exercise calories. If you are feeling hungry, a great time for a snack is after your workouts. For…

Your calorie tracking looks spot on to me, except perhaps for the treadmill walking. 740 for an hour walk is on the high side. Perhaps you are using an extremely high incline, or you walk very fast. In general, an hour on a treadmill walking at 3.5-4 mph would burn about 400-500 calories.

I agree! I love my fitbit and it really motivates.

Cardio has so many benefits *other* than weight loss, it's simply a mandatory activity if you want to be fit and healthy. However, in terms of weight loss, cardio can support fat loss, but is not really effective on its own. In general, an average person doing a cardio activity like running, elliptical or biking burns an…
