Start as you mean to go on. The best way to start is start trying to find healthy recipes you love and build up a collection of healthy meals from there.

Try eating skinless grilled chicken breast. Were you eating half chickens etc before?

This. I'm actually hitting goals much better since I've become a bit more relaxed about my eating. I can't explain why. I still stick to my calorie goals (and macros), but quite roughly, and eat healthily MOST of the time (4 out of every 5 meals) but I have pizza, chippy food, indian takeaway etc several times a week and…

OP, don't pay too much attention to this. Track your calories. Calories in vs calories out, as always, comes first for weight loss. Then make sure you're getting the macros you have set out for yourself. You can add stuff to your oatmeal to affect the macro balance (a scoop or chocolate whey & tablespoon peanut butter, as…

No, I'd rather skip breakfast and just have a black coffee as I always eat about 8-9pm and it helps me stick to my calorie goals.

Good for you!

Fantastic, although you suit having a bit more weight on you too. Win/win!

The whole formula is a guideline. Pick a number between 3500 and 4700 and stick to that for a month or two, recording your weight fluctuation. Then adjust by +-250 accordingly.

Project? I'm trying to find middle ground, I'm not sure how you couldn't see that. Anyway I'm done with this thread. Good luck OP.

At the moment I'm eating ~33/33/33 and it's working great. I'd recommend starting there and adjusting it over time to see what suits you best.

Would it help if we just substituted the word 'discomfort' in for pain. We can all agree that hunger is a negative feeling on the whole and then address how to deal with it?
-
I know what pain is, and hunger CAN be painful. Not a mild appetite, but when I get very hungry, it is painful. You can create a strawman argument about kneecappings but that doesn't really serve much of a purpose. We have a word for cramp and a word for pain. Are cramps not painful? It doesn't hold up i'm afraid. Again if…

His response is equivalent to sticking his fingers in his ears and repeating "neh neh neh can't hear you". If he disagrees, then that's fine, but instead of articulating his point he resorts to schoolyard tactics. I find it childish, more-so than my own reactions. You may disagree. I'm not really concerned to be honest.…

That he loves being outdoors and active

No, if you never get hunger pains when you're eating a deficit, you can't advise the OP on how to embrace or deal with these pains. Simple. I don't need advice from you, thanks. I know my body very well at this stage, and can plan my weight loss and gain quite effectively. That is not the issue here. Some people get hunger…

Yea it works for me, hence me offering it as advice to the OP, rather than telling her shes not actually experiencing pain. No, i'm not missing the point, just because I disagree with you. Hunger is pain, in varying degrees. We experience pain and discomfort to make us go eat. It wouldn't work if it was a nice feeling. It…

I just use a blend active, which I got for 19.99 and fits my current uses perfectly, mainly making protein shakes and all sorts of protein pancake recipes etc. But a couple of my friends have the nutribullet and highly recommend it.
-
"UUmmm yes". Some people get quite strong hunger pains on a 250kcal/day deficit. I know because I do. I eat healthy, quality foods, high protein and fat, but I still get them. Some people do. Some people are different than you. So by your own admission, you are not qualified to advise on how to deal with these pains. I…

You only 'have' to eat more if you want to put on weight and you're not putting on weight. You do have to eat a calorie surplus to build muscle. Add a small shake with some oats, whey and peanut butter at some point during the day. Even a half scoop of O&W with a tablespoon of PB could add 250+kcals (depending on what…

I switched to black coffee and after a few cups i love it! It's an adjustment but stick with it! I got myself some good quality ground coffee and a cafetiere and haven't looked back. I save a big sweet latte for a treat now and again.

- Define clear goals (if you can't measure it, you can't improve it) - Look to friends (online or in RL) for competition, inspiration, motivation - Be patient, go easy on yourself and enjoy the journey. It won't happen overnight, and you will slip up at times, just like everyone else. - Most importantly, do something you…

You might not burn as many calories as cardio during, but your muscles will burn more calories up to 72 hours after the exercise as they repair/recover. EDIT: Ah, you got there first Jade

Either figure out why you are snacking now when you weren't before and attempt to 'correct' your behaviour, or build it into your meal plans
-
Although it is odd behaviour, I certainly wouldn't be worried (Unless his behaviour is aggressive). He's just performing his exercise routine (rightly or wrongly).

We all have to start somewhere. One of the best things about being a beginner is you will notice a vast improvement over the first few weeks IMO. Stick at it, and set yourself a slightly higher target each time you exercise.
