I'm on year 3 of maintaining in a good range after losing about 35 lbs. I stopped logging for the most part, but still come back to it when I feel my weight drifting too far northward. I've learned some lessons that work for me: a) I don't limit my choices, if there's something I want, I eat it but in very limited…

I work out with trainer 3x a week for 45 min a session, for last year and a half. We do some weight lifting, planks/lunges/push-up type stuff and a small amount of cardio. Trainer says burn is maybe 200-250 calories but its yielded great results. I am about to cut this to 2x a week and try to supplement with treadmill…

You go Blinks! Good for you and hope you enjoy the vacation!

** this! (Hey Mel!) I figured out (much to my surprise) that the difference for me between losing and maintaining is only about 200-250 calories... Thats an extra yogurt, some more catsup, maybe an extra apple-- I can add in a few small extras a day but not just give up tracking or control. Thru this journey, I've learned…

Hi, I'm almost 51 and I joined MFP in March 2012. I started committed to lose that creeping pudge that accumulated over 25 years. I exceeded my goal and lost 38 lbs, and now have been maintaining for about 4 months. Did it by using a ton of willpower, measuring foods and portion control, and drinking a ton of water. I also…

Sarah, thnk you so much. That's great! Yes I wondered always about that impedance scale. I have a college age daughter who runs big college track and she's in GREAT shape, and she had her BF tested last year at school with one of those bod pod things, and hers was 13%. She came home about 4months later and that scale was…

So here it goes :-) Can you please give me an estimate of body fat? I'm 50 years old, just shy of 5'6" and weigh about 114-115 lbs-- have been maintaining for about 3 months. Lost about 39 lbs. I had a csection 21 years ago. Sorry about the underwear shots but I don't own a bikini. Scale reports avg body fat aroud 22-23%.…

I'm 50, and just about 5'6". SW was 153lbs in March 2012 and I am now at 114-115lbs and maintaining for the last few months. That took me 10 months. I lost steadily about .5-.75lb a week at 1450 calories NET (I did TDEE - 20%, no eating back of exercize calories). During this time until now, I work out 3x a week with a…

Yeah, but if you're trying to lose and at moderate deficit, say a woman at 250 calories under TDEE, and you have regular cheat days and eat out plus dessert, one meal can easily counterbalance many days of deficit. Maybe a half weeks worth of work or more. At the end it's all what goes in and out over a long period. One…

^^^ This! First of all, huge props to your incredible accomplishment! I too ended up about 10 lbs below my original, never thought I'd get to, goal point. I am happy with the result, but realize I am struggling with a body image issue. As you see yourself very slowly change, it's hard to know it's enough and I was telling…

I'm 50 years old, about 5'6", and about currently 114-116 lbs. I reached my goal weight in January, then took myself off some medications (Birth control, and off my blood pressure meds too, yay!) and very quickly lost even more. So, I'm about 5 lbs less than my goal now for the last two-three months. On one hand, I enjoy…

^^^this. I'm 50, post menopausal and 5'6" I started one year ago at 153ish, and have been maintaining for the last month or so at 115ish. I work out 3x per week (my only exercise) and lost the weight pretty linearly :-) at a rate of about .5 to .75 lbs a week. It took nearly a year of hard work. My tummy is flat, finally,…

Well, there's always next time-- get busy now!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I woke up today to see if there was an update *ha*ha* toe tapping... you have us riveted!

Anyone who struggles with the process of portioning, counting and the time it takes should look at posts like this and spend some time reading "success stories". Its just so motivating whether you're trying to lose, maintain or just get stronger. It is truly amazing what can be done in a year! Wow, you look GREAT!

I'm almost 5'6" SW 153 lb (March 2012) Maintaining at around 120 lb

^^^ this I'm just starting maintenance and I weigh every day. So long as the longer term trend was in the right direction, I tried not to freak over a 1-2 lb gain. Water retention happens. If that's the cause, it'll resolve itself. As you get to or close to maintenance, we need to come to grips with the fact that that…

Steel cut oats (usually make a batch and work on it for a week) then I add a half or full cup of FAGE plain greek yogurt..microwave till warm, add almond milk for consisteny as needed and maybe a Truvia if I want a little sweetness. Cinnamon. Yum.

SW: 153 GW: 125 CW: 122 (easing into maintenance and still losing a little) 5'5.5" and 50 YO

50 :-) and just started running intervals on the treadmill. If I can do that anyone can! Honestly I think I'm in the best shape of my life (that I can remember.. haha). Go for it.

OH, and I meant to add that I am a relatively new Fitbit owner. Still figuring that out but surprised (?) to confirm that I find I'm only burning about 1500-1600 calories on a normal a day. I do 3x a week with a personal trainer (45 min mostly resistance and weights) and it doesn't track those sessions well, but otherwise…

Yes I'd agree- eat slightly more. Keep exercising in moderation and choose an easier, but maybe longer, path to a long term goal. I didn't have much (~25-30 lbs, I'm 5'5.5) to lose and the first 20 came off rather straightforwardly. The last 5-10 pounds have taken forever.. took equally as long. As I got closer to my…

YES. Skinnylicious Hamburgers are excellent and come with a small salad. Also had pear/goat cheese flatbread which was very tasty. Everything I've had so far was really good.

I just had a"snack" of Nestle Nesquik 100 calorie low fat chocolate milk. 8g protein and 30% of calcium requirements for the day. It was very yummy and took away my mid morning hunger pang.

I'm 5'5.5" and 50 years old and medium framed. I started MFP in March '12 at around 153lbs with a goal to get to 140lbs or so. That turned out to be fairly easy so I've reassessed several times and met my "ultimate" goal of 125 lbs in early September. I go to a personal trainer 3x a week and do mostly resistance training…

When I'm really hungry at night, I usually try to drink water and wait a while to see if it will go away first. If not, my go-to anytime of day snack is a big bottle of cold water and a Greek yogurt. I like plain but even the fruit varieties are packed with protien and <150-200 calories. I down that (love yogurt so its…

Raw, cold, sugar snap peas. They're very sweet, crunchy and good for you. Like little crunchy veggie candy sticks. About 50 calories a CUP and they are very filling.
-
Started out at 1200 calories and after about a month of starving and feeling awful, upped it to close to 1400/day-- which felt much better! Shared a personal trainer 3x a week, mostly resistance training and moderate weights, and have gone religiously. I now have a flat belly, smaller hips and a hint of abs! Lost about 28…

well, me too. At least there's no worry about droop!
