  • I haven't done Yoga to the People, but I do a lot of yoga at Core Power Yoga. Even in the "Yoga Sculpt" classes (which resembles a body pump or similar cardio class much more so than yoga), I don't get close to 980. I wonder who came up with that number? 480 for Power Vinyasa is a little higher than what I average, but…
  • If you want to actually preserve the color on your clothes, do an online search for how to do it. I looked it up last year (but ended up not doing it), and it was something like spraying the shirt with vinegar? They didn't give out sunglasses at the one I did, but I bought some plastic white-framed ones at Target ahead of…
  • I'm actually pretty speechless! Saying "Congrats" or "Great job" just doesn't do it justice. You're a great writer, I love how you tell your story. This might be my favorite MFP post ever. You and your wife look like you're able to have even MORE fun now. So glad you are celebrating life.
  • Bump. I love these types of workouts. I did one for the Olympics last summer too.
  • I was sidelined for a couple days with an inner ear infection, but am back and ready to catch up to the group. Hopefully I can find you - doesn't seem like there are many of you left!
  • Bump. I'll do it later in the week.
  • I try to go for a walk over lunch pretty often. I either go to a local park or a community center nearby. I keep headphones, spare shoes, socks and roll-in deodorant (it won't melt in the summer) in my car. I also have some extra layers in case I venture out in the winter, and a bag with yoga pants, a sports bra and a…
  • Bump. I love that you spliced them all together. I've used the Youtube Zumba videos too, but have just opened all of them in separate tabs to do one after the other.
  • Thanks for sharing this. I think I've followed every MFP thread about fitness clothing, and have never seen this pop up. I've scored some Lucy stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshall's too. I have some stuff from Old Navy that I like, and have found some great tops on clearance at Kohl's. They are holding up well so far. If you're…
  • Yep, I'm in the Twin Cities too and I definitely felt the aches today. I have bad knees and they were the sorest part of me today. Sometimes I'll put a light knee brace on when it's really cold, not because of pain but just to help keep them warm. I also have some neck pain near a degenerative disc when it's this cold (and…
  • Good thing we have a lot of females in our group. We understood what you were going through, so we were able to stand lookout and protect you. ☺
  • I walked 1.8 miles over lunchtime yesterday and added 1 mile today. Today I was outside - it's below freezing, which is tough conditions for zombies so I think we are pulling away from them!
  • Awesome job, both of you! You are good zombie adventure teammates. ☺ I'm not in a treadmill mood, so I'm debating if I should head outside in really cold weather (2 degrees Fahrenheit right now) or to be a "mall-walker" somewhere.
  • I'm sore from the axe-swinging! (Using weights in a "Yoga Sculpt" class last night.) I guess I'll be in shape in case I have to do any more axe-swinging in the future. By the way, I would NOT be good at standing guard in the middle of the night - I fall asleep way too easily. Next time I'm in charge of standing guard in…
  • Yesterday - in addition to a walk - I did some Wii Zumba. I'm not entirely sure what that does to help fend off Zombies. ... maybe I can do a little shimmy for the zombies as a distraction while you all run into town to get food or something! : )

  • Thanks! I like the idea that maybe we were another group of survivors that your group met up with.
  • What a wonderful thread! 1. It's sunny today 2. I went for a little walk over lunch today 3. I have dinner ready in the slow cooker for when I get home 4. I made a dentist appointment 5. I paid some bills (something I always dread)
  • I'm a late add-on, but I think I've caught up to the group in boarding up my house, gathering supplies and fleeing some zombies. I did upper body last week at a couple Sculpt classes, and did more than 2 miles. Looks like a fun group!

  • Kohls has had a lot of workout clothes on their clearance racks lately. I just got two patterned yoga tops (or running tops, or whatever) for $6 each. They move and wick as well as Lucy or Lulu, IMO. I saw a couple pairs of shorts for less than $3, but they didn't have my size. I've also found a lot at Old Navy…
  • I think I would do it as circuit training and then would make little notes for myself on the bottom of the exercise page about what I did specifically (or if there's something specific you want to keep track of). You could also take a look at the calisthenics option, and compare the calories burned on the two.
  • I actually like it better than Just Dance (I have two of those). Just Dance is cool because the songs are familiar, but I like not having to hold the control for Zumba (it comes with a belt, and the controller goes in a pocket on the belt), so it records your hip movements instead of just the right arm movements.
  • It's definitely a great workout if you get into it, about equal to elliptical or running in my mind. But you can't just stand there watching, or giving up if you don't get the moves right away (goes without saying, but I'm preemptively defending myself from people who disagree). There are three different speed songs, so…
  • Thanks so much for sharing your very honest story. I'm sure that many people will find inspiration in it. You look AWESOME, by the way - healthy and active. A huge congratulations to you.
  • Snowshoeing is my #1 also, although - like Heather - I was bummed when there was no opportunity for snowshoeing last year. I think REI probably rents showshoes too (and cross country skis!), although they probably charge more than the state parks. I'm not fond of going out once the temp drops into the teens, but if it's…
  • Just spotted this and think it's awesome that you're all doing this! I haven't read The Hobbit since middle school, but this makes me want to pick it up again, just so I can understand the challenge and destinations. Does anyone know if there are maps like this for any other pieces of literature? Keep up the walking!
  • I can't keep up with the planks for John King using his touch screen! I've added 10 jumping jacks for the word "battleground."
  • You can see a demo here, although he jumps a bit more than I recall from elementary school phy ed class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Dq_NCzj8M
  • Darnit, I'm noticing MORE symptoms. I assumed it was due to age (who knew that symptoms could get worse through your 30's?? I just learned that). I've had cramping, headaches and crabbiness/moodiness since losing 20 pounds. Annoying. I like your situation better!
  • You look terrific! Happy Halloween.
