Can you estimate how much of the whole loaf you are eating, and calculate calories that way? e.g. 32 ounce /loaf * 1/8 loaf = 4 ounces

I've stuck with losing weight for a year without cheating and no longer crave unhealthy foods. I have lost 90 pounds and am continuing to lose steadily. Your guarantee is meaningless.

Beautifully said.

I agree. Cheat days are going back to the same bad habit that got us here in the first place, and seem to be used most by people who consider this a diet instead of figuring out how to change their lives and get healthier. Giving yourself food rewards keeps you in the wrong mentality... And the name... Who are you…

Who are you cheating?

Of COURSE, this happened to a friend, and a friend-of-a-friend. I wasn't participating! Some people were smoking weed and decided to make a trip to the college coffee shop to get something to eat. They discovered that the shop had some special chocolate cake. They decided to purchase one piece to share, brought it…

OK, I've gotta ask. Why would you have to blend rocks?
-
I use one of these too, it is amazingly strong. I bought it for about $20, it was the highest rated by America's Test Kitchen. That might be a good resource for a blender that actually works also... if you're not a member, email me and I'll look it up for you.

I made this last night, and it is REALLY good! I swapped in Veri-Teriyaki for the soy sauce, but other than that made it exactly as specified in the recipe. YUMMY! Thanks for posting this!

I've been a WW member for over a year now and have been on MFP for about five or six months. I have a great WW meeting that I attend each week, and get great support there. I kind of alternate between tracking points and tracking calories, depending on how frazzled I am at any given time (a few weeks on calories, a few on…

Your doc can rule out other issues (low iron, not enough protein, sleep apnea, etc.) so that you know what you are dealing with. Any significant change in how you feel physically lasting more than a few weeks is worth considering a visit to the doc.

You can be consoled by the fact that you have control over whether or not you lose weight. He, on the other hand, will always be an *kitten*.

It isn't quite that straightforward. There are many who would claim that juice isn't good for you because it has too much sugar and none of the fiber of whole fruit. Others would argue that drinking milk from another species is unnatural and our bodies aren't built to handle that. The statement above is your opinion and…

Brilliant! Way to go Tarran! Your dreams at 17 sound so much like mine... amazing accomplishments but not much substance. I'm 47 now and have revisited my dreams and goals on a regular basis. If I look where I am compared to where I thought I would be, I'm nowhere near. On the other hand, I have this incredible life and I…

No worries on the protein, MFP has very low settings for that.

Not if it is just by a few calories, like under 5% of my total. I figure that the whole calorie measurement thing isn't completely precise. A serving might be slightly bigger/smaller than the others, ingredients might not be evenly mixed, etc. Add in the additional variable of calories burned during the day (both staying…

Dump him first. You're doing this for you, not for him. If he doesn't understand that now, he never will!

Also depends on whether or not you are "regular". If you're full of poop, that could explain lots of your extra pounds.
-
It depends on what you select from the database. If you select something like "chicken - dark meat roasted" then the calories are for the meat only. One trick is to weight the leg and thigh with the bone in it, then weigh the bone after you are done eating. Subtract the second measurement from the first to get the weight…

Look at this as "2 big plantains" instead of "plantain chips". Your cooking method didn't change the calories for them, they just probably dehydrated a little and have less volume. If you use the raw food instead of the cooked version, you'll get the same result. If you eat 1/4 of the chips at once, then count that as 1/2…

Gotcha. I understand.

I'd rather see extra skin rather than extra skin full of fat... Wouldn't the fear of more be best addressed by working on losing weight and then maintaining the loss so you don't end up with more extra skin? Not sure what you mean by it being your downfall...

I weaned myself off sodas by getting a soda siphon (the gadget that carbonates water) and Torani syrups. I made my own sodas at home, at the regular strength to begin with, then gradually made them weaker and weaker. When I was at the point where I was 1/4 the recommended amount of syrup in a glass (which yields about the…

Add me to the "never had a problem" list. I have a couple stashed in my car as emergency snacks, and eat about 1-2 bars per week. I also have Kellogs Bran Buds cereal with my breakfast each morning. I don't recall ever having a problem with either type of fiber, I only have problems when I don't get ENOUGH fiber!

I was losing my hair, and my doc had me increase my protein to a minimum of 80 grams per day. No more hair loss. MFP protein levels should be considered a minimum for most people.

Hmmmm, how come French press coffee has zero calories, but regular drip and espresso have calories? Do the calories get stuck in the press? We're only talking from 5-15 depending on the quantity, so the difference isn't much but it can add up.

It all depends on how tied in you are to what you see on the scale. I weigh myself nearly every day so I can track my progress and get feedback on how I'm doing. If the scale jumps on a single particular day, it is easy for me to ignore that. If I see a slow upward trend over time, then I know I have to do things…

I've lost almost 100 pounds knowing this about myself. I don't "cheat" (mostly because who would i be cheating? MYSELF!). I do allow myself flexibility in the foods I eat, while staying within my calorie goals and sometimes my choices are not as healthy as they are other times. Sometimes I eat some exercise calories, but…

Which calories are 2230? Is that your Basal Metabolic Rate (the amount of calories you burn when you are just breathing/pumping blood), or is that the calorie goal that MFP set up for you when you went through the initial setup?

If they know you are watching what you eat, a simple "No thank you!" with a bright smile should be enough. If they don't know, then say "No thank you, not today!" In either case, immediately turn around and wish effusive birthday greetings on the lucky person. Be strong, don't express regret that you "cannot" partake, or…
