I'm guessing you're overestimating your exercise cals. Are you taking MFPs word for it? If so, I'd try eating back half what MFP says. With so little to lose, you're walking a pretty fine line. The other option would be to cut out sugar/refined stuff, but you've said you really like those, so I'd try the other way first.…

If it were me, I'd go back to just over 1500 and see what happens. Eating more doesn't work for everyone.

Also just joined - will send you all Friend Requests! Lisa

Amen, Sister! This is why I joined this group. I have a bunch of friends on MFP with lots to lose and they run around posting about eating 2500-3000 cals per day, how do I fit it all in, etc. and it drives me nuts! Not their fault, obviously, as they have 200+ lbs. of body weight on short frames so it's a math thing, but…

Fascinating, Cat! You see tons of people not losing a thing on 2000+ cals per day, even though the calculators, hrm, fitbit, etc say they should. I like the SWAG approach mentioned above too. With so many variables, calculators can only get you so far. Nicely done!

These women are bullies and bullies don't stop when you ignore them. Unfortunately the only way to stop a bully is to stand up to them. Good luck to you! Not sure I'd want to be the only person of color at the gym - do you have other options that might have some more diversity?

Congrats! That is totally the way to do it. Go by how your clothes fit and how you look - that's all that matters anyway. Also, I don't know how much you have to lose, but when you get down under 10 lbs., the water weight fluctuations (especially if you lift and are building muscle) can render your scale weight completely…

As soon as she stops what? You can totally lose weight without exercising (and keep it off, for that matter). In fact, it can be argued that it may be easier to do it without exercise because of the increased appetite that comes with exercise. However, as others have said, there are many other reasons to exercise besides…

Yes, feel free to add me too!

Agree. Try some Greek yogurt and low sugar/high fiber cereal for breakfast. You can eat so much more (bulk, filling) food if you stay away from the processed stuff. Easier said than done, I know, but the other stuff really does make you hungrier, faster. You can do this!

Yes, add me too! We can all use some support! Lisa

I am right there with you! It's frustrating. My only tip would be to not weigh yourself very often. I've quit weighing at all - just going by how my clothes fit. I don't know about you, but my normal fluctuation (not related to actual gain or loss) is 5 lbs., so weighing myself is sort of pointless! The clothes, however,…
Maybe I will just be building muscle under all this fat and then when I stop breastfeeding it will melt away and reveal all the sexy muscle. A girl can dream right?!
Hey, this may be less a dream than you think!

Hmmm, looked at your diary and the only thing I could think of was measurements, especially things like peanut butter. Are you taking a tablespoon out and levelling out two of them when you have that for breakfast? I know I can get into trouble very easily with estimating those high caloric density foods. Any chance that…

This may sound counterintuitive, but your body may be hanging onto weight because you're making breast milk. I know "they say" you lose weight faster if breastfeeding, but it was always the opposite for me. With both kids I couldn't lose anything until I quit BF and had my body back to normal (hormones, calorie needs,…

First, I think your food diary looks GREAT! I also wouldn't give up the strength training. That said, really try to mix it up - the classes at the gym that do weights plus cardio, bands, balls, strengthening using body weight, etc. are fantastic and will keep you from getting bored. I also find that kind of strength…

This. I always chuckle when I see people feeling like 1500-1800 cals is a ton. Once you are approaching your goal weight, this will probably feel like "nothing" again. Best of luck!

My two favorites are the PowerCrunch bars and ProMax Low Sugar. They are both around 200 cals. Lower cal ones tend to really just be smaller. LOL

No, not all the studies. Pick up a copy of Gary Taubes' Why We Get Fat and what to do about it. He cites a boatload of studies showing that it's much more complex than just calories (mostly related to insulin, but other hormones too). Many people have a low tolerance for carbohydrates, especially the processed kind. So the…
