Hey, Ramona. Feel free to add me as well... we have very similar starting weights and goals! I started 230 at 5'7", goal is 160 as well... somehow managed to grow an inch since I started, haha.

Thanks for all of the awesome ideas! I'm excited for lunch this week now. Since I've found a place that sells whole small chickens for so cheap, I think I'll do this more often.

Those sound good! Thanks, y'all! :flowerforyou:

Sounds awesome! Bumping to make later.

I like making vegetarian chili (make it yourself to keep the sodium content low), tuna salad, fruit salad with Greek yogurt, stuffed peppers (once again, you can make it vegetarian or use lean turkey to keep the fat content low) and baked falafel with cucumbers and hummus on top of a spinach salad.

Why does everyone want to lose weight so fast? Everyone seems to want a quick fix, and then go back to their former lifestyle. I've never known anyone that dropped weight fast and kept it off (most of the people I know who "diet" go on fad crash diets... they lose 10 pounds in a few days, then gain it all back). Slow,…

Seconding blood tests. I felt like absolute garbage for a full year until I found out I was celiac, and because of it, my B12, D, and iron levels were extremely low. You may need something as simple as a multivitamin, or there could be an underlying cause. Go get checked out. Since you say you're craving chocolate, I'm…

I have celiac disease and have dreams all the time about downing baguettes, spaghetti, pizza, cookies, etc. I always wake up panicking that I'm going to be extremely ill that day. Damn, I miss baguettes.

Invest in a crockpot. They're relatively cheap and it's super easy to make a ton of different recipes. There are tons of resources across the Internet for crockpot foods. All you really have to do is throw some ingredients in and let it cook for a few hours.

I really enjoy it when someone offers excellent, sound advice and the OP shoots it down and says, "Nah, I'm going to continue to do my stupid thing." But I've never seen someone being viciously attacked for said excellent, sound advice. Good lord. Time to break out the popcorn before the thread lock.

Log it and move on. One bad day isn't going to undo many good days unless you managed to eat 3500 additional calories on top of your weekly maintenance calories.

Last year, there was a guy who finished a local 10k in 29:48 (4:48 pace). And the second place guy did 30:53. Granted the first guy was a professional runner from Kenya, but second place was an average guy from Ohio, so it's definitely achievable. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication and good meal balancing, but it's…

Go sloooow. If you try something stronger, such as liquor, drink very small amounts at first; you have no idea how it will affect you. Try to mix it with juice or soda. Don't drink on an empty stomach. It can make you pretty ill. Stay hydrated. If you get a hangover the next morning, drink a lot of water... hangovers are…

I can't eat gluten without my small intestine imploding and I still have 30 pounds to lose. My husband has hyperthyroidism, tends to fast throughout the day due to his crazy work schedule, loves gluten and all the delicious foods that come with it, and needs to eat a ton of food when dinnertime comes around. I can't cook…

Please dump his *kitten*. And if you can't bring up the courage to do so, find a bunch of empty food boxes, fill them all with spiders, and strategically place them around your kitchen. Invite him over for an all-you-can-eat buffet. Small snakes will work, too. When he pours himself a big bowl of spiders, grab his chin,…

I have a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix; her picture is in my profile picture and ticker. I like taking her on walks, but since she's still a puppy (7 months old), she can't go running until she's fully grown at 1 1/2 years old. If you take a pup that's supposed to grow into a large dog running (besides letting her run…

Dark chocolate, cheese, or wine. Or all three at once.

I read textbooks and other educational sources for fun because I like learning about everything. Science and linguistics books are my favorite. Also, I had the distinct honor of being the top healer in my WoW raid group for 5 years... but I don't play anymore.

Bump to make later. Thanks for the recipe!

Bumping this for ideas. I also love cottage cheese, but I don't know what else to do with it other than eat it with pepper... so yay, useless post!

I love moo goo gai pan and steamed seafood with vegetables. You can always request that they use less oil or, for some dishes, no oil at all when making your food. Most Chinese restaurants I've been to have been extremely accommodating.

I had the same problem today. I got a salad bar to go, so I could have a cheap, healthy meal that I could eat for all threes meals... and I have no idea how to track it. Most of it was lower-calorie items, like salad with a lot of varied vegetables, cottage cheese, and a small amount of sugar-free chocolate pudding... so…

Seconding tea. I make sure to keep a good variety of teas on hand depending on my mood (fruit, green, chai, black, oolong, rooibos). I prefer my tea plain, but if you need something sweet, you can add a squirt of honey to it. It fills your stomach and helps quite a bit with needless hunger.

I just finished it and agree it's an excellent program. There are also apps you can download that helps you track your time and run/walk intervals. I'm working on my speed a bit, then it's on to the 10K trainer!

I've lost, albeit very, very slowly. After I had mine taken out, I developed some nasty GI problems (IBS and celiac disease), which makes it very hard for me to digest vitamins and nutrients from food. Keep in mind if anything like that develops, because if you're malnourished, it may make you want to eat more to make up…

I struggle with dysthymia, GAD, and PTSD, and have just recovered from a severe depressive episode, so I can definitely relate. Depression makes you tired, unmotivated, and wanting to stay in bed all day. During the severe episode, it was extremely hard to keep going. Keep in mind that a better diet and more exercise can…

I love food. Every once in a while I'll have a day where I want to snack constantly, but mostly, I want to save my calories for delicious meals since I love to cook. I'm more of the type to have two and sometimes three big, filling meals a day other than six smaller meals.

As someone with celiac disease, I honestly think eating a gluten-free diet hinders weight loss if you choose to eat gluten-free replacements. For example, the bread I used to eat before my diagnosis was 40 calories a slice. Now, the lowest-calorie gluten-free "bread" I can find is 80 calories a slice. It adds up. Not to…

All right, thanks. The reason I wasn't completely sure was because my doctor said my knee was healed now, but every once in a while I still feel a slight twinge during lower-body exercises, like a guitar string getting tuned too tightly. But since I've started the program again, I've had no pain or "tightening." (My injury…

As someone with celiac disease, I would not recommend going on a gluten-free diet unless you have CD or a gluten/wheat allergy. It greatly limits the food you can eat; going out anywhere is a pain; if you really, really want something that is usually filled with gluten like bread or pizza, the gluten-free option usually…
