  • The closest thing to jumping is the hitch kick...and you don't always do that. And, you can always modify it so you don't jump. That's what I like about the whole thing, is you can bring the intensity down until you get your act together. Shoot, I started going when I was 40lbs overweight. It took a while for me to be able…
  • If you do Body Pump, there's no reason you should be nervous about Combat. It does have more choreography, I think...but it's not as complex as some of the other aerobic classes. Try it!!
  • First, congratulations to YOU... That same type of format has worked well for me, too. I think the best lesson tracking my calories and exercise on this site has had for me is just that: lesson. I have learned so much. I've paid attention to what I eat (I wasn't an over eater, necessarily, just a poor eater). I've started…
  • Tomatoes are great for you. They are the most concentrated food source of lycopene, which some studies show helps prevent heart disease and some forms of cancer. They also have vitamin C, I think. Typically, we grow around 12 plants every year, and my husband will eat tomatoes every day...(I've never heard they turn you…
  • Hmmmm. Did I read this right on your profile? You are looking to lose 7lbs? If so, perhaps rather than "starving" yourself, you should try kicking up your exercise. Just eat healthy (no processed foods), stay under your maintenance calorie intake, and burn a lot of calories. (3500 calories burned=1lb) Try it that way.…
  • Thanks everyone. I appreciate it!
  • Way to go!!! I know sometimes when I get on the treadmill I surprise myself with how long I can go (who knew?). Then there are days when it's all I can do to make sure I do at least a mile. Just stick with it. Good for you!
  • That happens to me now and again. I have two suggestions. Either power through with any of the good suggestions already posted, or, eat something, anything, so long as it's healthy. Your body may be telling you something. People on this board talk about zig zag dieting, and sometimes "zagging" is necessary. Go ahead and…

  • I always go over in my fiber as well, but that's because I make an effort to do so...it keeps things moving, you know? Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water. I've read some suggestions that we should try to as much as 35 grams.

  • Alrighty! Day before Thanksgiving: 143 Today: 141 Yup, that's good... Now, to lose that last 15! Yeah baby!
  • I'm so in: mckval, 11/24/10, 143lbs Maintain, not gain....maintain, not gain... Have a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year everyone!
  • Are those net calories? Because if they aren't you may not be eating enough on your "zag." For instance, when I burn 400 cals on a day, and that's the day I want to spike my calories, I try to have at least 1800+ calories, so that my net calories are still high. I am very sorry you are frustrated...I know this is all so…
  • If, while you are in the community tab, you select home rather than recent posts you'll see forum topics along the left side column. Then if you select a topic you will see all posts. Good luck!
  • oh, yes, that is a problem... I have the Fiber One/Fiberplus bars (one a day--needed for my system). I also enjoy the Trader Joe's Veggie sticks and the Trader Joe's Everything pretzel thins. They each have a crunch and as long as you don't eat the whole bag (!) and portion it out, it is a fairly low cal snack. I also look…
  • It is a problem (or, used to be) for me as well. I've started taking these: Source of Life® Red Lightning™ is the amazing whole food energy supplement that energizes, revitalizes, and delivers red food antioxidant protection against free radical damage! Antioxidant-rich foods are identified by their vibrant colors. Red…
  • Hope you win, he's a cutie!

  • Mine also suggests the 1200. But, that is net calories. So, depending how many calories you burn, that allows you a bit more (good) food intake, I believe. I also do my best to "zig-zag" my diet. That seems to help.
  • Ugh. Same boat here, too: 48 and things just got way out of hand. But, because of this site, I am on a better track. Working out (6 days a week--what?!), eating right, and after about 9 weeks here, on a great trajectory. Hang in there! I want to be nifty at 50! And I read a card the other day..."Hot flashes are just your…
  • 64oz is good...if you weigh 128lbs. From what I've read, if you care to lose weight, you drink half your body weight in ounces (water). I've also started drinking the Plumsmart (Light). That helps as well. Most of the over the counter cleanses work, but you shouldn't use them on a regular basis. So you need to incorporate…
  • I, too, struggled with this. I'd always had a hate/hate relationship with the gym. However, once I determined that I wasn't going to eat anything after 7:30PM, I was forced to do something. I DRAGGED myself out of bed at 5am. I'd set out my workout clothes the night before, programmed the coffee maker, and my work clothes…
  • I agree that carbs can be your friend if done moderately. Sara Lee 45 calorie per slice delightful bread (both whole grain and wheat) are pretty reasonable. Only 18 carbs for those two slices. Slap an egg on that, and you're doing OK, I say.
  • I am in the same boat as you. I've seen pretty good results throughout my body, but I still have a belly. But I have been told first on, last off. So, I will just keep up the fat burning until I reach my goal and will do my best to not get discouraged. I try to concentrate on the positive achievements and not be distracted…
  • I've worked my way up to 6 times a week at the gym. It has been a great turn around for me, as well, to WANT to work out. That was never my mindset. I'm just running (pun intended!) with it, while my body seems to crave it. (I push toward between 400-500 calories burned on those days.) Good for you, that you are so…
  • I suggest investing in a heart rate monitor. I have found it invaluable in gauging my true calories burned. Oftentimes even the machines at the gym aren't accurate, I've found, because they don't account for age, weight, etc. And, sadly, they were giving me numbers that were a bit over what I actually burned. So, it forced…
  • THAT is a great question. I've been struggling with that. If it is fresh fruit, or juice, can we go ahead and go over in our sugar grams total?
  • First, I am going to figure out a solid regimen to keep it off. I am thoroughly enjoying the process right now, but will be glad to move to the "maintenance" phase. Then, I will have a welcome back party for all of the clothes I've not seen in a while. (I have some cute clothes that I stored away!)
  • I've been reading this thread, and it begs the question, if not a digital scale, what scale would you have for the bathroom?
