  • The VSG was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Hopefully you'll feel the same way! The first two weeks to four weeks after surgery were rough for me, but then I hit the "honeymoon" period and LOVED it. The weight just melted off the first 3 months. Maintain the healthy lifestyle and drink lots of fluids. Keep moving…
  • Glad it went well! The first two weeks were a little tough for me, but it gets easier! You're about to lose ALOT of weight! :)
  • I could've created this post myself a week ago. I'm six months out and have lost 75lbs. Somewhere along the way, I slowly let snacking, carbs, and just generally unhealthy choices start to sneak back into my routine after a seemingly endless plateau. Of course those poor choices did nothing to help the plateau. About a…
  • Jumping back in and trying to be positive! Have yet to successfully meet a goal on these challenges, but this time will be different! SW: 276 CW: 207 GW: 195 Fitness goals: Reaching 10k steps a day at least 5 days a week, Try a zumba class, ride my bike at least 2 times a week, log all my exercise regularly Nutrition…
  • I have yet to meet a goal from one of these challenges, but I'm not giving up! Current weight: 205 Goal weight: 199
  • Congratulations! That's great!
  • It's such a personal decision. As you can see here, everyone has their own experience and opinion. If money is an issue, vsg is cheaper. I was told it was less invasive than the RNY. I was back at work in less than a week. I can speak about the reflux issue but they put me on protonix after the surgery just to be safe. I…

  • Feel free to friend me. I'm about 8 weeks post op from the sleeve. :)
  • Sounds like a great party!
  • I teach at a university and had my surgery the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I returned to class on the following Monday. It was actually quite rough for about two weeks, but the important thing to note is that IT GETS BETTER. You may possibly be very tired and emotionally stressed with the change. Be sure to drink LOTS of…
  • I'm in! Hoping for better results this challenge! CW: 216 GW: 200
  • I weighed out all the pros and cons and to be honest, because I was self-pay it came down to cost. At my clinic, the sleeve was half the price of the bypass. I had the sleeve at the end of November and have had no complications. My mom had gastric bypass four years ago and has had numerous complications including…
  • I'm from Stillwater, Oklahoma and am on the faculty at Okstate. I am married and have two beautiful young boys. I had the sleeve on 11/26/13. With pre and post surgery weight loss, I'm at about 60lbs lost. I still have 80 more to go, but I believe I can get there. This site has been useful for me and I'm glad there's a…
  • There is lots of great advice here. I'm just short of being a month out from surgery and I can honestly say I had no idea what to expect. I read and prepared myself the best I could, but I had no idea how psychologically challenging this process would be. I started the no starch, no carbonated, no caffeine, no sugar diet…
  • If you are pre-surgery, the B-12 pills are probably fine. After your surgery, because the stomach acids are changed the b-12 will not absorb into your body properly. My clinic suggests the sublingual (cheapest), the B-12 injections, or nascobal nasal spray. Good luck to you!
  • Thanks everyone!:flowerforyou:
  • Thank you! She's finally on the mend, but she was warned this may happen again. It's already happened twice and it was horrible. She's had a rough year battling mrsa, breast cancer, blocked bowels, and numerous other ailments. We are praying she is done with health issues for a while.
  • That's fantastic, Ann! I only have 7lbs to go for the challenge! I think I can do it. :)
  • Thanks everyone. I drank the broth and avoided the egg. It was filling and helped me immensely. This two week liquid diet is the hardest part of this entire process in my opinion. I'm grateful I didn't have to do the liquid diet before the surgery.
  • Thanks stroynaya! I did pick some up. :)
  • Pardon my ignorance, but what is the 5 day pouch test?
  • I'm two days past surgery now and I'm doing really well. The gas pains are kinda difficult to deal with, but hopefully they'll be gone in the next day or two. I'm not really feeling that hungry and I didn't have too much difficulty watching everyone eat their Thanksgiving dinner. I imagine it may get harder as I get closer…
  • Thanks, DJRonnieLINY! I'm feeling much better about it now.
  • Geesh, sorry for the typos. I'm having surgery on Tuesday is what I meant to say. I guess that's why this is freaking me out. She's had to have two separate surgeries due to obstructed bowels now. She does have some other health issues so in order to calm myself I'm assuming that her issues may be due to the combination of…
  • I switched to decaf tea and coffee and haven't noticed any difference in taste. It does contain minimal amounts of caffeine, but it's a great alternative to your usual cup of joe.
  • I'm in again! Having surgery on the 26th so it'll be hard to guess what's possible, but I'll try nonetheless. :) CW: 245 GW: 215
  • I didn't make my goal. Seemed to hit my first plateau in my weight loss for the last two weeks. Still going to keep moving ahead though. Managed to lose 12lbs during the challenge, so I am happy about that. Congrats to those of you who were able to meet your goal!
  • Progress is being made towards the goal. About a week ago I thought I had set the goal too high, but now I'm thinking it's possible! CW: 247 GW: 240 Only 7lbs between now and the 31st. Gotta get better at tracking food AND increase my workout times. Good luck everyone!
