  • Lots of people do IF. Go here: http://www.leangains.com
  • Just because YOU aren't hungry, doesn't mean your body isn't. If you aren't used to eating much, you have to sort of re-train yourself to eat more. Set up certain specific times in the day when you will eat your meals. Your body will get used to those feeding times and after awhile, you'll start to feel hungry when those…
  • That would be my suggestion as well. I'm not a member of a gym, and I was looking for a place where I could get tested. I looked up a university nearby and found they offered some tests for a fee. For an example, here's a university in my city offering some: http://www.memphis.edu/hss/crml/testing-services.htm I'm getting…
  • Read the part on water retention: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/adjusting-the-diet.html
  • ^^What she said. If you're annoyed with your friends about that kind of stuff, don't come on MFP and tell us about it. It's totally unnecessary.
  • I have that exact scale and like it a lot. If in doubt, consult your physician prior to use.
  • Use a level.
  • Do it while you're doing HEAVY lifting with Chalean Extreme for the best results.
  • Make sure your feet are not pointing straight forward. They should be pointed outwards at a 30-45 degree angle. You definitely don't want turn-in. You also don't want your knees going past your toes on the descent. If you're already doing that, then I would check with your physician.
  • If it's just daily activities, I don't log anything. FitBit will automatically send an adjustment over, if whatever you do is more than normally do in a day. If I'm taking a planned exercise walk, lifting weights, etc. 1) I will hold the button down until the stop watch starts going. 2) When you're done, hold the button…
  • No. Eat however many meals, whenever you want. As long as you're meeting your DAILY calorie and macro goals, you're fine.
  • Most people log whatever goes into their mouth. It's a good habit to just go ahead and log it, especially if you know how many calories it is anyways. If you don't want to, then don't. I would log it just because if I decide not to, then I might get in the habit of not logging other things, which for some people could turn…
  • How many ounces is the breaded chicken strip patty? does the half-boiled egg include the yolk? To me, it seems high but that's definitely the way to go when you aren't sure what's in it.
  • ^^Log everything. You say you've been gaining 10 lbs a year for the past few years. That equates to eating 96 calories per day above your maintenance and over what you burn through exercise daily. Those calories add up. Make sure you log everything.
  • Daily recommended values used by the FDA are based off of 2000 calories/day for women and 2500 calories/day for men. More reading here: http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=1349&page=28
  • For a 21 year old at 145 lbs, you're not eating enough at 1200 calories. For the past 5 days, you're averaging 1123 calories - 64g protein, 143g carbs, 42g fat Find out your body fat % here: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/ Then see what the chart says here: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/
  • Assuming sufficient high-quality proteins are being consumed in the first place, there should be more than enough of all of the amino acids present without any specific amino acid profile being required. You can read more here:…
  • As long as you're logging your calories, you're fine. You'll just have to tailor the rest of your meals to fit into your requirements for the day. Fruits still have calories and macros just like everything else.
  • ^^What he said. I eat 2 whole eggs per day plus egg whites, so about 14 whole eggs per week.

  • I've been a heavy drinker for a long time. As of today, I've been sober for 11 days. I've been logging foods on MFP for 35 days. My drinking was detrimental to my weight loss progress, so I quit. It's hard to stay consistent when you're consuming lots of alcohol calories plus making bad food decisions after drinking, then…

  • 1g/lb of lean mass if you have a high body fat. In other words, you're probably not consuming enough protein. If you're 200 lbs with 30% BF, that'd be about 140g of protein.

  • I haven't read the book, but I watched the movie 'Forks Over Knives' on Netflix, and they mentioned that study. It was interesting to say the least.

  • Take the suggestions from your other thread. They were: Eat more than the 1300 calories you're at right now. Look up the Eat More to Weigh Less group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less Incorporate strength training:…
  • I have the silver one and like it. It's an entry-level model without any bells and whistles, but it does what I need it to do. If you use the Search link at the top of the page, there's a ton of posts about it. It comes with a chest strap and gives me: total duration, time in-zone, calories burned, avg heart rate, max…
  • There's a MFP group with about 180 members on FitBit. If you join it, you can see where you rank after 7 days. http://www.fitbit.com/group/229K6Z
  • That's something you need to find in yourself when you are ready. If you don't want to change, you won't.
