Yup, that's what I do. Otherwise I'd be gorging myself on days of heavy exercise and starving myself on rest days.

Wow. That is a lot of people. We had fewer than that at our actual wedding.

That sounds like a fun class. I have taken boot camp classes that included treadmill sprints and enjoyed them. My resting heart rate is somewhere in the low 50s as well. I regularly average > 165bpm when doing some activities (like running). I do not feel that my RPE is over 8 until my heart rate is over 180 usually. I…

My routine has changed over the past few years quite a bit but somehow it always lands on about 7-9 hours per week when I'm in a good spot. It started out with boot camp + body weight class + martial arts + yoga at one gym that offered all of them. These days it's 4 days per week of running, 3 days per week of martial…

My wife introduced me to PB2 so I've been really enjoying it as follows ... Serves 2 2 Cups Almond Milk 1 banana 1.5-2 cups frozen, chopped kale 1.5 tbsp PB2 1 cup 0% greek yogurt 1 tbsp cocoa powder 1 tbsp honey 1 tbsp chia seeds ~0.5 scoops muscle milk just under 300 calories, depending on the size of the banana

It's more that I have heard people claim that about recycling and chose to ignore it. I don't even begin to understand the pizza delivery one. In some states, perhaps, they are already making a living wage. In most states, however, they rely on tips to make a living wage.

 tipping the pizza guy is a scam? This is news to me.

Me too. I gave up and just sautee it.

They are somewhat alive. Cards were a part of the tradition for a while back before they were manufactured and what not. Flowers, too, I believe. The sentiment of the historical valentine's day is still kind of there - letting people you love know you love them. You can certainly drown in consumerism, but there are still…

Hallmark has not been around long enough to have invented Valentine's Day. It has a strong religious tradition behind it and has been around for hundreds of years.

I like kale but it has to be seasoned and cooked properly or accompanied by proper things. Otherwise it is chewy and bitter and undesirable. Quinoa is ok. I prefer to avoid it for ethical reasons, these days. I just tried Freekeh because they had it at CostCo and I have never heard of it and don't know if Peruvian people…

I don't know or care if it's a money grab. Several years back I looked up the history of it and learned that there was a strong tradition of writing letters and poems way back. Therefore, for the first Valentine's Day with my wife, I wrote a poem and had a calligrapher transcribe it onto parchment. Since then we try to do…

Thanks for the note, AmyRhubarb. I have and really like Zombies, Run! and have been keeping an eye on The Walk. Zombies, Run! is probably the best running app I have in terms of motivation. Just a genius app. My favorite overall running app in terms of tracking things is iSmoothRun. It does EVERYTHING and does it well. I…

Try the hundred push up challenge: http://hundredpushups.com/#sthash.EHQeXh9n.dpbs You can start with whatever push-up you are capable of right now, be it wall push ups or knee push ups. The most important part will be to not cheat on form. Don't stick your butt out or go halfway down. The military has some pretty serious…

I hope that it is a treadmill you own and not one at the gym. I would never, ever, ever run barefoot on a gym treadmill unless I really wanted fungal infections. I used to run in five fingers. In fact, I trained for and completed a half marathon in them. I really enjoyed how they felt. Unfortunately, I got pretty bad…

It does sync with myfitnesspal. It generally is reliable but sometimes it can go haywire. The benefit is that you will get credit for your day to day moving if you tend to move around a lot. I usually get 100-300 more calories via fitbit due to walking a lot or, in the winter, shoveling snow. I have a one and I hide it in…

That is great news for you. Your weight will eventually follow. Right now you are becoming more fit and your body is becoming more powerful and useful to you.

Sorry, what I meant about triceps is, you don't want to work on any muscle EVERY day in my opinion. You need to give it time to rest and recover. Working on triceps is great, I was more wondering whether it was wise to do it EVERY day vs take a day off and work on a different muscle.

My recurring back issues got a lot better with a combination of Yoga and strong core exercises. If you are rolling your hips around on the ball, you might be compromising the spine by curling it, which could cause back issues to flare up (it does for me, if I am not careful). Make sure you are following a routine and not…

I get tired when I haven't worked out recently. That's normal. I personally do not have experience with not having enough free time. I am lucky that I have abundant free time. It allows me to work out a lot more than many of my peers and still lead a rich home life. I do not know how really busy people do it.

On a weekday, I don't eat if I exercise in the early morning. It causes heartburn and sometimes cramping. I will drink a glass of water and drink during my run sometimes. I prefer to run before lunch, however, if I can. Which is about 3-4 hours after breakfast. I cannot imagine running > 10 miles without food in my system.…

How/Where do you strike the ground? If you strike with your forefoot, your ankle is taking a lot more of the force. If you strike with your heel, it's your knees. Midfoot, somewhere in-between. I'm a forefoot striker, usually. I do tend to have more ankle problems. I've found that stretching the calves and ankles helps a…

I've run in 80 degree weather here in Madison, WI and in san francisco. It was a lot more tolerable in san francisco, not sure why. Perhaps because of the cloud coverage? Or the fact that I could see the bay and it uplifted my spirits. I have run when it's 30 out here and prefer that over 80 here assuming typical humidity…

When i saw this thread I kind of felt bummed because I have had an injury and now have been sick for a week and as such assumed I am unlikely to reach 100 miles. However, if fitbit is to be trusted, I am already over 100 miles in fact. I was only counting treadmill miles which are under 50.

I trained for it for 4 months being barely able to do 3 miles at the start and would have been fine in 3 months if not for breaking my pinky toe during training. I still beat my target time by almost 10 minutes.

I really like your avatar. That is probably my favorite all-time threadless shirt.

Kind of like lightly flavored, thickened water. The sweetened kind has a little more flavor but a lot more calories. I use the unsweetened kind in cereal as well. I do not recommend it for oatmeal if you are used to creamy and gooey oats.

Good read. Thanks!

I am sure many people do feel hungry constantly or regularly and still succeed. I can't succeed that way and I'm sure there are tons of other people who can't succeed that way either. I would guess that most of us with food and weight issues will not succeed if they have to "tough it out" and be hungry several hours a day.…

Doesn't sound good to me. I have pretty significant asthma but even when exercising it is under control. I do have issues with cold weather -- I tend to cough and have trouble catching my breath when working out outside (or sometimes even inside) in the late fall through winter. It feels a lot different than an asthma…
