I will give washing the strap by hand a try. I haven't replaced the battery in the transmitter. The transmitter is stored in my dresser in my bedroom so no water there.

I've been to Munich, Dachau and Salzburg. Salzburg is so beautiful, I loved it there. I have the FT4, have had it for almost 2 years with no problems. Every now and then my heart rate will be way off but it usually works correctly. Like I will be in yoga and it will say my heart rate is 200. Not even close! But it usually rights itself.

I have this in my left knee as well. It started a few months ago. I assumed it was from my runner's knee diagnosis (patellafemoral stress syndrome). It doesn't hurt but every time I go up steps it is crunch crunch crunch.
