  • Try to make sure you start out at YOUR pace. My guess is that you are not going to be trying to win the thing, so don't let your adrenaline carry you out to too fast a start. I have made that mistake and it makes the rest of the race a little less fun. The suggestion about your music is a good one if you run with music…
  • I am trying to figure out how much I care about walking vs. how much I care about just the overall time. I did this race last year, and my goal for this year is to be several minutes faster. I am thinking that that matters more than whether I walk at all or not. Best case would be to be able to do both (beat it AND not…
  • This is awesome!! Thank you all!! I think because I play tennis more than anything else, my body is conditioned to me stopping for water breaks which is why I am so sensitive to it. I also have to agree (though I cannot seem to get my head around it), that stopping does not cheapen the effort. I am quite sure that the…
  • I went to business school there and my daughter was born there. Does that count? Cheers!
  • Just West of Boston, but inside 128. And I even put the Boston skyline in my profile pic. Cheers!
  • Just extraordinary work! To lose almost two pounds a week must have taken incredible dedication. You should be incredibly proud and I hope you enjoy maintaining your new healthier you. Cheers!
  • You have it exactly right. Just jog when you can and walk when you can't and keep trying to push the jogging a little further. Way to go! And eager to see when you post that you have done your first 5K. Cheers!
  • Just spent a small fortune doing a big renovation inside our home, so now it is time to save for savings sake. Would be nice to have a retirement nest egg so that I don't have to work til I am really old! :-)
  • I have easily eaten more than a pint, but my favorite time was a long time ago when I was visiting the Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont (I called it "going to my personal Mecca" - no offense meant to anyone). Anyway, they announced on the tour that they were making my favorite flavor (at that time) that day, but that it…
  • RED SOX (even in this disastrous season). Right there in my profile pic for all to see. Huge Sox Fan!! Cheers!
  • On a friend's boat in Boston Harbor. It was a great day!
  • I am with you!! Apparently, I have only one gear and it is first gear. I am slow! I can go a good distance now, but the pace never seems to change. Sadly. I have been told by friends who are serious runners that the only way to increase speed is to do interval training. Because I HATE jogging and because I would not enjoy…
  • I remind myself that this is a lifestyle change I am making. I am not dieting. This is not a temporary fix, and I am not depriving myself. Rather, I am making better choices (staying within calorie budgets, exercising, etc.) so that I can be healthier
  • My waist ... I noticed I could tighten my belt another loop before the scale had even moved very much. Then I began to notice it in my face, I had cheekbones again. Make sure you exercise too and try to NOT think of it as a diet. Think of it as a lifestyle change and it is easier to be successful. Cheers!
  • Just an incredible loss in one year! You must have been remarkably dedicated. Great to see you achieve such success. Cheers!
  • Agreed!! The ONLY way I have found to do it is to resolve that this is NOT a diet. You are changing your lifestyle and want to make the change. So if that is the case, you have to stop thinking of "comfort food" and have to decide that you enjoy doing what it takes to stay healthy. That means regular exercise and portion…

  • AWESOME work so far!!! Well done!!! And I am with you. Those last 10 are the ones that have been there the longest and are the hardest to work off. I am working on those now and they are too freaking stubborn. Hope yours come off easier. Cheers!
  • A long long time ago, I could do one in under 30 minutes. My goal this summer is to be back under 30. Hoping to get there! Cheers!
  • Feel free to add me. Always happy to add guys who know how tough it is and want to be helpful. Cheers!
  • Hugely helpful! Thank you. As someone who has been taking fish oil, a multi-vitamin and vitamin D under a "why the heck not?" theory, I sincerely appreciate a better explanation. Cheers!
  • Just TREMENDOUS results!!! You look awesome!!! Keep it going and you will clearly achieve all your goals. Your progress to date is truly sensational! Cheers!
  • I always HATED running growing up (I was a tennis player and I used to try anything to get out of conditioning runs), but now I am finding that once you get past that first half mile, it is actually OK. The advice of getting good shoes is SO important. Find a real running store that can help you find the right shoe for…
  • I generally shoot for just over 3,500 per week. I try to play tennis 4 times a week, so that is 2,600 calories and then I jog twice a week, so that is another 1,000. Then when I factor in walking the dogs or doing anything else (like mowing the lawn), I actually have a shot at 4,000. This is a cool idea. Cheers!
  • Coryida got skipped. My favorite is the comparison pic because it is so striking. Close behind, the one carrying the big guy and the flexing. You have done AMAZING work. Truly inspiring!
  • Smiling Chica ... I like the one you have as your profile pic. Nice smile! The one in the striped dress is pretty as well. Cheers!
  • The person who said Document it is exactly right. There are laws in many states protecting employees against this kind of behavior. She needs to nicely say "I know you were drunk, but you can't do this again." and have him sign something that acknowledges his actions. Then they agree to pretend that it never happened and…
  • Come on people. A BIG BANK ACCOUNT!!! Sheesh!!! :-)
  • What he said! It's positively Pavlovian. Cheers!
  • As people have said on here, once you get to that level of income, its funny how one has a way of spending it (to a point). First you buy a bigger house. Then you save a bunch so your kids can graduate college debt free. Then you think about nicer cars and more vacations. My sense (without sounding like a jerk), is that it…
  • Just TREMENDOUS work!! Way to go!! And good for you for being willing to help motivate others to achieve similar success. He is a lucky guy and we appreciate his service. I am glad he will get such a great reward when he gets home. Cheers!
