:frown: I know I have to give my body time to adjust but I still felt just a smidgen of annoyance this morning when I weighed myself only to see: 198 on the scale. I just about strangled the scale but then let it go. I'll work even harder this week! By golly and gee I will get that number lower!

Thanks everyone! I'm not online much (print out my schedules and keep track on paper instead of online) but I will make a point of checking on Saturdays. :) I don't know how to dance so the only way I get TO dancing is to pretend no one's watching. Haha. Thus the quote!!!

My primary job is a Realtor's assistant. I have two other jobs as well (pianist - two permanent gigs but I get hired for side gigs now and then, and sales clerk).

Am I too late to join in? I think it'd help if I had a group to be accountable to (weigh ins on Saturday will keep me motivated). My name is Nik. 27 years old from Northern Canada. Started my weight loss journey at 230 lbs and am now at 198. My goal weight is 155 (been there in my teens, maintained it for over a year and…

:) Thank you for your response/story. Honestly I wish my mother could keep up with me! Often times when we hang out together I have to take care of her because she tires out so easy (no medical reason, she's just quite overweight and doesn't exercise beyond walking from the couch to the bathroom to the kitchen to bed). I…

I think it reinforces bad behaviors to force yourself to eat just because you have 2000 cals left to go. I'd say just do what feels right. If you're not hungry don't try and fill those cals and if you are hungry grab something with a little olive oil, or some nuts/seeds (high cals like woah!). Bottom line keep your body…

I'm glad Kris won. I just wasn't a fan of the theatrics. Adam has a great career waiting for him. I remember a time when someone with his flair would have been considered not American Idol material. Aren't they looking for the next great pop star? When did that change??? I haven't watched in years though so I probably…

I didn't log at all last week so this will be quite the challenge for me. I was reading a weight loss book (with strong Christian influence) the other day and I had to share their weight loss strategy. ONLY eat when you feel hungry but stop the moment you feel full. Never eat until you're stuffed, never eat if you don't…

:D COME ON now though. Who thinks: Geez... I bet if I set this on fire I can figure out how much energy is it!!! HAHAH.

Now I'm pondering if all scientists are pyromaniacs at heart...

I'm just sitting here pondering; HOW do they measure how many calories are in any particular unit of food? I feel a bit stupid. Perhaps I'm the only person in the world who doesn't know how that's done but I'd really like to know.

WEIGH YOUR CLOTHES. Hahahah. Seriously, clothes can be anywhere from 2lbs-5lbs. Even more I'd wager. So your scale isn't defective at all.

I worked for a Realtor for a long while and I can say that anytime her clients gave her gifts she was deeply touched and kept those gifts in her office. After awhile things got a bit cluttered as you can imagine! haha. Nothing wrong with presenting her with a little gift and as a previous commentor mentioned a testimonial…

Unfortunately I can't join the Pound for Pound challenge. Apparently Canadians aren't allowed to partake? 200 calories a day I can do just walking up and down the stairs at home. These things are a MONSTER and normally once I'm up I stay up... or once I'm down I stay down but maybe this will be an excuse to go up and down.…

In my experience gym people aren't the nicest people in the world so whatever you do don't ask any of your fellow gym goers for help. I'd suggest finding a member of the gym staff and seeing if they have any programs you can follow. Some gyms provide workout schedules for paying members. I don't know how university gyms…

Thanks for the welcome. We send our start weight this Tues and update with our weight every Weds right? All right, well this Weds I'm out of town and won't have access to a computer so I'll just ... send my weight Tues? It's a rainy day here. Well, not yet but the rain clouds have settled over everything. I love this kind…

Having a team seems like a good idea. Way to keep a person accountable! I'd like to join up.

I've only played it once but I actually didn't like it very much. :ohwell: I'd suggest finding a friend who owns one and trying it out before investing money in it. You might be one of the odd balls like me who don't agree with it.
-
I don't know any of these people but that made me chuckle.
-
We'll agree to disagree then.

To respond to the original post that started this thread. I think it's far better for people to exercise to 'earn' those calories, then to sit on their rear in front of the TV eating those calories. Small changes at a time. Soon enough they'll realize that cake they worked so hard for just isn't worth it, but maybe now…

Actually it doesn't.

Hm. I suppose I could give it a try. I'm in this for the long run so a slower loss rate isn't the end of the world.
-
I'm set at 1300 cals per day (they say 1260 but whatever ;). I've been tired since I started this weight loss thing. Basically from the first week I started cutting back calories to now. I've also been losing a steady two pounds a week since I started as well. The thing is I'm not terribly hungry during, before or after,…

Uh. A pinch of brown sugar, cinnamon and some raisins.

What kind is it? Chest strap? Wrist only? Brand? Model? Maybe it's possible to measure calories burnt using just your O2 level and heart rate? Check it out on google maybe!

Most of the time I'm just a data entry girl but sometimes I get to do stock and during those hours I'm lifting stuff, walking around, etc. I didn't think it was as much as my HRM is telling me it is but apparently ... it is! Haha. I don't know... where I'm getting hung up is that I'm only having those active days once a…

I couldn't eat 2000 extra if I wanted. Well... I could but I vowed not to have pizza pops anymore.

I work in retail. Out of curiosity I wore my HRM at work and discovered I burn 2000 calories over my resting calories while at work. (So basically I burn 2800 calories whereas I would normally burn 800 calories in that time while sitting still and doing little) ? Should I be inputting this as exercise? It's not an everyday…

Hi. How important are AV's? I've done this before. This weight loss thing. I was a fat kid, had an undiagnosed stomach issue (was allergic to basically everything you can imagine) that made my stomach hurt. I associated the pain with hunger so I ate to try and stop it. It didn't work (little did I know food was the actual…
