  • Water with a B6 tablet. :) It tastes great and gives me an energy boost.
  • Fair enough. Your Original Post did not mention disliking food as a kid, the post I was responding to did mention this. :) Anyway, that's why I suggested we make this a recipe thread. To show people how to combine those bad foods properly! ;)
  • That's far more useful then much of what's been said. :) But you shouldn't assume people dislike food just because they disliked it as a child. I'm pretty sure most of us aren't using our childhood discernment to judge what foods we like now... although I could be wrong. It's been awhile since I hung out in this forum.
  • I'm no expert but here's what I remember about weight lifting vs. cardio. Cardio is a weight loss tool. Weight training.... well, it depends. Of course the more muscle you have the more calories you burn BUT you can't gain muscles properly if you're on a restricted diet AND you probably WON'T lost pounds (but you will lose…
  • njjbosse - Actually I think there are a lot of assumptions going on all over here. 1st. You assume everyone hates certain foods just because they hated them as a child. 2nd. We are all assuming OP is suggesting we only eat foods we hate (IE: Healthy foods we hate) because it's good for us. We AREN'T kids, and it's kind of…
  • Yeah, she's pretty convinced the hormone is harmless so reminding her that her baby will be exposed isn't enough. And as someone else stated this is not something that needs a doctor prescription. She is ordering it online, no doctor in between her and the hormone at all. Part of the problem is that her mother is pretty…
  • :) I don't eat what I don't like - same as others have said. My issue is more there ARE foods I like but when I eat them they make me sick and that makes me sad. ): Peppers (and variety), for example... when I eat them my ears buzz and I usually experience dizzy spells shortly after eating them. Potatos - shortly after…
  • All right, this is definitely the diet she's talking about! Thanks guys. I have to admit I'm a little shocked that this diet has been so well received by some members of MFP. When I joined early last year this sort of thing would have been completely picked apart and tossed aside. :\ Wow! MFP sure has changed. Thanks again…
  • Could be, could be. There is no doctor involved in this though. Well, the guy who created the diet is supposedly a homeopathic Dr. Thanks girls! I'll look into the HCG diet and see if that's the one!
  • Week four FINALLY done! Holy MOLY that was HHAAAARD. BUT just when all hope was lost two VERY delectable young men jogged past and I have to admit watching their tanned, gloriously muscled backs run off into the distance was quite the bit of inspiration. :D Heh.
  • Okay it's been a week since I twisted my ankle so I decided to run tonight. It was pretty brutal... but I'm going to attempt week 4 on Thursday. I'm SICK of being in week 3 and my ankle doesn't hurt (too much) so I think it'll be okay. Keep running everyone!
  • Definitely be careful to choose a pace you're okay with! If you go too fast you run the risk of burning out!!! But the beauty is if you start slow you'll pick up your pace with time! But if you start too fast you'll get discouraged and quit. As for me I'm grounded from running until my ankle gets better. ): I suspect I'll…
  • So, yesterday on my run I hit a bit of a 'bump' in the road (which I didn't anticipate or see). I twisted my ankle and tumbled a bit before finally coming to a stop. After I managed stop laughing and get up I finished the run but today I'm left with a swollen left ankle and a right leg that's bruised nearly from knee to…
  • I'm a pianist. I play for my church and the local choir. I taught piano for seven years but realized I was terrible at it and quit. I've been playing since I was around 7 years old and just never stopped. :) Originally I played primarily by ear but after training I play mostly by sheet now and wish I COULD play by ear…
  • I haven't run on a treadmill since last year so I have no idea how that feels. In other news I am tackling week 4 next Tuesday! I'm really very excited... I don't know if I'm properly ready (that last 3 minutes ALWAYS kill me) but I'm willing to give it a try. Congrats to all you ladies! Keep pushing!
  • I'm going to do this... if I feel brave enough I might even post it as my profile pic instead of just pasting it on my wall. ):
  • Without the tip your meals sound about the same price (taking into consideration the dollar conversion of course). Actually I think we might be a wee bit cheaper. This weekend I was at a restaurant and paid $10 (canadian) for my meal and drink. I DID happen to leave a tip but just because I had requests above and beyond…
  • I don't know. Tipping is NOT how people receive wages here and eating out isn't all that expensive... so I'm not so sure removing the system would TRULY make things sooo much more expensive. I mean, how cheap IS it to eat in American restaurants? Really? I've never been so I have no idea. ):
  • Yes and then the customer gets to decide how much they're paying and honestly that's so messed up. Just add that 'wage' to the total bill and this whole drama wouldn't exist. :)
  • And this is what I've always said - those in the service industry are just fine with their wages and the tipping system because they rake in the money. ;) The tipping system is fine for you - the server, it's not such a great situation for those being served. Why was she a witch just because she didn't leave a tip??? Think…
  • I think this is entirely a personal choice! In my opinion I think focusing on building muscle/bulking up would be a good choice for you right now. I think if you're doing heavy lifting and all that you might lose weight still despite the muscle training... but it's really on you. Do you want to be smaller then you are or…
  • Ed, are you asking us if we think you should bulk up or continue trying to lose?
  • You know... my HRM calculated that I burn 150 doing the Leslie Sansone 1mile walk... I think the numbers would vary GREATLY for everyone... but I also thinking knowing how far you walked in what amount of time would be the next best gauge to a HRM.
  • Heeee... "Myself keeps slipping away - away" a little metaphor for weight loss???
  • C25k Nicole Blum podcast. :)
  • A few things keep me motivated. 1) Anytime I look in the mirror I'm reminded of where I am. Usually this is enough to stop me from overeating. 2) Anytime I see pictures of the people on here who've lost weight and/or are building muscle I am reminded where I want to be and I remember that I can't get there if I let myself…
  • Bumping so I can keep track of this one. :) Interesting discussion!
  • Wow! What a change in your arms!!! Good work.
  • The day I hit 199 I literally danced around the bathroom. Hee. It's great.
  • Here's the deal. If I sit here for the next 30 minutes I will burn 50 calories. MFP has already calculated this into my daily food allotment. If, instead, I go to the gym and burn 300 calories I have an extra 250 calories burned OVER the 50 MFP has already given me. So yes, I believe subtracting the calories you would have…
