the purpose of lifting is to build muscle, which will in turn burn more calories all day long.

I saw changes within a few weeks. Everyone is different. Lifting heavy will give quicker results all around (muscle increase, strength increase, fat loss). But if you are heavier, it will take longer to "see" results as those muscles will still be buried under layers of fat.

The only mistake you're making is keeping the judgmental family members around. Unless they want to offer support, it's really none of their business what or where you eat.

I'm really surprised they would put you on Depo at your age at all! It's well known to cause bone loss, which is exactly the opposite of what you need in your teen years. I think it's probably contributing to your problems with weight loss, but its not the only thing. Previous "extreme dieting" has likely screwed up your…

cheese sticks are a great low carb/ low cal snack

I care about science too. This article isn't about any SCIENCE used to "debunk" the benefits of ACV. It's simply listing the authors reasons for not believing them. There aren't any STUDIES listed that disprove the benefits. Science is great, but the fact is that everyone's body is different and reacts to things…

are you really surprised?

drink lots of water!! sounds counter -intuitive, but your body won't hold on to it if it's getting enough. nothing else you can do really :/

Bumping for later. Thanks for posting!

I just wait to log exercise until after my food is logged for the day. No confusion ;)

get yourself a copy of "The New Rules of Lifting For Women". It's an excellent program for beginner lifters. I've had a lot of success with it.

The database is generic, mostly entered by other users. So if someone were extremely obese, or going at an insane pace/resistance, they might have burned that much, and that is the baseline used for all new calculations. The machine probably asked your age/weight, so that would be more accurate than using someone else's…

i hope you don't eat out, because restaurants are required to sanitize (bleach) dishes, and they don't get rinsed afterwards.

THIS!! I consider myself to be in pretty good shape (I lift, I run, bike, etc...), but only last 15 minutes the first time I went snowshoeing, and had to sit and read to catch my breath for awhile before heading home. It's not nearly as easy as it looks, likely because you are not just exerting yourself, but also breathing…

Not really... your macros, and the timing of your exercise compared to those macros, will make a huge difference in whether you are burning fat or lean muscle tissue. You may still be losing weight, but the result is far from the same.
-
Get yourself a copy of (and then follow) The New Rules of Lifting For Women. It will answer all of your questions, and focuses on fat burning/ muscle definition w/o getting "bulky". Excellent program that should help you see pretty fast results.

Or, you could just use the recipe calculator

This. You need to learn how to eat the way you plan to eat for life. If you cut those things out to lose weight, then once you reach your goal and start eating them again, you will just gain all the weight back. Try eating sweets only when you've had a good day and have some extra calories to burn. Or have just one or two…

THIS... weight training is essential. since it's both of you, also get New Rules of Lifting For Women. Excellent program-- not too difficult for beginners, but VERY effective. but also, use the other cardio machines as well. using just one routine, your body becomes accustomed to it, thereby making it less effective.

If you do, be sure that your activity level is set to "sedentary", as your usual daily activity is already included otherwise.
-
This is common and not a problem. However, you SHOULD be eating back your exercise calories (at least half), especially if you're hungry! Time of day won't affect weight loss, so don't worry about eating late unless you have digestive issues.

YOU could learn to cook ;)

This. And add weights too (even 10-20lb dumbbells). You really need to increase muscle in order to lose the flab. I haven't seen your diary, but eating higher protein and lower carbs will also help, if you're not already doing this.
