unless you are extremely obese (as in, you have to use the electric cart at walmart because your legs can't support you) or have some other severe medical condition, walking only burns about 100-125 calories per mile (regardless of speed). so at 3.5mph for an hour, you would burn between 350 and 437 calories. looks like…

this is not a bash but an honest question: how is it that dairy does not fit into paleo but almond milk does? seems our ancestors were more likely to have milked a wild cow than to have processed almonds into "milk".

if it fits w/in your calorie/macro goals, drink it however you want. personally, i mix a scoop of vanilla protein powder into mine instead of creamer.

I'm in!

"The New Rules of Lifting For Women" Get it. Read it. Live it.

If you're never sore, then you aren't doing all you can, and will not increase your strength. The way I understand it, each time the workout says to decrease reps/ increase sets, you should be increasing your weights (if possible -- if it takes maximum effort, don't increase and hurt yourself).

There really ARE some awful ones. You got lucky! (or, your husband already tried the awful ones  )
-
definitely in!
-
Get yourself a copy of "The New Rules of Lifting For Women". This will give you lots of info on both diet and exercise. Then join a gym and follow the plan. You will love yourself for it!

jess, my sister is your same height/weight/fitness level. she doesn't "track" anything, just eats clean most of the time and goes out/drinks whenever the mood strikes, following the same rule of eating only til full. she maintains her weight w/in a couple of pounds in either direction, and only gets "serious" about exactly…

you should be eating 1200 calories PLUS your exercise calories. 1200 is NET. you definitely need to eat more :(

I know that for most women, this is not the reason they are against porn/pro erotic novels, but I will say that from a strictly moral standpoint, there is a huge difference. Porn (in the form of photos or video) denegrates the participants, be they men or women. They are essentially selling their bodies, and the viewers…

I'm heading to a music festival next week. same deal -- four days-- though it's a christian music festival, so there won't be all day alcohol involved (in our room will be a different story, i'm sure!). we plan on eating breakfast in our room, then packing food to bring with us. We'll be on our feet all day, walking,…

I would need a lot more information before answering this. How many calories is MFP recommending? How much weight are you set to lose each week? If you're set @ 1/2lb or 1lb, then you could still safely go under by 500-750/day (this would put you @ 2lb/week). If you're set @ 2lb/week already, or are smaller & MFP has you…

Definitely add some strength training. Check out "The New Rules of Lifting For Women". I started a couple of weeks ago -- INCREASED my calories by 250/day, and I'm down 2lbs already!

check out planet fitness. they have a "no critics" policy. i joined a couple weeks ago, and get nothing but smiles and encouragement from the other members

this morning i burned 711 cal at the gym so i could have "fair food" at the county fair today. still went over, but only by 30. it's gotta be something more significant than cereal for me to work for it :noway:

This. Just be really tuned in to your body, and listen to what it's telling you.

I definitely have the same problem. As a matter of fact, when I was doing "Rapid Fat Loss" and only had about 800 cal/day to use, I STILL had a hard time and had to force myself to eat. Unfortunately, any time I have a "treat", suddenly I can eat, and eat, and eat! I'm super carb sensitive, but when I'm eating "clean",…

This. Honestly, it's ridiculous the way people PREACH about starvation mode on here. It's not an overnight thing. You'd have to eat below 1200 for at least a couple of weeks straight before that would happen, even longer if you are extremely overweight. For the morbidly obese, we're talking months. So save up those…

I actually STARTED drinking it for my "diet". I add vanilla protein powder instead of creamer for a nutritional boost.

i read an article about this not too long ago (can't find it now). exercise will help a bit, but more important is that you keep hydrated (inside and out), and get plenty of protein in your diet -- at least 1/3 of your calories (which is more than what mfp default settings say. you'd have to go in and manually change…

i haven't tried ketogenic, but did rapid fat loss (which is basically a more extreme form of the ketogenic, only to be used for short periods of time). for me, it was definitely worth the effort. i lost 15lbs in 6 weeks (where i was losing MAYBE 1/2lb/week before that), and i felt amazing!! also saved me a lot of money…

what others have said is true--you may very well be retaining water. you have not, however, gained 5lbs of muscle in 2 weeks. that's just not possible :( i'm curious as to how you are calculating your exercise calories? if you are using the mfp database, it's notoriously inaccurate, and this could be a huge part of the…

I haven't read it myself, though I have read/used "The Rapid Fat Loss Plan" and can say it was 100% worth the $40 I paid for it, and then some! You can get The Ketogenic Diet directly from Body Recomposition for 49.95. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/the-ketogenic-diet Yes, his prices are a bit steep, but it's good, solid…

i'm 38 now, but went through the exact same thing at around 32! my husband actually suggested i see someone to figure out what was "wrong" with me!!

exactly. madonna doesn't look "bulky" or "manly". she looks deformed. i know lots of girls who lift heavy and look AMAZING. i personally just started NROL4W last week, and can see/feel a difference already. more tone/definition, and my shirt sleeves are a bit LOOSER.

This is one of the things I wanted to talk to you about. I just started "The New Rules of Lifting For Women". It's an amazing program, for both diet and exercise. I highly recommend it. Just started my second week, and I can see a difference already!!
