  • http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/fitness/weight-loss/how-to-avoid-having-loose-skin-after-losing-weight.html especially the part about eating a balanced diet, and COLLAGEN. i have read this many, many times. and if you think about it, collagen is what is prescribed for reducing/preventing facial wrinkles, so it only…
  • Or, today is day SIX. Apparently lack of carbs has affected my ability to count. :ohwell:
  • This is why HIIT would be very beneficial. You burn far more calories in the same amount of time, and it raises your metabolism for hours longer than even brisk walking. Also, weights (alternate days w/ HIIT) would help you build muscle to burn more fat faster. You may see a slight increase on the scale when you start…
  • It's definitely possible, but just to be sure, how are your pants fitting? If they are getting looser, it's actually happening. If not, then you are probably just not measuring in exactly the same place. Not trying to be a downer, but I like to give real life advice ;) Either way, 8.4 lbs in under a month is pretty…
  • Today is day five. I'm down about 5 lbs (had a little binge on Mother's Day before I started on Monday), and would be about 7-8lbs if not for the refeed. So, it's definitely working for me. Will be on RFL for 6 weeks, unless I hit my goal before then. That will give me about a week to be on maintenance before heading to…
  • Thanks so much! I was starting to feel somewhat alone on here!! Haven't been able to find an EC Stack anywhere around here (I live in a very rural -and overweight- area), but I do drink green tea every day, so I think that helps. I have been eating 3 meals a day, and even at the low cals and only salads for "carbs", I have…
  • Hard to give you an idea of an ultimate weight goal w/o knowing how tall you are ;) You look pretty slim in your pic. Perhaps now your goal should be to tone. Often people need to drop "fat" rather than "weight". Good luck!
  • Try kettlebells. Either get some heavy ones (35lbs+) and go to mbodystrength.com for some great workouts, or try lighter ones (15lbs) and use kettleworx.com dvd's, which are (my description) a combination of traditional kettlebells, cardio, and pilates. Definitely a great bang for your buck! Kettlebells work multiple…
  • folks have been recommending you hire help for your business, but it may be cheaper for you to hire a cleaning service instead. then you can focus on your business, and come home to a clean house and less stress.
  • where do you get off calling yourself "PASTORJosh"?! when someone comes to MFP looking for support, that's what we should be giving her. fitness is not entirely about diet and exercise, but also STRESS plays a significant role in our health. if you can't be supportive, why be here at all?
  • Can't see your diary, but I'll take a stab in the dark and say you should up your protein intake (reduce carbs/fat). Also, I recently read that yohimbine works to burn off stubborn fat on the belly & rear. Haven't had a chance to research it yet, but it may be something to look into if your are comfortable w/ taking…
  • This. Kettlebells (even @ the gym, if they have them) are perfect because the exercises don't generally target just one muscle or muscle group like machines or even free weights. I love them! Use them several times a week, and I can see great tone, even through the fat I still have to lose  My brother in law is a…
  • Other advice by Lyle McDonald: Yohimbine is supposed to target stubborn fat on your stomach & rear. Not sure of the dosage, but it's something you could look into.
  • all five of your kids get you workout clothes for Mother's Day!
  • Heavy weights won't make you bulky unless you're doing hours in the gym. Women don't get truly "bulky" w/o taking supplements/drugs to make it happen. But, heavy weights aren't needed to get "cut" either. So it really depends on what you are comfortable lifting. As for your diet, you definitely need to drop the calories if…
  • <guilty!> drives my husband nuts!
  • 4:30? I'm done by then
  • Most important is simply that you get it in! But if you're looking for the greatest benefit, mornings are definitely best. Workouts raise your metabolism for hours afterward. Best to take advantage of that extra energy, rather than sleeping through it!! Also, if you work out first thing, on an empty stomach, your muscles…
  • Whether or not these things are true, think about all the things you KNOW are true about Coke, or any other soft drink. At it's best, it's a bottle of nutritionally empty calories. (And even w/o the calories, diet is not good for you. Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners have been known to cause all kinds of health…
  • Absolutely everything I ate yesterday!!!
  • Sign me up!!! The more partners, the better ;)
  • Ryan Shannahan is a great kettlebell coach. www.kettleworx.com I love these dvd's! He stresses proper form, and although his personality is a little goofy at times, he's not nearly as annoying as JM or some others ;)
  • I LOVE MY KETTLEBELLS!!! Definitely keep with it -- you will love the results! I use Kettleworx (www.kettleworx.com) dvd's, which basically turns it into a combination of strength and cardio training at the same time. I highly recommend this program. It's a 6 week program, and you never do the same workout twice, so…
  • Hmmm.... anyone?
  • Hi there! You've come to the right place for support/ encouragement!! MFP is great! Feel free to add me as a friend. Also, look into the groups. I am part of "30 Somethings", and I believe there is at least one group for folks who need to lose 100+ Desire is the most important ingredient for weight loss (or any goal,…
  • Night time isn't a bad time for a protein shake, but it really isn't the best time for a workout if you can possibly get it in any other time of the day. At the very least, try to make it at least 3-5 hours before bed. And drink your shake after the workout, so you have the protein for recovery.
  • What kind of exercise are you doing? Sounds like you need to focus more on that than calorie intake per se. Try to focus on weight training, w/ maybe just 15 minutes of cardio daily (eliptical would be great for toning your legs as well). As for the calculator, you should be entering all of your info into it, including the…
  • Hi Nicky! Congrats on your success so far!! Feel free to add me ;)
  • She can't stick to her calorie goal AND get enough protein if she eats as much sugar as she wants. Simple math.
  • When you work a muscle, you build that particular muscle. But the calorie burn is always total body. To get more muscle tone from the stairs, try taking them two at a time-- three if they are smaller ;)
