I think that it is very difficult to get the proper guidance on dealing with an ED in an online forum. (My background: I had an eating disorder many years ago and worked with other women with EDs for a brief time. Yet, still no expert!) It is SUCH a difficult illness for people to wrap their heads around, and it is so…

I'm overweight. I know it. When MY doctor says it to me, I don't feel offended. When I have a check-up or physical it is usually something like: "Your (blood) levels are all excellent, but you are still relatively young. You still need to lose some weight to continue to be healthy and lower your risks for diseases.…

It is different, running outside vs treadmill, so give your body a few weeks to adjust. I wouldn't push for speed during the C25k at all. You should work on endurance and conditioning, first. Speed will come naturally (to some degree) and more advanced running programs begin to incorporate speed work. And, I totally agree:…

@ahajduk - knee tucks - sounds evil. I'll have to give them a go as i really need the stabilization from strong obliques. @barbiecat - out of 100 people, only 5 left in a challenge? Wow. I've done a few challenges, and you do typically lose a lot of people, but that number surprises me. I'm glad a few people have stuck…

Wasn't it palm oil in the movie theater popcorn?

Well, I've been observing a beginner's yoga class, and I've started teaching a couple of beginner students. They can barely get into proper plank position, much less hold it. So, I'm thinking I've been underestimating the difficulty of the plank, for sure. I did have a 75 sec plank early one morning - so y'all may be onto…

Same thing happens to me when I use protein powders that are not lactose free, but I didn't think I was lactose intolerant. But, i have IBS, so that may be part of it. I've read that it can be teh lactose, so I'm trying lactose free powders and lactaid with the one i've already bought. Curious to see other responses.

People shouldn't pressure you about making such big decisions (or any, really). My family and friends do this to me and I just tell them that it is none of their business. They now know better than to get into my personal life in this way. Makes things easier. And, sometimes, when someone slips up and still takes a jab at…

I have one and I love it. Great for ITB. There are many sites that give you instruction on how to use them - just google myofascial release. I've seen dvds with full roller sessions on them. Be warned - it is painful at times and tiring to use if you're sore from working out. I made a small "roller" out of two tennis balls…

After a plank-heavy yoga class, still got 60 secs on my timed plank. @ahajduk - you are a machine! Please tell me you have a core of steel. Planks are kicking my *kitten* and I need reassurance that I'm accomplishing something as I can't seem to do more than 60 sec after a full month!

I'd never use one again. It took several shots of tequila for me to continue past the first strip. My boyfriend laughed at me and wouldn't even help me to yank the third strip off. I think I ended up going to the salon to have the job finished. Worst hangover ever! He!!s No!

Waitrose has some salads and side salads with no croutons or dressing (still in a bowl). I just buy some of the roasted chicken breast or some feta/goat's/other cheese to add to it. I've given up on pre-made dressings. I've started making my own dressings and keeping it in recycled glass jars. That way, guaranteed to only…

Yeah, I don't use artificial sweeteners. But, I'm trying to eat a minimal amount of processed "food." Plus, I don't like the taste. If I'm going to break down and have something with sugar in it...I just have something with sugar in it.

ooh, yeah! I love the stick! It is the same idea as the foam roller, but less painful.

Interesting. Actually, I don't see your first point as necessarily negating mine. Rather, I see a different possibility: you are able to see stereotypes for what they are and recognize when the "stereotypical male" doesn't apply to you. You might be a very confident person and are able to see the stereotypes as outside you…

Oh man, I try never to post on these types of threads - Don't. Get. Sucked. In! I'm laughing at myself, but here goes, anyway. I think the OP was simply trying to say that she had a realization about taking her partner for granted and wanted to share that insight. Where she went sideways a bit, IMHO, was that she took her…

I've never heard of massage helping to tone up, exactly, nor have I heard that massage can result in "bumps." I don't know if what you're saying is wrong, and I'm no expert. I've just never heard these assertions before. I see a sports massage therapist along with my physiotherapist to address some injuries and imbalances…

Happens to me. I walk outside everyday. If it is hot or if my hayfever is acting up - it is pretty bad. I rinse my hands in cold water when I get in and they are back to normal in no time. It doesn't happen when I run, so I'm wondering if it is just a consequence of hte hands hanging? (since my hands are at my waist,…

Hi. I've been practicing yoga off and on for years. I love it! I started yoga as a way to help manage stress (my job was a real killer). Now, I'm studying to be a yoga teacher, so I'd love to have more yoga buddies here on MFP.

Hi. I'm studying to be a yoga teacher, actually. I love yoga and practice quite a bit. Feel free to add me.

That does suck, but you never know what goes on in someone else's relationship. She may be insecure, but he may give her a reason to be jealous. You never know. I had a boyfriend that played my emotions and tried to make me jealous. But, don't let it ruin your time!

...you eat more veggies than the vegetarians!

Hmmm...tough one. On the one hand, you can already complete 35 minutes of running, on the other hand, the C25k program does help you slowly add running time so that you train the muscles and other tissues involved specifically in running. Adding too great a distance, too fast can lead to injury. You might be able to…

I gotta echo squats of all kinds, lunges, dead lifts and fat loss. As these exercises get easier, add greater range of motion and weights. It takes time, cause even after you build up the muscle, you probably will have to lose more fat before you see the true result. I add ballet plié. For the plié (if you aren't familiar)…

Congratulations! That's a great time, too.
