It is across the chest, but ideally resting on the shoulders, unless your posture prevents this.

I would also recommend purchasing the Starting Strength DVD. I have read the 1st - 3rd Editions of the book and last week I got the DVD in which Rippetoe coaches a wide range of trainees on all of the lifts. I really got a lot out of it for less than $30 shipped.

Yeah, Mehdi wants you to always clean it from the floor; Rippetoe says always from a rack set at clavicle level. I'm just finishing with the rack when it is time to start OHP, so I say doing it from the same rack.

I was going to attempt these today, but just dropping the bar from the rack position jarred my bad shoulder to the point where I decided anything more is just going to be too much. Otherwise, I really think I could get to the point of doing at least light power cleans with the current gym setup. I do see guys doing them…

Okay, finally a workout! I delayed Friday's workout due to a migraine, which was still hanging on yesterday. So, finally go it done today. Squats: 113 (chicken, I wanted progress but not quite ready for 115 yet since every time I try it feels so dang heavy, used fractional plates to go up from 112 to 113. Seems silly, but…

Good point! LOL. Actually, I don't see a lot of people doing them and the last one was a female athlete. I know I saw somebody doing something at the gym recently that made me cringe, but I'm old and forgetful and I can't remember what it was.

Especially since you put on weight while you were dating, I can't see why he wouldn't be supportive of your losing weight? Don't most guys want a hot girlfriend? My bf is always supportive of anything I do to improve my physique. Now if you said you wanted to be the fattest woman in the world, honey, will you support me?…
-
Yep, you sure are...and you look great! Good job!

How many Certs qualify as a binge?

Okay, then I'm wrong. I didn't know pork fat was more unsaturated than saturated. So I guess it has it's own balance. Anyway, coconut oil is saturated, too, so I screwed up on that one as well. I love all fat anyway, so I'm not worried about it. I just always try to avoid processed foods...cured bacon is processed.…

Ha ha....I have never binged on it, but I will eat dry spaghetti and my bf just shakes his head. I love to snack on uncooked ramen noodles...had that for dinner last night. I just eat a whole square at once.
-
I love chicken gizzards! I don't have a special way of cooking them...but if you can share how your Oma cooks them, I'd love to try it. I don't know if this is that weird, but my worst binge was on Shredded Wheat prepared hot, with butter and brown sugar. I couldn't stop. The next day I was still stuffed and I threw up at…

Is that for IPhone only or do they have it for Android? I saw something similar, but it wasn't SL. I don't have a phone...just a tablet and I can't see risking my tablet's health bringing into the gym. I keep a spreadsheet at work and print it out to bring to the gym as a log. Not too difficult to transfer results for 3…

Pretty much that!

I personally cannot handle not having something to eat close to bedtime. Unless I'm just too busy to eat, I am never done eating so early in the day. You can eat a few hundred more calories. But keep in mind if you are eating at a deficit, you are likely to feel hungry at some point. It only makes sense if you're burning…

There are no BAD fats. Saturated fat is only bad if you eat it to the exclusion of other fats. We need all three fats, which was the whole point of Smart Balance...it is an equal balance of all three fats. But Smart Balance only makes sense if the fats you eat throughout the day from the foods you eat also have that…

Fitness or figure? Figure is all about working hard to sculpt your physique and show it off onstage. I've watched one competition and, while the women look great, it isn't as if men are their to hoot and holler at the hot women. It is a competition and the people in attendance are other competitors, friends or competitors,…

Or...9. There are about 9 calories per gram of fat.

Oh, unless you count the two times I made a pig of myself at Farrell's when I was 15 eating the famous Trough (the equivalent of two banana splits--so, 2 bananas, six scoops of ice cream, and all the disgusting toppings). After I finished, all I had to do was stand up and oink for my ribbon. That was only 35 years ago!

Since I so seldom indulge, I will eat a pint of B&J's. The one with the Heath Bar's is my fav.
-
Well, not when it's sitting in front of me. I don't eat bacon on a regular basis, when I indulge I definitely make the most of it.
-
You are just tasting, right, not eating entire slices of cake? And how many different cakes could there possibly be to get you in trouble? Just don't say mmm...not sure...just another bite...repeatedly!

This is a legitimate exercise. It has been in a few workout programs I've used. As long as the barbell is in the low position, it really isn't particularly dangerous. The bar shouldn't be rising up and slamming back down as you land. I have seen others do it and it does seem scary, but when I tried it, I found it wasn't…

I haven't tried it, but I suspect they are delicious together! I love both, eat both in moderation. Bacon, bacon, bacon!!!
-
You didn't have to switch programs...BOR's were always the substitute for power cleans for those who don't have the proper equipment for doing safe power cleans. I've been watching the Starting Strength DVD after reading all three editions of the book and I'm kind of itching to try power cleans. He's got so many different…

I also had that thought!

Wow, you're trainer is a jerk. Revel in the attention! You earned it. It is a great feeling. Being a little full of yourself beats feeling insecure or self-conscious about how you look. I thought your post was going to saying you didn't enjoy it. I think it's great that your husband is enjoying it, too!

Five weeks.

I have to say I wouldn't but I guess my thinking is stuck in the 70's when bikini's were for girls with completely flat bellies. I never had a flat belly at any weight or age, so I have never been comfortable in a bikini. I have posted progress pics in a bikini, but I don't wear one in public. But you really need to know…

I have fractional weights now that I'm looking forward to using on my next OHP workout. I can go up as little as 1/2 lb. if I want. I used them to add 2 lbs. on BP last night. I guess adding under five to the bar isn't terribly macho, but if it gets you unstuck...any of you guys considering these?
