Great story! Congratulations! That a big loss. Good for you!

Yeah, MFP is probably giving some kind of average because it can't know you're true intensity. You may be burning more, but isn't an underestimate better than an overestimate? I would doubt it is off by too much. What is confusing to me is that as you continue to do that class, as your body adapts, and once you've reached…

10. Awesome!
-
I actually noticed when I wear my HRM for my runs MFP is right on target. I was actually very surprised as my fear was that it would overestimate.

#2 and #4. #1 is least flattering.

I say eat any fruit you like whenever you want. As long as you stay within your calories you'll be fine. Bananas are wonderful and I eat them whole. Great pre-workout nutrition...potassium aids muscle contraction, the sugars provide fuel, and they digest fairly quickly. According to MFP, one medium orange in a day puts me…

Nice! Holy Cow!

Whoops, sorry! I own a spinning wheel, so you're not alone. In fact, in the interest of supporting my hobby, my dad made my spinning wheel and went into the spinning wheel business.

Yeah, I don't know how that choice of words could really be interpreted as a compliment.

I think it is perfectly fine when you know someone is trying to lose weight. I'm sure she loved hearing that the results of her efforts are showing. I do this all the time with people I know who are actively trying to lose weight. Nobody is ever offended...they light up.
-
This is true because a pound of muscle burns from 6 - 35 calories per day, depending on who did the study, more than a pound of fat. It is a lot of work to add even one pound of muscle...I wouldn't rely on the fat burning capabilities of a little extra muscle.
-
It is really an individual thing. It makes no difference if you eat three meals or six as far as losing weight goes. But some people have an easier time sticking with it if they eat more frequently, or may be less apt to feel very hungry. It is more about what helps you with your compliance than anything.

I think people have become so accustomed to our significantly fatter population that they don't know what a healthy weight looks like. Except for those with eating disorders, thinner is almost always healthier than fatter. I also think people that know you can feel really threatened when you take control of your health and…

With all this talk of failing at the squat, I wanted to share my experience and why I would never rely on a spotter. Failing is not always going to be just a matter of "I can't get up". It can happen in a instant and without warning. Several years ago I was recording my 1RM for the three lifts--squat, bench press and…

It is apparently different in different parts of the country. In Southern California you would never hear a young girl called ma'am by anyone of any age, unless it done playfully. I was a young mom the first time I heard it. It felt weird, but I got used to it. And I agree it is a term of respect.
-
I believe it does have something to do with age. Ma'am is equivalent to Madame, which I think would at least mean you're old enough to be married. Miss is equivalent to mademoiselle...a younger, unmarried woman, my interpretation anyway. However, I'm not offended by ma'am because I know it is said out of respect. Anyway,…
-
I agree completely.
-
Exactly what I was going to say! Although I do remember not liking being called ma'am before I had kids. Once you have kids that aren't brand new babies, I think they're going to call you ma'am, and it is meant to be respectful.

It's not at all sticky if you could it right and you add yummy things to it to give it more flavor. Yum ... I've loved it all my life..rolled or steal cut.

I have a good friend who has had pretty serious sleeping issues and was taking sleeping aids. Since I got her started lifting, she has stopped the sleep aids and has no trouble getting to sleep. She was amazed that a little lifting would make such a huge difference.

I go to the gym straight after work so, no. But even if I go on the weekend, I wouldn't unless I was feeling particularly gross. I don't mingle or socialize so unless I was really smelly, there is no reason.

Yes, lbs. Today's workout: Squat: 110 BPress: 80x5x3, 80x4x2 - Retry next week DL: 150 I ordered the 3rd edition of Starting Strength on my Kindle app last night. Boy, each edition gets better and better. He has added considerably to the details on performing the squat...revising some of the cueing. I read it this…

This ^ and Jaime worked really hard to specifically get that look I'm sure doing lots of isolation work. Your arms are going to get smaller and more defined. Defined is not bulky, but it is sexy. Who wants boring straight cylinders for arms? Keep in mind also that when you see body builders/fitness models in photos they…

I am doing the program from Rippetoe's Starting Strength, which is in a different order. Everything else is the same. But deadlifts follow bench press and BO rows follow OHP. I'm thinking this Mehdi guy doesn't want Stronglifts to appear to be a direct rip off of Starting Strength, so he switched up the order. It won't…

The original New Rules of Lifting has a killer fatloss program during which you do a circuit of 10 reps of 4 exercises with no rest. Then you get one minute rest before repeating the circuit. You do this for 4 circuits. The circuit for workout A is deadlifts, pushups, Bulgarian split squats, 2 pt. DB rows. To keep the…

Gorgeous!
-
Then you should be good. You'll still build strength, but if you were taking the rests you would progress faster, so you just have to decide what you want to achieve.
-
If you're doing weights that are challenging for say ten reps, you're doing metabolic resistance training, which is excellent for fat burning. You aren't going to build strength to the degree you would with a strength specific workout, but you're still getting a good workout. Just resist high reps and keep the weight as…

I have a doctor's scale in my kitchen that I inherited from my Aunt. So I weigh mostly naked in my kitchen.

Yes. Naked or underwear. Always.
