  • I wouldn't trust the calories on the machine or in MFP. They are simply estimates. The only way to accurately know how many calories you are burning is with a good heart rate monitor. I have a Polar FT4 and it was the best fitness purchase I have ever made.
  • The Last Unicorn! Love it!
  • I'm definitely an advocate for the C25K program. I have always wanted to be a jogger but never thought it was possible because of my lack of endurance and strength. I started the C25K and I'm 6 weeks in right now. At the beginning, jogging for a minute to 2 minutes straight without resting was difficult and yesterday I hit…
  • I have a Polar FT4 and I love it... and it's hot pink, which makes it even better. I got it at a sporting goods store for around $90 but I've heard that you can find them cheaper online (I don't do very well with online shopping, I need instant gratification). It was the best $90 I've ever spent. It helps me give myself an…
  • I did a lot of research when i bought mine. I wanted to go with a cheaper option to save money. However, after reading a lot of reviews, I opted to spend a little more and go with the Polar FT4. It was still under $100 and it's hot pink. It's cute and I actually like wearing it! I think it was well worth it.
  • They have low fat muenster. I swear it is impossible to find anywhere else.
  • When you are using your HRM, remember to subtract your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) from the calories burned. Those account for the calories that your body would burn if you laid in bed all day. The deficit within MFP already accounts for those calories. Personally, my body burns 1.1 calories per minute if I did nothing. So…
  • If you prefer a creamy dressing that is a bit lower in fat and calories, I've been enjoying Kraft's light 3-cheese Ranch. It's less than half of the fat than regular ranch, but has a much better flavor than most reduced fat creamy dressings. Also, there's a specialty spice store called Penzey's. There are several across…
  • I love them also.... just wish they were lower in sodium :( But that's what you get with most prepared foods.
  • I'm a huge Twilight nerd!! My favorite is Alice. Too bad I'd have to lose a lot more than likely possible to look like her! But I'd love to try to come close! miqisha, They are definitely splitting BD into two installements. More for me to look forward too!! They would have to cut out way too much to do just one. Team…
  • I got this one on cookinglight.com. The recipe says to use boneless, but you can use the bone-in type also. You may just want to adjust the cooking time slightly. It tastes great! Spicy with a hint of sweetness. Only took me about 20 min to prep and cook. Enjoy!! Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 2 chicken thighs)…
  • Going vegetarian one or two nights a week saves a lot of money. Pasta with tomato sauce and frozen veggies make a good, cheap, and filling meal. Making things from scratch can also save cash. For example, when I want to make that pasta with tomato sauce, I buy a couple of cans of store brand diced tomatoes and run them…
  • Packing snacks to take with you is also a good idea. Bringing a box of protein bars will provide you with an inexpensive and healthier alternative to fast food and other restaurants. Also, if you're going on a road trip, take advantage of all the fruit and veggie stands and farmer's markets that you will likely pass!…
  • My favorite quick breakfast is a ham/egg/cheese on english muffin sandwich. I found a microwave omelet maker at Walmart for about $3. It's a small circular plastic container with a lid to steam cook the eggs. You just crack an egg (sometimes I do the whole egg, sometimes 2 egg whites) and scramble it right in the…
