  • I make pitta pizzas for the kids with a wholemeal pitta, tomato puree, oregano dried herbs and grated cheese. They love them and they are so easy. I have that too sometimes or I make thin turkey steaks grilled lightly on both sides and then topped with sliced tomato, dried oregano and some cheese. Really tasty and healthy…
  • Did your boyfriend have pmt too? lol :)
  • I can be like that but not every month. Stress is a definite factor and also once you start you can't stop. Try to keep your blood sugars from spiking by eating regularly and eating wholegrains /veg/ protein ect (I'm sure you know the drill ;)) Sometimes though, only chocolate will suffice
  • I've heard it takes 20minutes for your stomach to feedback the full feeling to your brain, if you eat too fast you can be overfull before you even realise it. Leaving the table or finishing your meal before you are completely full therefore makes sense to me. I think my feedback mechanisms are shot though through years of…
  • c25k is great. I am nearly at the end of it although I still run really slow :) The UK weather is hampering me at the moment, it's so cold! Usually pretty active on here but taking a short break to recover from a virus. Should be back up and running next week I hope. Good luck with your weight loss. Feel free to add me if…
  • I am the lightest weight I have been since my 20's and can now run for 20mins, something I would never have believed possible before. But the most important change is that now I actually believe I can lose weight and keep it off, and that I will get there eventually to that elusive healthy weight range. Thank -you to mfp…
  • Doing more strenuous exercise, or changing your exercise routine always helps me when the weight won't come off. Even if you eat the calories back it still seems to make the difference.
  • I would suggest trying any bread with lots of seeds in it. In the UK we can get Burgen soya and linseed bread which is high fibre and a good choice for diabetics. You can also buy low carb wraps online I believe but I haven't tried them
  • Really inspirational especially as I started off at 191and have about the same amount of weight to lose as you (I'm 5'3"). I'm just under halfway through now. Thanks for posting Sarah
  • The friends that motivate me most on here are the ones who are really dedicated and achieving their goals. I challenged myself today to match one of my awesome friends' calorie burn, and I did it :) Over 1000 cals burned which is so not normal for me. I try to offer encouragement to those friends who are struggling at the…
  • I started on mfp a few months ago and also started the couch to 5k running programme. I'm 45 and I couldn't even run for a bus before I started :) Now I can manage 20mins without stopping and I feel so much fitter. I feel I can actually keep up with my kids too who are still quite young. Good luck with your quest to regain…
  • Welcome, it sounds as though you have been making some really positive changes to your life, well done. I also started on here trying to lose weight mainly for health reasons as there is a lot of diabetes in my family. I think it's a great site and there's some really good support also. I have also started the couch to 5k…
  • A vampire, they seem to have so much more fun :)
  • You've got your hands full with two little ones. When they go down for a nap it's natural for you to want to have a treat or at least some me-time. Try to make it non-food. A luxury bubble bath, a read of an interesting magazine or book, watch some TV you've missed maybe, phone a friend or if you feel like it you could do…
  • I like wraps. Tesco do a seeded one for 190cals. You can make a really decent lunch with that and loads of salad and hummus or something
  • Good luck with it. I am just under halfway there to my 50lbs and feel so much better. Just stick with it :)
  • WOW So needed your inspiration today. I am doing the couch to 5k programme. I'm supposed to be in week8 but I think I'm going to have to backtrack to week5 as I can only just make a 20 min run. Have been losing and gaining the same 2lb for weeks now. Seriously need a kick up the bum and some motivation to get moving again.…
  • Welcome Sue, I am Sarah and I love myfitnesspal and swimming too :) I used to be quite a good swimmer in my youth and I am using it now to help me lose weight. Sending you a friend request, hopefully we can motivate each other to do well with our eating and get in the pool.
  • I'm definitely a diary stalker but mine's not always pristine and probably quite different to yours as I'm English. Feel free to add though, my diary is open to friends.
  • It sounds like you've made a great start in losing that 5lb in a month and that you are making some good healthy choices. Try not to do everything at once just keep making those small changes. Do you think you could cook an omelette? You can use whole eggs or some whole eggs and some egg whites if you want to keep the…
  • What sannsk said for protein. For breakfast you can't beat eggs and bacon in my opinion or Fat free Greek yoghurt and fruit. Cottage cheese is another good protein snack. I like it with an apple.
  • MFP allows a lot of carbs but not much protein. You can customise your settings. I have mine set to 40%carbs : 30%protein : 30%fat which seems to work well for me. It's not low-carb as I eat rice and wholegrains and all the fruit and vegetables but it helps me to keep away from empty calorie sweet foods.
  • I've had to change some of the food I eat because before I ate way too many sweet foods and snacks. I am still allowing myself these foods but much less and much less often. Also I love to cook so I can adapt recipes to make them healthier.
  • It looks like we have a similar amount of weight still to lose. I have been doing this since May. It's a great site with lots of good support and information. Welcome :)
  • As far as ketones go - What he said, thanks SHboss1673. As far as the salt issue. The section is titled 'Myth 6 Salt is bad for you' and talks about people being low in sodium. It's very unlikely that anyone eating a western diet, even a very clean eating one would be low on sodium so it's misleading. Most people would be…
  • I have a couple of issues with this article. Firstly I know nothing about bodybuilding so I'm not going to comment on that but I have studied biochemistry and it simply not true to say your brain only runs on glucose, your brain can run on ketone bodies too. I also have an issue with the bit about salt. Most of us in the…
  • I'm just starting week 8 and ran 5mph this morning but last week managed 5.2mph. Its quite hilly where I live to so that's got to be a factor. I'm more worried about completing the run at the moment than speed though
  • I agree about emotional eating. If we could just learn to deal with the emotions rather than reaching for the chocolate we could conquer this
  • Have you noticed that all the posts here saying they have a problem with this or have had in the past are women. The men seem to be saying "have mental strength" or "concentrate on your goals" which is good advice but part of me thinks that they just don't have the same problem with this that we do. Am I wrong?
  • I lost about 14lb with weight watchers and then stayed the same for ages. The leader I had wasn't particularly inspiring and I think I was just bored with the plan. Since I ditched weight watchers and joined mfp I have lost a further 21 lbs and I am the lightest I have been since my 20's. I still use the odd weight…
