  • You just need to focus more on fruits for your calories instead of vegetables. Both are low calorie foods, but fruits make it pretty easy to get in 1200 calories. 12 bananas = roughly 1200 calories.
  • Very interesting stuff! Michael Arnstein "The Fruitarian" claims that he can actually smell what people eat coming through their skin. This is due to his extreme sense of smell acquired from years of eating 100% raw. Other 100% fruitarian claims are no mucus, absolutely no body odor, rapid healing and increased vision.
  • This is fantastic! I have slowly been on a path to purely eating for necessity and not for pleasure for awhile now. People always ask me if I ever get cravings for things like cake, burritos, or a cheeseburger. Not as much as one might think. I many times go for a week straight eating the exact same foods everyday at the…
  • Thank you for the compliment, and the great info! I should specify that I never use canned vegetables unless it is a case where I truly have no time to spare. Even then, I never use a canned vegetable that isn't salt free, chemical free, and organic, in the case of the tomatoes. Dry beans and grains are definitely the way…
  • Ha ha, This makes me laugh because my parents say the exact same things when I try to get them to eat stuff. My mom is all about the salt, "You need to salt that" "It tastes ok, but it needs salt." What happens there is that her taste buds, and mind automatically expect the salt. Without it, the food tastes bland. It isn't…
  • I suggest anyone interested in apple cider vinegar, read Paul Bragg's book dedicated to the subject. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Cider-Vinegar-Miracle-Lifestyle/dp/0877901007/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1342803712&sr=8-10&keywords=apple+cider+vinegar I use it as salad dressing mixed with liquid aminos, nutritional yeast, and…
  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts, turkey steaks, lean beef cutlets normally come small with several per package.
  • Junk is junk no matter what it resembles, in my opinion. Faux meat is chemically injected, processed slosh. You are better off without it, your body will thank you. http://www.icallthisliving.com
  • I think the common misconception is that vegans just sit around and eat vegetables all day. How boring that would be! A well balanced vegan diet is full of so many different foods, meals, and spices. I keep learning and trying new food everyday! I urge you to find a good community of vegans around your area, maybe even…
  • I fully agree with you. Although there are so many chemicals in our modern food system, Obsessing over food too much can be miserable. I've come to the conclusion that If black beans, brown rice, rolled oats, organic peanut butter, and steamed vegetables are the worst things in my diet...I'm doing pretty good, ha ha. Most…
  • It is all about calories in Vs. Calories out I'd lose the protein supplements, He doesn't need near as much protein as the weight lifting society wants him to think he does. Each shake he is consuming is probably adding 200-300 calories to his daily total. He needs to focus on losing the excess weight now, and bulking up…
  • Hey, A fellow Texan! I grew up in cattle country so i know all about the meat and potatoes! I originally got into fitness and nutrition like everyone else I suppose, little by little. When I started, I bought into the entire world of body building where it is all about PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN and supplements. I began…
  • Oh I know exactly what you are talking about! Raw foods are full of living enzymes so naturally, they make you feel alive. I have been 85-90% raw for quite a while now, I go 100% raw normally in intervals if I'm trying to cut body fat or train for endurance. You really have to tweak it to what you feel your body needs. The…
  • when I was younger, I always thought that I would constantly be tired if I didn't have a stimulant coursing through my bloodstream 24/7. The funniest thing happens when you cut them all out...you find out your body doesn't need or want it. Are there health benefits to small doses of caffeine? sure. Do they outweigh the…
  • If you are going to drink coffee, I would just say definitely look for organic whenever you can find it. That said, Cutting all caffeine from my diet has proven time and time again to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Good luck!
  • The ideal weight range for a male, 5 feet 8 inches tall is between 125-158 pounds. I am a 25 year old 5' 8" tall male as well, I weigh 145 pounds which puts me in the "normal" range at 22 BMI (body mass index). Here is a great chart to look at and show him, maybe to help with motivation!…
  • ^--- I agree with this post. If you are eating raw gourmet, I would watch your fat intake very closely. I think raw gourmet is a nice transitional tool, and would be great short-term for someone coming off of fast food and a standard American diet. I believe at the end of the day junk food can be junk food, no matter what…
  • Good to have you, It will change your life! :D

  • I am a low fat raw vegan (80/10/10) and I have never experienced being increasingly cold. Although, I have heard about it before in the high fat raw food world quite a bit. "The 80/10/10 diet" is a book written by Dr. Douglas N. Graham, and it changed my life. You can purchase it on Amazon for sure. Like others have said…
  • I am a low fat raw vegan. It is a truly fantastic book! http://www.icallthisliving.com
  • Welcome to the raw world! On youtube check out "Fullyraw Kristina", "durianrider", and I like "rahbrahs" videos, they feature a lot of wise raw foodists. 3 books that I like a lot are "the 80/10/10 diet", "the complete idiot's guide to eating raw" and Mimi Kirk's "live raw". I have recently started my own Facebook fanpage…
  • Want to know the best weight loss drug? Not putting toxic chemicals and inorganic compounds into a body that doesn't know what to do with them. http://www.icallthisliving.com/
  • Strive for optimal health, not weight loss at any cost. http://www.icallthisliving.com
  • Why is he taking supplements and what kinds?
  • ^----Agree. Also, To really get the fat burning going, Try doing some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) for 20 minutes/ 3 days a week. It can be MUCH more effective than 30 minutes a day 6 days a week of a moderately paced cardio workout. Good luck!
  • I ate 12 bananas for lunch, you'll be fine. http://www.icallthisliving.com/
  • "healthy coffee" is a huge oxymoron, in my opinion. http://www.icallthisliving.com
