Yep. The old deep-fried pies were the best. A&W still makes their apple pies that way.

The calories per workout really aren't that important- they key is a calorie deficit. So yes, you can lose weight with 600-calorie workouts, as long as you have a calorie deficit, but you won't be able to eat as much as if you were doing 1000-calorie workouts. (And you will be doing less exercise so you won't get…

That looks fantastic.

Wow! Good for you! The moment you wake up and realize that *you* are the one in control of your future, everything changes. (Because this principle applies in more areas than just weight!) And I assume since you are 18, you will be leaving home soon, so at that point you can choose what goes in your fridge and nobody will…

Regardless of your weight, cardio will help you live longer. It trains your heart to pump more efficiently with lower oxygen demand, reducing your risk of dying from a heart attack (one of the most common causes of death in developed countries). I'm a family doctor and I recommend cardio to all of my patients, whether they…

Natural (un-roasted, un-salted) almonds. LOVE them. Really high in calories though!

Definitely look at your total for the week. And ENJOY your special meal! It's okay to go off the diet for a day once in a while, as long as it really is only once in a while and not every weekend.

Awesome! Doesn't it feel good when your work pays off? Great job.

When you plateau, you need to change up something in your routine to jump-start the weight loss. My suggestion? You definitely need more exercise than 30 mins twice a week. Five times a week would get things rolling again, and make you healthier too.

If you want to do it- do it anyway. Don't let his opinion stop you.

I'm 168 cm (around 5'6") and 68kg (around 150lbs), and I'm happy where I am. I've been the same weight and size all my adult life. I wear size 8 and my waist is 79cm (31"). I'm not skinny, but I look fine and I'm fit and strong- can lift a lot and can hike, bike, or paddle all day long without getting tired, and that's…

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it has never happened to me. In my past, not-great relationships, I would sometimes fall for someone else. But since I've been in my current, great relationship (x11 years) I have never once felt the slightest twinge of attraction for anyone else. I only want the one I've already got.…

I didn't read the whole thread so maybe someone already asked this. I don't go to a gym so I'm not familiar with this machine. Is there anything about it that would be different from just climbing a lot of stairs? I don't want to buy a gym membership just to use one machine, but I do have access to a lot of tall…

Change up your exercise routine. Cut back on the horseback riding and do something completely new and different. A lot of times your body wants a shakeup, and then things will start to happen again.

I work 12 hour night shifts, so the day I work sleep till about 11am and then am up until the next day at 9am, so about 22 hours awake. I do find I need to eat every 6 hours or so, so I end up with 4 meals instead of 3 on those days. If this is going to happen, you just need to plan for it- keep the meals that much smaller…

I didn't laugh either! I don't think anyone would, because you recognize the problem and are trying to work on it. The fact that you assumed people would laugh at you says a lot about your self-esteem. You deserve better from yourself! Be honest with yourself about the food and exercise you log, and you WILL lose weight…

That's a good one. Mine is, I want to get better (or at least not worse) as I get older. I know there are some things that get worse with age no matter what you do, so I have to get better in other ways to balance it out. Otherwise it's all downhill, and that's just depressing.

I'm the same way- I love my cardio but I always hated the idea of strength training. For 11 years I've been in a relationship with a guy who is the opposite- loves weights and doesn't like cardio. We are hilarious because for years I've been reminding him of the health benefits of cardio, and he has been reminding me of…

My routine isn't as involved as yours- I just brush and floss at night- but I always do it after I think I'm finished eating for the day. Then I'm too lazy to do it again, so I don't eat anything else. My boyfriend will offer me something and I will say, 'Sorry, I just flossed.' It works!

This means you're getting leaner and fitter- and that's the goal, right? (It should be, because nobody knows what you weigh except you. They just know how slim you look!)

Someone on here has a profile pic with a quote I love: "The difference between what you are and what you want to be... is what you do." You have the power to make those changes!

Thank you for sharing this story. There is so much focus here on staying positive, losing weight and keeping it off, etc that sometimes these forums feel a bit phony- like they're full of cheerleaders who think everything will be perfect if they lose the weight. But nothing is perfect and there is a downside too. It's nice…

Good advice on here. 91) you don't need to be vegan to be healthy/lose weight, but (2) if you want to be vegan for other reasons (environmental, animal rights etc) then ve a vegan except for your Sunday morning bacon. People tease those who are 'vegan except for bacon', but if reducing your intake of animal products is…

I have them on my upper thighs. Got them as a teenager from a growth spurt (height and width both at the same time, I think). They were red initially but have faded to silvery pink, so they aren't that noticeable.

I'm a family doctor. As others have mentioned, there are a few things that could be happening. Pregnancy, a new pill (in the past 3 months), stress, and a new diet or exercise regimen can all make you miss a period. Home pregnancy tests cost about $10 and are very accurate, especially if you do it using your first pee of…

I have a piece of dark chocolate every day, and I agree with others who said that the dark chocolate is more satisfying and less tempting to binge on (and good for you, too!). I find if I have a bit each day, I never get the insane craving that makes me want a whole bar! (This principle probably applies to more than…

Great job! You're completely right to focus on the 'getting fitter' part and not the 'losing weight' part. You look very fit and strong!

Ha, sfoxy219, you mention 'lose and loose' (which drives me crazy too) but then you go on to use the wrong form of 'their'. Twice. Let's face it, we could all work on our grammar a bit ;)

The fact that only my first exercise session of the day posts to Facebook. And sometimes I start the day with something small (like walking my dogs over to get coffee) and then do my *real* exercise later in the day. So on Facebook, it looks like I'm slacking.
