Hi; I am following the book "The Petite Advantage Diet"; the idea behind the diet is that shorter women do need fewer calories, as you said. It recommends calorie cycling and strength training, plus lots of protein, to keep the metabolism from slowing. I do 1100 calories a day for 2 days then then a third day of 1600.…

A few suggestions: 1. Strength training! I've struggled with my weight all my life. I am now doing TRX straps for my workout. It has done more for me in 3 months than anything else I've ever tried. And it keeps your metabolism revved up for hours afterword. 2. Lots of real, fresh food; tons of fruit, veggies, lean meats,…

If the only bread you have is in a sandwich, that wouldn't be too bad for you, especially if you use a good whole grain bread. Otherwise, you could use a low-carb wrap.

Awesome! I'm a 4'10" shortie too! So far I've lost 15 lbs, and don't have the guts to put pictures up!

I have made them; of course they're not like potato chips! But they're not bad, and a nice and different way to eat your veggies.

Sounds great! Gotta try it!

HI; I'm 4'10" with about 45 lbs to lose when I started. I have posted this before; I am doing the Petite Advantage Diet by Jim Karas. His belief is that shorter women do not need as many calories, and there is no room for empty calories if you are not eating that many. I do 1100 calories for 5 days, then higher (1400 -…

I am doing TRX suspension straps. I had a trainer run through the exercises with me; now I do them at home. I've lost a bunch of inches in two months!

Hi; I wanted to update this post. I have been on the plan now for just over 6 weeks. I have lost 10 pounds, and I know I've lost inches, but haven't measured yet. Everyone says they can already see a big difference in the way I look. I also had a physical last week. My numbers on cholesterol, etc. were better than they…

Hi; I've been in your position. I'm 58 years old, 4'11", and have 40+ pounds to lose. For years, I've been trying different diets, been to a nutritionist, everything I could think of. I would lose a few pounds then just stop. I am now doing the Petite Advantage Diet, by Jim Karas, who is a personal trainer, and has worked…

I am doing the Petite Advantage diet, by Kim Karas. It's based on a formula of 40% carbs, 35% protein, and 25% fat. I use the MFP iphone app to plan my days. There is a pie chart that tracks protein, carbs and fat. If I want something specific for a certain meal, I plug it in, then plan the rest of my day around it. I keep…

If you buy suspension straps, don't buy the cheaper version. I bought the Bob Harper GoFit straps and they are ok, but the grips are a cheap rubber and irritate your hands if you don't wear gloves. And even though they are recommended in the Petite Advantage diet book, which I am following, the adjustment straps are at the…

I am eating 1100 calories with a periodic day of 1300 or so, but I am also 4'11". I can't really believe that 1100 is too low for me.

As everyone here has already said, home cooking is the way to go. I'm doing the Petite Advantage diet, and the focus is on proportion of protein, fat, and carbs. Almost everything I eat is fresh, and the canned foods I use are all low-sodium. I'm using Mrs. Dash seasonings on a lot of dishes, and that helps. The food…

All I have is a set of TRX suspension straps, and a set of floor mats. I feel like the TRX gives a really complete workout, plus it is not size-dependent, if any of you are on the short side, as I am. Also, it's portable. We have it mounted between two boards in the basement, but it can be used on a door.
